[News] Late For Work 7/20: Top 10 Ravens Under Pressure Heading Into Training Camp

61 posts in this topic

How is Arthur Brown not on that list of players under pressure? He hasn't lived up to expectations and needs to beat out McClellan and Orr to even earn a backup role. I think Will Hill needs to be taken off that list (his only competition for a starting job is Elam), and replaced with Brown. Hill's spot on the roster is far more secure than Brown's. Just my two cents.

That falls on Oz for picking him.

Arthur Brown... Maybe they have given up on him? Thats why hes not on here. But Tony Lombardi just made a great point, our MLBr are our weakest point of our team depth wise. Mosley, and D.Smith both studs, but if one or both injured whos behind them Art Brown??? Anyway just a thought.

"Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb are both expected to be healthy this year" Webb has only started all 16 games once in 6 years. After this year, Ravens will have an all new secondary.

Arthur Brown isn't on the list, because no way Oz will bail on a 2nd round pick going into their 3rd year, playing on a rook contract...Only if he falls down some steps would that happen this soon....:)

Crocket Gilmore has really put on some muscle I don't remember seeing any cuts in his arms last year. Way to go kid I hope that hard work pays off for you.

The pressure list names I'd swap. Delete: Hill, Gilmore, Perriman, and Monroe. Add: Trawick, Melvin, Reid, and Taliaferro. I'm aware that I swapped starters for non starters but this is about pressure.

If Trestman//Flacco target Forsett more often than last season, I'll be very disappointed. Not that I think he's not capable but our WRs//TEs need the bulk of targets/receptions/yards. If Flacco is throwing check-downs it means our receivers are not getting open (or the o-line is struggling) and with this group and their diversity that should not be the case.

I agree to a point. Forsett may be used in designed plays were WRs become down field blockers. In those instances Forsett is not just a check down.

While I know Juszczyk is an FB, I think his situation is dependent on the development of the young TEs. If rookies struggle and if Pitta doesn't return, it will not be enough to have 1 TE and no other options in short routes. I Trestman is a creative play caller and will find ways to get Kyle involved.

I see your point with Hill and Gilmore - they are players that have been on the field with us already and who both appear to be on the way up. I think it makes sense to keep Perriman in there. There is plenty of pressure on rookies already, but he's got the pressure of being a 1st round pick who is expected to become a #1 WR in pretty short order. That's a lot of pressure.

Just my opinion but Hill has kept himself out of negitive news and has been a very productive team member and I really think he has found a home in Baltimore as a Raven.

Minus Jimmy Smith, of course.

Potentially, but then again, a resurgence from Matt Elam would make one of the two of them expendable and certainly not worth market value.

strongly disagree - I don't think flacco threw enough check downs / screens last year. I don't want them to go overboard, but in some of those short yardage situations I would rather see a screen than a run up the middle.

I really really like Juice. I hope there's a niche for him on this offense and he can find ways to get the ball. It might not happen, because for the first time in a long time, it seems we are well equipped in the receiving game, but we'll see. Shame about the fullback position being on the decline. Maybe it doesn' make for spectacular plays, but I enjoy the grind and gritty of it.

I agree but it seems when one knee goes its not long after the other knee goes.

1. There's really no basis for that statement. He didn't even have a knee injury last season to begin with, and its pretty rare when one person suffers a knee injury that they automatically suffer another.

2. It doesn't matter, because Jimmy will be on the team regardless.

Congrats to John Harbaugh being listed as one of the best head coaches in the NFL. Not surprising, this man has done a great job making everyone forget Billick and estabished a team with class, inegrity, style, & can play football as good as anyone. Love this team this year, have so much to look forwatd too. I hope he gives a head up speech to the O's they need it.

I wanted Juice to be more than a FB all last season.  I advocated he be used as a TE as he had been in Harvard. If  Trest will not scheme him as a typical FB,then perhaps Juice can fill roles as a TE and special teams player. Why can't he be the fourth and first down or goal RB? Why does he have to be set as a FB and only a FB?

At this point the O's need a squad of nuns to dedicate and recite the rosary from their convent.

I'm sure Matt Elam will break out with a "monster season" and satisfy everyone's low expectations. :-)

You still have optimism. He  is outta here if he can't produce and does a carbon copy of 2014. His tackling was atrocious

For other fans, Harbs has become very recognizable for our SB, playoff appearances and his game show host looks

Damn.... Gillmore's looking ripped, keep up the good work.

Yeah.  Feed him the ball often. It's amazing that he holds the corner on the starting TE job. Supernaw came and went a few times and there had to be a reason he was kicked off the pecking order. .

Considering his position, the pressure exceeds what Elam was expected to do since he advances the team and is a vital scoring threat.  Elam is only here because he Was the first pick. IMO
