[News] Javorius Allen Is The New Michael Oher

I have high hopes for Buck Allen. I have heard nothing but good things by football people, that this guy is a sleeper stud who should push forsett time. Then possibly replace him when contracts up.

oh my lord, I wish him the best in all that he does with everything in his life. I was on my own since 16 and I really feel for him. GOD bless him.

Ryan, another captivating, outstanding article profiling a Raven. When we come to know some players with personal hardship, perseverance and resulting high character to expose a man truly worthy of respect, it is quite easy to endear that player even more to the fan base. I knew a little about Allen's struggles but this excellent article allowed me to further appreciate and push Allen high on my list of players to especially root for.

Every now and then we get a kid with a story like Buck's. We wish nothing but the best for him and he will succeed. The odds against him are behind him, and his future looks bright. He was raised right and as long as he does the right thing he'll go a long way.

Hats off to you Buck enjoy your time here and "PLAY LIKE A RAVEN".

Another awesome in-depth story. The grocery anecdote was both sobering and charming. Good luck, Buck, RIP Alice.

Great tribute to Alice and Mickey for having such big hearts. Really, not many people have hearts as big and clean as those did for taking a young, broke man into their house, nurturing him and then allowing him to blossom into a productive citizen.

Forget skittles, how sweet a gesture would it be for fans to toss shaved pine cones onto the field every time the kid scores? What once was a symbol of poverty and hardship in his life will now be a badge of honor, faith, relentlessness, and perseverance.

Sorry, grounds crew, you'd hafta take one for the team!

Wasn't going to read this article, didn't like the intro. Well I got hooked in the 1st couple sentences. Great story well written. Since my jersey was Ngata and I need a new jersey, and had almost  settled on Smith (22). But whoa....let me take a peek at Mr. Allens' number. Best wishes to Javorius going forward.

can't wait for him to get his chin strap on and go to work. he will be giving many gestures to Alice if he picks up where he left of in college... he will probably do a little Justin Forsett or Ngata every time.

This was a very touching story. This dude has gone through things that most people wouldn't even imagine and was able to use it as motivation to succeed. That ability shows extreme heart. This is a solid pickup that I can't wait to see on the field in the purple and black.

Great article, rarely do I ever read the entire article, but I couldn't turn away from this one, I hope all his struggles and perseverance pays off and will be a great player in this league. Can't wait to see this guy play his heart out on the field every week, great story.

Buck sounds like quite a good man. It would have been so easy for him to fall into the same trap that befalls so many young kids who are in similar situations. Unfortunately, he saw what I'm talking about happen to his older brother. "Praying Grandmas" are truly a blessing in life and I have great respect for Buck's grand mother. I'm so glad he found the Allens. Something tells me that a lawyer for his brother won't be the only thing he spends money on. I bet his Grandma finds herself in a better home without the cockroaches too. Good for you, Buck, that you became determined to show your little brother a different path than your older brother fell prey to. Super glad that you got your degree too. This story has me a little firmer in your corner as I hope for success for you. Play like a Raven, Buck, for yourself, your little brother, big brother, Grandma, and all the other kids with backgrounds like yours.

Man has he gone through times we could not imagine. It seems the poor or disadvantaged black men usually have no fathers and their grand mother is the hope and inspiration they need.  He is on my favored player list in this class and I am rooting for his admission to the 53

Please stop with the Oher thrashing. Oher helped us win our SB and deserves our respect for that. These are two entirely different people and they should be treated that way. Good luck to both.
