[News] Ravens Secondary Feeling Confident In Bounce Back

56 posts in this topic

I don't know why, but I have a great feeling about this team and the upcoming season.  I think we have all the pieces in place to be a truly great team.  Look how far they went w/ a decimated secondary! It's almost impossible to not be excited about a secondary of Hill, Lewis, Webb, Smith and Arrington.  Ozzie made a promise to rebuild the O-Line last off season and now he's working on the promise to rebuild the secondary.  If this secondary can perform as good as our O-line did last year, watch out opposing QBs, you're gonna have your hands full.

The real indicator of the secondary will show if someone steps up and moves Lardarius Webb further down the depth chart. I was not impressed at all with his play last year even at the end of the season, I certainly do not think he is worth what we are paying him.

I do appreciate his contribution to the community of Baltimore but he needs to step up his level of play big time IMO. If we have that kind of quality, we will probably be Ok!

even with a decimated secondary we were still a play away from going to the Super Bowl. If flacco's run of staying healthy continues through this season,i feel confident in saying we are headed to the super bowl.

A play away from the Conference Championship. But I like where your heads at!

I like the Arrington and K Lewis aquisitions. With Hill, Webb and Smith a solid secondary unit with Experience has been formed.  A commendable job by Oz. Lets hope no one ends up IR

Every year Ozzie seems to turn our biggest weakness into our biggest strength the following season, so i'm not worried about the secondary at all.

This secondary is going to be great. I'm way more confident about it this secondary than last year. Plus Elam and the the backups looks great too man. If any quality corner gets cut Ozzie should pick him up. Were great at corner but adding another outside corner will be icing on the cake.

Tho I don't agree I think that's fair to say. Indeed Webb was not impressive. But he was playing hurt and I actually appreciate that he suited up while he was so far from 100 percent. I don't believe Webb has declined that much physically as he's still 29 if I'm not mistaken. He has proved for years that he's the real deal. A solid NFL starter to say the least. I refuse to believe that he just lost it at all of a sudden. If someone beats out a healthy Webb then I'd say the ravens have the best secondary in the NFL ;) I do agree that he didn't play like 7mil dollars last year but he did take a straight up pay cut this season and I also appreciate that.

If the season starts today. The ravens have j.smith who is a top 5 CB in my books marking the best WR. L.Webb is still one of the best #2 CBs in the NFL marking the second WR and a solid slot CB in Arrington. W.Hill has been a top10 safety the past 2 years according to PFF. And all lewis has to do is hold his own. I think he's capable of doing that at least.

Our depth last year was horrendous. This year is a different story. The ravens have A.Jackson, Elam, Melvin and Brooks warming the bench waiting for their opportunities to arise. I'm not arguing that they are starters but they're really really good backups with upsides.

The depth was there, the injuries depleted it! Webb seems to have lost a step. He seems not as willing to make the big tackles too. This is all IMO. Have a great Father's day weekend Ravens Nation!

We can make up for his tackling now, we have 4 other elite tackling DB's on the field at once with Kendrick lewis, Kyle, Jimmy and Will.

I wonder why mink said released instead of just saying former patriot for kyle Arrington. Gave me a scare thinking the ravens released him

For me OTA's is about learning the playbook, and running them over and over, so once camp starts and the pads come on they can focus on the physical execution of the plays....I think every OTA camp the teams all said their players looked fast, and fluid, but we all know, its a totally different ball game come training camp.....

You're absolutely right Stixfix69.

We're seeing the youthful talent right now but the "smarts" will show up once they have the pads on. Since we only draft smart guys, I think they'll do well. Just stay healthy and positive!

Go Ravens!

Hats off to the secondary holding it down against the pats "CONSIDERING"! Ravens were in a position to take it all and threw it all away! Can't put all that pressure on a banged up secondary trying to score fast LEAVING a minute plus on the clock! A roll out to Gilmore would have put it away! Yup

I think a realistic goal for our secondary would be to rank in the top 10. Personally, I think if they can be AT LEAST a middle of the pack secondary, or even top 20, then that's all we need them to be. With the team we have right now, all we need them to be is reliable. However, being reliable is more of an expectation for this secondary, rather than a goal. I think IF this secondary stays healthy, with our pass rush they will be a top 10 secondary.

Real excited to see what the Ravens can do this year. Every year they are a top notch team, but this year the roster just seems stacked with talent, (that is if they can stay relatively healthy). I think even the media, which usually is in denial about the Ravens, senses just how powerful they are coming into 2015. This year has the potential to be a legendary season.......let's see, I can't wait! GO RAVENS!

Is it just me or is this preseason going to be more exciting to watch just because of all the depth and roster spots up for grabs.

Let's just pray for boredom !

This is the time of year you don't want News stories !

Unless it's Flacco sightings on the Jersey shores....

The only thing I wanna hear in the next 39 days is, "Pitta, Moseley, Wagner, Zuttah, Smith, Camp, Maxx, Cox are 100% and cleared to practice"

Oh and this headline, "Suggs shows up to camp at his 'fighting weight', he's ready".
