2015 Draft a Franchise (NBA): Discussion Thread

Needed an athletic big man and they're all gone, settled on a project.

Scratching my head at who to even take at this point, don't wanna give any of the remaining guys my fictional money lol

I was considering WCS as a project, as well. Like the pick. Right off the bat he will be solid on defense and rebounds. Each year his game will expand and grow a little. If he keeps his head on right and tries hard, he has a chance at being very solid.

Hasn't been a big man that could make the game look this pretty in a while

What impresses me most is that he's already that polished at such a young age. I watched a ton of Duke games this year, and he always stood out. Winslow went #10, another teammate got drafted this year. And Jah stood out from those two, as well as anyone else on the court, the most. I think he can improve his free throw percentage to the 65-70% range in a few years. And if the Sixers are getting open and making their shots, I could see him averaging a good amount of assists right off the bat, due to his passing skills/double team frequency. Can't wait to watch him in the NBA.

He's so impressive. I'm not a big Duke fan by nature, but couldn't help but root for them this year with Winslow and Jah.

I think he's pretty much a lock to be solid and that you pretty much know what you're getting with him. Can't go wrong with a rim protector, pick and roll defender and offensive rebounder of his caliber.

Great pick in Thad. He was one of the best talents left on the board. Solid energy guy who is slightly undersized for a power forward, but that doesn't stop him from playing his game. Doesn't need to shoot a jumper to score 15-20 points, and versatile defensively. He should continue to put up solid numbers for the Nets next to Lopez in these upcoming years. And I feel like he's been in the league for like 10+ years, but he's only 27.

Thanks, I like his versatility to play both forward positions and be solid on defense. He's an energy guy who cleans up around the glass. Between him, Carroll, and Gordon I have 3 very versatile forwards to mix and match off the bench.

A while unfortunately. Won't happen until 3:58 AM EST.

The pick always seems to come after someone makes a call like this. I'm just glad it isn't me for once.

The Tyson Chandler in training, I liked him pre-draft. One day he'll be a key role player on a championship side, haha.

Haha pretty much. Big dudes who can run, jump and chew gum at the same time are never a bad thing. Hopefully the chew gum part pans out, might take some time tho

Plus he can do things like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYbOTAN4diY

I'm more interested by a play like this. A big guy who can keep up with a PG who's running the length of the floor is respectable in my book.

Offensively, if he gets 10ppg on putbacks and layups while not being a black hole who regularly turns the ball over or jacks up bad shots, then he should have a solid career wherever he goes.

Charles Piutau has no business being an All Black.

*listens to sound of no-one getting the reference*

With Draymond and Smoove being more versatile forwards, I wanted a more traditional backup. Davis brings athleticism with the ability to grab boards and block shots. He has a chance to start in Portland this year, where I could see him playing a nice role.

Good pick in Davis. He was on my shortlist. Was my main back up option for John Henson.

Thanks. Glad he was on someone else's shortlist as well.

Way more business than Jeremy Thrush, though. Let alone Sony Bill Williams

As a Canes fan, I can't really argue about Thrush. On Piutau, I'm more a fan of a certain Turbos winger/fullback who only got a Super Rugby call-up four years too late.

I don't know about 4 years but I like him a lot.
