[News] Zach Orr Continues To Impress

Orr stinks, penalty machine on special teams.

But yet he's getting 1st team reps while CJ is out.  Clearly he's horrible.  /sarcasm.

Taking reps in minicamp doesn't mean much, let me know when he runs with the 1st team in the reg season or camp.

Oz seems to have missed on Arthur Brown (I hope he proves us wrong), but he seems to have hit on another UDFA gem in Orr. I guess it all evens out. Can't be too disappointed.

"The Ravens have a long history of finding diamonds in the rough at inside linebacker. Bart Scott, Jameel McClain and Dannell Ellerbe were all undrafted free agents who thrived in Baltimore and eventually cashed in with big contracts" ,... ELSEWHERE!

Somehow this never has a happy ending for us!  :(

Now, don't go "Gotcha" and say, "Well, McClain blah, blah, blah,..."        You know what I meant about "Diamonds" walking away! :oldwiseman:

the "Diamonds" might walk away but Ozzie always finds more. If we were to pay those outrageous salaries our Diamonds are demanding we couldn't afford to have the quality backups we now have.

Very True. Let's also not forget that none of these diamonds that got paid elsewhere never lived up to the big contracts they got.

You it does, Ellerbe and MCClain were good for us but as soon as they left they faded into obscurity, Ellerbe got cut after 2 seasons in Miami! Edited by Cillmatic

Yup, but J.J. and Kruger went on to successful careers! Adaleus and Bar did also! Purnell McPhee will be a beast for somebody but my statement was about the kid!

Will we get him up to above-average and let him walk too?

Thomas and Scott went on to successful careers? You sure?

Ha I was gonna say, they both underpreformed drastically once they left

Let's not forget Priest Holmes was undrafted. Know he is on the offense side of the ball but he never gets mentioned as undrafted diamonds. I loved watching him run. He got a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens so whatever happened after that his career was complete. Ellerbe too has a ring so whatever happens with him I would consider it an Ok career.

You think he's not "trying to improve"? That he's comfortable sitting on the bubble and has no desire to become a starter - or at least a regular feature?

To be a 2nd rd pick for the Ravens and at the time brought in to replace Ray Lewis no I don't think that he is as motivated as he should be. There are too many good young players on our roster that are hungry and have showed improvement. Brown has been injuried but what about the things like getting into the weight room, he still looks the same as he did as a rookie. Some players eat sleep breathe football, I don't think his head is into the game. Like I said at least you can tell Elam loves this game and is trying to improve because he loves football. Some guys have heart some don't.

He's been a very pleasant surprise to me. When he made the cut over John Simon, whom I was impressed with, I admit I was genuinely surprised and even wondered what they saw in the pair of them to justify that call. But the way Zach Orr played on special teams last year erased all the questions I had in my mind. I saw John Simon playing with such a high motor and coming so close to getting sacks in the preseason games that I thought we had a real prospect with him. But when he was cut I started thinking. He was only Almost getting those sacks and they weren't against first teamers. Obviously, the coaching staff, who gets to see everything all day every day knew what they were doing. Zach Orr has done just fine and he's become a real leader on STs. Anybody know if Simon has done anything? I know he got picked up but I don't remember which team it was and if he's done anything. I'm a bit curious about that. Anybody know anything?
