[News] Late For Work 7/7: Terrell Suggs Nearly Breaks Buzzer In Celebrity Family Feud

47 posts in this topic

The one thing I would change is Rex Ryan calling a timeout On Fourth Down against the Patriots in 2007. The play went off and the Defense held, then all of a sudden they said their was a timeout. I think about this play all the time and just yesterday watching the NFL Network. If Rex didn't call a timeout the Patriots would have been 15 -1. Their was an Electricity watching that game.

You know, out of all the Pats vs. Ravens games that one sticks out in my mind more than any other one.   Yes, the Lee Evans dropped pass hurts the most but to watch the team pull themselves up and punch the Patriots in the mouth was great to watch.  I remember the Ravens wanting all their fans to wear their black jerseys, so it would be a black out at the stadium.

I remember the commentators calling out the refs for the questionable timeout.  And I don't remember if it was the play before or after but after another failed attempt to get the first down the Pats got another try because one of the tackles lined up in the neutral zone.  One of the guys calling the game said something like "he's been lining up there all game long, why call it now?"   This is the game the fans should have started the bs chant, not the game a few years later when the replacement refs were calling the game.

If everything else was the same, I would definitely change the Lee Evans drop, but had he caught that pass, we probably would have been coming off a SB win going into 2012, and Cam Cameron probably wouldn't have been fired the next year. It's extremely unlikely that we would have won SB XVII if Cam was still the OC, and it was great destroying the Patriots after such a heartbreaking loss. If I could change one thing, it wouldn't be a play. I would change the fact that we didn't fire Cam after the 2009 season like we should have. That way, we would probably have multiple SBs in this era, and guys like Heap, Mason, and Double J could have a ring.

Just watched on the nfl network Top 10 qbs in the 90's. Troy Aikman barely even would throw for 2000 a season but when playoffs start he is a whole different qb and he considered elite. They were saying that they consider qb's who wins when it matters (playoffs) to be elite and I said bull. because flacco is a beast in the playoffs and wins but no one gives him the elite status.. I DO! just win man I don't care about stats as long as we keep winning

They did consider qbs who won in the playoffs elite until Joe Flacco started winning in the playoffs.

@LA ravens torrey couldnt affect the placement of flacco's ball her put threw into double coverage when he could have got the easy first down with kamar aiken wide open standing right there waving his arms so dont blame the wr we took a risk and it was bound to be intercepted

I don't know how anyone could be "blamed" besides Torrey. When thinking about the play call, the Ravens were being aggressive, which I would argue is the reason they're so good in the playoffs compared to the regular season (I'm of the opinion that if they played as aggressively in the regular season, we'd be seeing a lot more division championships and home playoff games). I also think most fans want to see the Ravens attack more on offense, so talking about wanting to methodically drive down the field (assuming that it would lead to a score) is nothing more than hindsight (the bomb didn't work, so obviously they should have went for the "easy" first down).

As for the play itself, it was a pretty good throw considering that Hurst put his guy on the ground right where Joe was going to plant. so he threw it off his back foot. All Torrey had to do was keep his eye on the ball and make a play for it - it would have been an incompletion at worst, since he would have had position on the safety had he not put his head down and thrown that weak shoulder. Torrey simply gave up on the play.

But had it worked, everyone would be praising the aggressive play call.

The "drop" made 2012 so special...so special. What a great Ravens season....Very glad we got to experience it all the way to the Lombardi.

The most dissapointing thing about Lee Evans is that the season before we got him from the Bills. He torched us when we played Buffalo; so to get this guy who made big plays for a bad Bills team looked like gold for us. Unfortunately he couldn't stay healthy and when he did get healthy he wasn't productive. That one catch would've have made up for the dissapointing season he had.

The 2011 pass to Evans should have been a read down with Boldin or Pitta getting that ball.  Courtney got his hands in there to deflect the ball and his D was good.  All of us blame Evans for not protecting but Coutney played good.  Of course, Cardiffs' miss was like swallowing chicken bones. That really made me sicker.

Its not the dropped pass by Lee Evans that really made the impact from that game, it was the missed field goal kick by Cundiff that we cannot seem to get over. I still get angry thinking about it.

While I definitely concur with the majority on the Lee Evans drop . . . Another play I would consider would be in last year Div. Playoff game with the Patriots. 3rd down endzone pass to Owen Daniels that is just off the his hands in the back of the endzone. If he catches that pass, it puts us back in the lead by a touchdown. Now instead of NE taking the lead on the next series, we have an opportunity to do what we were doing the majority of the game and run it down their throat.

that play definitely gets overlooked and is the one that constantly stands out in my head. It gets overshadowed by the interception- but if Daniels pulls in that catch even if new England still scores on that next drive then all we need is a feild goal - and I believe we were closing in on Tucker's range ( if not already within) when the interception occurred , and if all we needed was a feild goal- joe never takes that shot for the endzone - we milk the clock and then tucker sends us to Indy , so yeah, that O.D drop was huge- would've been a tough catch - but I think pitta pulls that one in all day.

Wait, are you implying that Flacco gets no respect from the media's talking meatheads? I'm totally aghast!

@DARKRAVEN23.

yes flacco shouldn't have thrown that pass in the first place. both D couldn't defend all game. even if torrey caught that and took the lead there was still well over a minute for the pats to get into field goal range. o well this year so far on paper we look good. super bowl winning good

Suggs almost breaking the buzzer makes me think of Sweet Dee from the most recent season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They did a "Family Fight" episode where she destroys the buzzer.

The one play I'd have changed is the play the front office made to sign Elvis Grbac. Other than that, it's a revisionist history. I love the brief 20 year history of this team...and while I'd love to have a couple more rings, we are a top 3 franchise in football over the last 10 years. 8 playoff appearances and a superbowl win...are you kidding me? You might argue Patriots, Seahawks, Green Bay or New York, but we are on par or better than each of those teams...in my humble Purple opinion...GO RAVENS!!!

You must have excellent reading comprehension, because that's exactly what I was implying!
