[News] Eisenberg: Webb At Returner Worth Considering

53 posts in this topic

Eisenberg needs to be tested for Performance reducing drugs, this article is nonsense. "Webb, 29, is a veteran, smart enough to take care of himself." then why has he been hurt three different times. He is arguably our second best player in the secondary and the most expirienced. No way Jose.

Webb played poorly for the majority of the season. He never returned to form. I'm not sure that he hasn't lost his ability to play NFL receivers one on one as he was once able. If he "recovers" and plays his way into the #2 corner spot then it would be crazy to let him return punts.

If Jackson, Walker or Vaughn earns the #2 spot then Webb could be a good choice for returner along with Campanaro and Carter.

Butler is in competition for Playing Time as he will make the team barring injury. Keeping 6 receivers means Smith, Perriman, Brown, Aiken, Butler and IMO Waller. All are capable of good things in the NFL. It's just that 3 are proven and 3 are unproven. It will be interesting to see who gets on the field. IMO we will be rotating all 6 at some point or another during the season.

If Butler is as sure-handed and fast as this article states, give him a shot at returner. He makes the roster as a WR/ST player who isn't a starter.

Don't think he's quick or fast enough or they would've tried him already.

No, no, no!! Webb should NOT be considered or even be in the conversation for punt returner. He is too valuable as a CB for us and considering his past injury marred history, that would be simply insanity, imo.

Webb as a punt returner? Perish the thought. Just a plain stupid idea. Two major knee ops. that's all that should be said about it. Furthermore, Carter looks like a sleeper pick-up and could easily make the team as the punt returner.

Eisenburg is right though. Webb knows how to take care of himself. You think he isn't taking care of himself because he has tore his ACL twice? Thats a freak accident. It can happen to anyone who takes great care of their body. What he means is that he won't put himself in position to get hurt, such as taking big shots and trying to do to much. If it helps us win, I'm all for it.

It's looking like Butler is going to replace Campinaro on the roster. Waller is a rookie and they won't lose him. IR or makes the cut. No practice squad for a guy that tall with Tory Smith speed. Ozzie is to smart for that. I'd say at this point Campanaro is the guy on the bubble. He'll need to get healthy and stay that way or his season is over before it gets started. This is something new. To many good receivers. Feels good to tell the truth. It's going be an exciting season and the ravens are headed to SB 50. I have that 2000, this team is unbeatable kind of feeling for the first time since that monster defense. this time it's about the offense. Joe can score on any defense when he has a good O-line, which he has a top 3 easy and reliable receivers and TE's. Crocket has shown he can be that TE and Maxx shows all the potential to be also. As far the receivers go I think we have three solid ones with SSS, Aiken and Butler plus the speed of Perriman to stretch the field. Add in another solid running game and this is a championship team. I see another Lombardi this year. I don't think any team can stack up against the ravens. This is the balanced team in the NFL.

Can't edit so....This is the balanced team in the NFL. should read: "This is the most well balanced team in the NFL."

I think it would boost his confidence. You can't play the game to not get hurt. Both of his knee injuries were freak accidents. He bangned into Dez's knee cap, and hurt the other one non contact cutting. If you want to limit his snaps on the field then don't let him return. But I want to get the most out of him overall. We have other corners than can play.

NO! NO ! NO! Webb and Jimmy have both been somewhat injury prone... we need them healthy and no extra risks are advised! Lets just get Campanaro or Carter up to speed!

The Ravens are interest in Tarell Brown at Cb, sources say but I wonder should we wait for another quality corner to get cut. I would also like the Ravens to take a look at Red Bryant DT for veteran depth plus he could block FG as well maybe a 1 or 2 year deal.

This is all speculation.  Just because he wants to does not mean he will. Does Management want him to become injured again?? No .

These Patriots and Steelers fans are getting on my nerves. They were going off on CBS Sports and NBC Sports. We will get the respect we deserve. GO Ravens. :)

I want to know where it's proven that being a returner will significantly increase the chance of injury. Most teams probably punt about five times a game and not all five of those will get returned due to fair catches or touchbacks. Let's say two of those get returned per game. Do two plays really increase the odds so drastically that they shouldn't consider Webb if he's showing to be better than the others? Nah

This is a spot for someone more expendable than Webb. I'd prefer Webb only goes in when we need to make a fair catch. One of the WR's down the chart can step up. I hope someone else steps up and shakes his shoulders like Jermaine Lewis or dances like Jacoby Jones. Ed Reed knew how to rattle and freeze the opposition when he was doing it. There are so many ways to do it. It's up to the special teams coaches to find who has the talent to do this.

Webb was the best punt returner they ever had. He never got hurt doing that. I believe his injuries were playing defense.
