[News] The Competition 2015: Quarterback

46 posts in this topic

OK. So it's vacation week for the Raven's staff. Here's my unentitled and unsolicited 2 cents. Next year, when the staff knows vacations will be coming, maybe store up a few more articles, perhaps include some of a slightly different focus to fill out the week? All articles don't have to be current news. No need to bother to attempt to create a new spin on a similar existing story. Months or weeks ahead, why not save up a few special interest kind of stories and have them spread across the week while you taking well deserved vacations? Perhaps look in to the life of 1 of the players, their charities or explore their journey of ups and downs on the way to the NFL? Or write about what 1 of our former popular players is doing with their life post football. Consider it a compliment if website fans want the same amount of quality stories to continue even if the staff is on vacation. Take off, party on, chill out, enjoy the beach or whatever. Get a break from work and have a blast. But some of us fans really look forward to our daily dose of the website and enjoy the fan opinions and banter evoked from the articles. Just offering a few thoughts to get through vacation week to keep website fans just as engaged. In general, thanks to the writing staff for your efforts all year long to keep us informed and to give us something to chat about. Have fun this week.

I concur... speak on it, we are all behind you 110%

This is a fluff piece. I would have liked more intel on Schawb and what the coaching staff believes.  We know Schawb and Joe are the only ones.

About the same level of competition in Baltimore :)

"The competition" LoL

My first reaction as well but I do recall one early report out of voluntary OTAs saying Schaub was having issues with accuracy.

*shrugs*

I know it's more than hard to come up with interesting stories and real worthy stuff here day by day in the "desert period" of the NFL when nothing really happens - but it's kinda forseeable, isn't it? We all know well in advance that this time of year is gonna come - so I don't think it would be too hard to kinda... well... prepare for it during the season? Instead of giving us the rooke camp videos once again in a couple of weeks "in case you've missed it" (nobody has, boys. I guarantee that.) - would it be impossible to just collect two-three stories, interviews or other stuff each week of the season and store it until this time comes? That would be enough to give us something REALLY interesting almost every day for two months - well enough to "survive" until the camps come...

The "Team Behind the Team" stuff is exactly that kind of stuff. Great articles, fascinating stuff, something I think I can safely say that everybody is interested in. Heck, I would even lovereading about guys like the water boys, janitors, receptionists, drivers etc...

So, guys, do you think it would be a worthy idea to consider "storing" some during-the-season stuff in the freezer and feeding us with it in the heat of the NFL-dead summer? I definitely think we would be a keen audience ;)

Well, the problem is that according to the reports, the difference between Schaub and Renner is like a ravine, too - just like between Flacco and Schaub... So, Schaub basicaly can't be bad enough to lost the backup job to Renner... Maybe, if a better backup alternative becomes available in the camp-season... But not to Renner.

It's off season. Guess they don't want to talk about how like half the league is getting suspensions lol

The competition "No", more like how are the backups comparing to the starter. Do they have what it takes for the crowd to roar if Flacco out scores the opponents early by 45, lol.

I wonder - and some of you with better knowledge can probably tell me - is Schaub so bad because he's genuinely lacking skill, or is it because he's lacking confidence? After all, he was at the Pro Bowl and I'd assume some abilities to get there..
