During the season it was 4th which is great but don't say that our rush defense was great when New England literally ran the ball 4 times the entire 60 minutes we played them. False advertisement. Honestly we still don't know how the rushing defense will be without Ngata. I hope Jernigan steps up and doesn't have a sophomore slump.

The entire body of work isn't false advertising.

Mentioned this on the Carl Davis thread, but would probably be better suited here. Props to our scouts and Coach Brooks for reloading on this position year in and year out. Coach Brooks is really the unsung defensive coach we have developing stud D linemen.

I would venture to say that if our rush defense was suspect NE would have ran the ball more than 4 times; instead they decided to throw against our suspect secondary - which is ultimately where they had success.

We had the 3rd best rush-D last year and the best in the red zone.  I doubt that was a factor.

 

Also, I've sen speculation of Canty possibly being cut on these boards.  I doubt it happened since the Ravens need his experience at least for the first 8 weeks.  He's the only one on the defensive front with more than 10 years experience.  Further to that the Ravens would save just $205k by cutting him this year asn opposed to the $2.2M by cutting him next year.  I think he sticks around for 2015 and will be a situational player.
