Ravens fans ranked 4th best

i wouldnt say loyal, i would say fanatic as opposed to just fans.

cant claim loyalty until that loyalty is tested.

we'll see how the fans respond when the flacco era comes to a close and we face a few years of mediocrity/cellar dwelling. ive develloped an emotional bond with this team, i couldnt imagine ever a time where im not itching for some ravens football and even if were guaranteed to lose ill still watch with passion, but the way i hear so many ravens fans talk about the team, i dont know if we could expect the same from them

True but were you a fan before the Flacco era? We had some pretty tough seasons. Even when Joe retires, as long as we have ozzie/ decosta and or Harbaugh I think we'll be in pretty good shape. It took us two seasons to "rebuild" or whatever term you want to use. We did it quietly and turned over most of the Super Bowl roster. Manybother teams take years.

i have always been a fan, but i became a "fanatic" in 05. i watched maybe half the games before that, but from '05 on i havent missed even a quarter of a game. so i toughed it out as a hardcore fan for 05, 07, and 13, aside from that though its been pretty easy to be a ravens fan lol, i just dont ever picture me not being die hard.

Thats just what most like to think or pretend when another team gets 16 prime time games in a season and we only get 15.

You say that as if this fan base hasn't been through a period of terrible QB play and mediocrity.

And this is a fan base that waited years just to have a team... Any team.

This groups loyalty has been tested much more than most and we're still here as passionate as ever. But you may be showing your age a little.

Baltimore football existed well before '08 and The Ravens for that matter.

A Steelers wife thats AWESOME!!!! I bet it gets kinda tense around your house when game day approaches.

Yes it does!....and she is a fanatic. It's kind of funny because deep down we both hope each others team loses, but we keep our comments to ourselves when the other's game is on.....neither one of us has a sense of humor about losing :) I do tease her if she wears anything purple.

Can't imagine what it was like during the wild card game

if you think im showing my age, then obviously you're assuming things, and your assumptions would be wrong.

i have always been a fan, but i didnt become a ridiculous superfan until i started playing football in 05, i always watched and cheered them on but the 05 season was when i began dedicating my sundays to football and i was nuts about the team. yes, i remember the boller years, i may be young but i have been watching the ravens since well before 2008.

so, to argue your point that our fanbase has had its loyalty tested, i have to ask this, where do you think the ravens ranked in popularity, nationwide presence, merchandise, etc, before 2008? if you think the ravens were anywhere even close to the big market teams then you would be dead wrong. before the 7 years of dominance from harbs and flacco, the ravens fanbase consisted of the 60,000 or so season ticket holders, a handful of fanatics, and mostly casual fans, and barely anyone outside of maryland could even stomach the thought of cheering for us, we had a strong presence INSIDE the stadium, a slightly above average presence inside state lines, and that was about the extent of it, so why have we suddenly shot up the ranks to #4? you think it might have something to do with folks hopping  aboard the "yearly super bowl contender" train? or do you think our fanbase has always been this big and other teams fanbases have shrunk?

a massive portion of the ravens fanbase, was not around for the rough years of boller wasting away a legendary defense, the portion of our fanbase that has risen us to #4 in the popularity rankings, you can bet are mostly new fans who absolutely have not had their loyalty tested aside from 1 season of missing the playoffs.

dont disrespect me like that again by brushing off what i say and assuming i am just some snotnosed teenager who knows nothing, im a grown adult and i know plenty about baltimore football and have been a ravens fan for much longer than you assume.

been with my steelers girlfriend for 4 years, she can take a loss a lot better than i can lol. the only problem with it is it limits the number of games we can go to to 1 or 2 max per year, because im not driving to pittsburgh and im not taking her to a ravens vs (not steelers) game so she can ruin it lol

My only hangup with going to Pittsburgh and wearing my Ravens gear is the same hangup I have with being in my police uniform and that is eating. I have a fear of someone doing something to my food as I have a phobia when it comes to that. When in uniform I never special ordered anything and just chose what was already made or where I could watch it being prepared. If I go to a bar to watch a game in Pittsburgh, I will wear a jacket over my Ravens jersey and I will only take it off after I have eaten. I have never sent any food back in my life....you just never know.  As for wearing my Ravens gear in Pittsburgh, no one has ever given my any problem there, however my wife has taken a little guff in Baltimore at times wearing her Steelers gear. She does not have the food phobia I have, even though I worry about it.

I feel for your food phobia man! If you didn't have it I would've hoped you would be proudly flaunting your Ravens gear in Pittsburgh!

We are the best fans imho. We don't have airs about us and support our team through thick and thin. We are simply the best and I can't imagine Cowboys fans or anybody else for that matter being better and more supportive fans than us! We are rabid fans in a mighty good way! I am surprised the Steelers are in the top 15 though... those guys haven't filled out all their games regardless of how well they've played. They are a top social media team with bandwagoners given their tenure in the NFL, but otherwise they don't match up to us period!

I think its neat that the woman you fell in love with loves football. I dont like the Steelers but I know for a fact the Raven / Steeler games are some of the very best and most competitive games during the season and sometimes they are even better than some of the playoff games played in the NFL. Heck I think we get 2 extra playoff games during the regular season when we play the Steelers because the Ravens and Steelers bring out the best of each other it is a playoff atmosphere in the regular season.

You guys are good people. One of the classiest fans I have encountered. Brown and Bengal fans, KC and Charger fans are nice too.

I visited San Diego for a RAVENS game once. Yeah their fans were super cool.

I agree about the kc and charger fans- but can't co sign with the browns and bengals .. Haven't had any good altercations with them, every one I've met has been very close minded , cheap and immature. I'm sure there's a few good ones out there somewhere , I've just never seen any.

Just goes to show how loyal us ravens fans are. We have one of the smallest population cities and we dont travel too well.

HUH?

I was part of a huge group of about 100 Ravens maniacs that followed the Ravens all over

the country for the first 16 years since they came here. I spent thousands per year going on Ravens road games and many others did the same. I've been to almost every stadium in the

country.

We took over all the Florida stadiums and Arizona before they built their

dome but I don't think Ravens have played in their dome yet.

Billick once said it was like a college game with all Ravens fans on their

side of the stadium and Cards fans on the other side. Ravens ran out of the

tunnel pumping their fists at our entire section of Ravens fans. Billick said the

players know they have something special going on with the fans here.

After a recent playoff win in NE Doom said this was like playing at home with

all the purple in the stadium.

We always took over the Florida stadiums. In Billick's last game in Miami

the Miami Herald said there were over 30,000 Ravens fans there.

We also took over the old Gator Bowl. They  actually cover the seats up

top because they can't sell them and it's an embarrassment to the city and

they got the second franchise team over us.  Go figure.

I've been in the black hole and several games in Pitt including the playoff

game where Elvis curled into his infamous fetal position with Ogden looking

down on him with disgust.

And of all the stadiums I've been too, we have the best two stadiums in the

country and many cities copied them like Denver, Cinci, Cleveland, Pitt etc.

Ravens stadium here is a nightmare for visiting teams and one of the

hardest venues to win at. Our winning percentage was very high.

So we earned this honor as the top 5 city for fans with all the travelling and

merchandise we buy.

I live down here in Orlando and I went to Miami for a game.  I was expecting a good amount of Ravens fans but we took over that stadium.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Had a good ole time.

We should start seeing a jump in fans because that 20 year old that went to the Raider game in '96 is now 40 and their kid(s) are coming of age.  Ravens fans will continue to grow.  It is one thing to be proud of is to see the intensity of the fandom with the Ravens.  I see too many blah fans like Tampa, Miami, and Jax down here in FL.

I've noticed that, too. Parts of North Carolina are also Raven-havens. Where I am, in Virginia, seems to have a decent amount of fans but the sports stores sell Redskins and Steelers (gag) crap.

I practically jump out of my car seat when I drive by someone that has a Ravens car sticker and my wife just rolls her eyes.  Personally, I think Ravens will eventual replace the Steelers stuff up in the DC area.  I am surprised that the Steelers were so low on the fan list considering their national appeal.  It's like that down here too.

yeah here in central VA it's mostly redskins-cowboys (esp since redskins camp is held In Richmond ) but there's a good share of ravens fans.

Back in the early days of the team, I lost some friends where I lived in the DC area, just because I was a fan, but replaced them when I joined an now defunct Ravens Roost in Bowie.  Also was told to leave Dave and Busters at White Flint Mall in 1997 and was given coupons for the games, because they would show the Ravens.   Some people still hate them, but sometimes I shoot back, "We don't want you anyway, because you'd look ugly in purple and black"

I always thought Virginia had fairly strict laws about public obscenity? I'm surprised officials let conduct like that fly. ;)
