The Suck Bowl (Worst Ravens Seasons)

46 posts in this topic

Ok so plain and simple ..if I can get a hand here, I appreciate it.

I'm going to list some of the Ravens worst teams and they will go head to head through votes to see who would have won a Tournament of the worst Ravens squads ever.

Only teams 8-8 and under are eligable

Ok here are the contestants.

1996 Ravens- 4 wins 12 losses

1997 Ravens- 6 wins 9 losses 1 tie

1998 Ravens- 6 wins 10 losses

1999 Ravens - 8 wins 8 losses

02 Ravens- 7 wins 9 losses

05 Ravens- 6 wins 10 losses

07 Ravens- 5 wins 11 losses

13 Ravens - 8 wins 8 losses

To make it most fair, Im matching up teams of similar record, but trying to keep the years spaced out..so 96 vs 2007 for example so you have different enough personally on each squad.

1st Round will be

1999 Ravens vs 2013 Ravens

1996 Ravens vs 2007 Ravens

1997 Ravens vs 2002 Ravens

1998 Ravens vs 2005 Ravens

I feel like as bad as the 02-07 bad teams were, the defense would've held their own, minus 07 when everyone was injured.

think those teams where a QB away from being a contender.

i would have to say 07, i was too young to remember anything pre 98, and i still felt some excitement watching those early 00's teams, but 07, MAN that was ugly, have we forgotten the 9 game-10 week losing streak? losing to cam cameron's 1-15 dolphins? david pittman, gerome sapp, and germaine winborn? oh my god it was unbearable to watch.

there were some highlights, mcgahee was an absolute madman, kyle boller in all his suckiness actually had some solid moments, and we nearly ended the pats perfect season long before the giants did and was only a botched timeout away from doing so, but overall, that was just a miserable season

I guess interesting thread, but I really don't want to bring these memories back to the front of my head.

2011.... Even though it was one of our best rosters it was by far the most heartbreaking end of a season I've ever experienced.

I have to agree with this.  That loss to the Dolphins was inexcusable.  If I were Bisciotti, I would have told Billick to find his own way home after that game.  Most of that season was brutal to watch.

But the good thing about that season, it brought us Harbaugh and the team we have now.

Easy for me, 2007.

Hopes were high after the 06 season and everything just went to hell from the start, beginning with Jamal going to the browns.. Billick losing control of the team was flat out embarrassing.

By the guidelines stated by the OP, they're not eligible.  They were better than .500

I don't think people get th3 concept of this thread.

I'm with beanfigger. I think 13 would have the best chance, depending on seeding thru the tourney. Those late 90s teams were trash, with no real direction.

Oh. Well 2007 is pretty easy for me since 2006 is when I started falling in love with the game. I can only vaguely remember the seasons before then.

1996-They were a bad football team, but at least they were ours. We couldn't afford a practice squad back then and we had players like Steve Everett who didn't want to be on the team.

Honestly, I don't quite get it. Is the tournament to decide which is the worst Ravens team of all time (in which case the loser of each match-up advances) or the best among the worst Ravens teams?

I think it's putting the worst Ravens teams against each other to see who would win a tournament. So it's basically the best of the worst.

Worst point differential was the 2007 team, with -109. That was probably the worst team and biggest dissapointment I've personally seen from this team. 2013 felt worse than 8-8 but we were still in the hunt.

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. I have to say though, a worst-of-the-worst tournament, while possibly more depressing, would be more interesting to me.

The Kyle Boller era.   Most people talk about the dominant 2000 defense.   While Boller was the starter for us, we had some ridiculous defense that for most part people outside of Baltimore rarely even remember how good we were.

If we had even a adequate QB, we would have been a Super Bowl contender.   If we had a great QB, this franchise would be Americas favorite team of the decade.   WASTED opportunity...

Agreed on 2013, all we really had to do was beat the Bengals that year to make the playoffs, there were some fun moments in that season at least like the Vikings and Lions games(minus Joe getting hit in the knee). Plus we got the trip.

2007 was just bad for me, the Patriots heart breaker, the losing streak, losing to the Dolphins, fun fact but the first Ravens game I went to was the last time the Ravens won before the losing streak(beat the Rams)

Yeah, we started out a shaky 4-2 but totally collapsed for a 5-11 finish, it was rough

2013 team should win it all, but they'd find a way to blow it.

If we're doing matchups in the way we did with the 2000 Ravens against the 2012 Ravens, just imagine Gino Gradkowski marshaling that OL against the earlier Ravens front sevens.

But if this is a battle of the "worst", don't you "win" by actually losing?

I am with you. I think figuring out the lowest of the low might be,,,, ummmmm,,,, "fun".

Loosing team,,, ummm,,, advances. I guess.

The 96/97 teams hands down worse than the others. The team

That came from Cleveland was hot garbage. Only time the Ravens have had to do a total rebuild in their history.

Exactly my point. The 90s teams I don't think stand a chance against even the bad 2000 teams.

We were a forgotten team along with other AFC teams in 07. Brady and his crew stole the media spotlight.

+> Yeah  remember when we drafted Redman.  Marino could have been ours. It is what is is.
