[News] Late For Work 6/18: Predicting 2015 Starting Offense

71 posts in this topic

Hope you have a lot of other good players on your team then, otherwise you're not going to do very well.

Are you trying to say that Flacco won't have career numbers this year with that WR/TE/RB/OL team that he has.

The less pressure put on perriman the better in my opion if butler stays healthy he'll get that starting spot and it will be a rotation between steve smith on some snaps with perriman aiken and marlon brown

Entirely possible he won't. New OC, largely inexperienced/unproven WR/TE core.

For some perspective, Flacco essentially had a "career" season last year... highest number of yardage, most TDs, least amount of turnovers in a single season his career.

That made him the 11th best fantasy QB across most leagues. From a fantasy perspective, he's got pretty much ZERO shot of being a top 5 QB, and even with career numbers, he would struggle to finish inside the top 10.

Problem is???  Even when he does put up the numbers he's still not a good Fantasy pick....  Never has been.  That doesn't mean he isn't going to have a stellar season.  He had his best season of his career last year.  And, all reports are stating that the offense is glowing.  It's been seamless and no real changes at all from last year, simply some language, but all in all the same offensive scheme.

I hate this assessment that we can't keep both Yanda and Osemele; Why not?! Kansas City used to have one of those monster lines with Brian Waters and Will Shields. They also had Willie Roaf and Casey Wiegmann on that line and all got paid. The result? Go ask Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Johnnie Morton, Eddie Kennison and Trent Green. Ozzie if someone can find a way to get it done, you can.

The problem is that if you're running a fantasy team, and you've got the 11th best QB in a 10 or 12 team league (standard size of most leagues), you're not in real great shape.

Has nothing to do with whether he's great in the clutch or in the postseason or anything else. The poster said she wants Joe as her fantasy QB, in which I'm telling them that's not typically a great thing, nor is it likely to be.

Basically, your first statement agrees with literally everything I said. Never has been a great fantasy QB, likely never will be.

The only two coaches ahead of Harbaugh were New England's Bill Belichick and Seattle's Pete Carroll. And Harbs should be ahead of Pete Carroll...... He should be coming in at #2

Attn Mom Gene,   So If John Harbough was a Cheater like Bellychit then he'd probably would be number 1, John Harbough wouldn't even know how to cheat

Webb as punt returner, no way, give the young guy Carter the job, there's no need in risking injury to anyone, I really don't want injuries being our downfall this season.

some of it kind of depends on how the other guys behind them come along- if they dont have a sure fire replacement for one of them, i think ozzie no doubt will try to work his magic and retain both of them. it will definitely be a large task, but do-able. esp with some of the money coming off the books and if they can work out something reasonable with joe. but if one of those guys behind them really step up and show that they can carry the load- oz will be less hesistant to let one of them walk- K.O will probably be the next man out to maximize his earnings if that is the case, but anything can happen.

Oh, I agree.....   Definitely...  100%.

But the league and everyone around it thinks that Bellichek is a saint and God's gift to coaches.

Nobody will admit that Bellichek cheats...  but he does.  We know it... and that's all that matters.

Because Flacco, Yanda, and KO, would take up a good portion of the 2016 cap.

I'm not a fantasy person... and I don't judge a QB or any player by where they stand in fantasy....  I judge players by wins and losses... and I very seldom rely on stats.... mainly because our game plan doesn't fit into the QBR stat race...  We are a run-first offense...  Sure, there are other stats you can use, but until they stop judging QB on Passer ratings, our QB won't look "stellar".

My point was that Joe can... and has every bit of potential to have an even better season this year than he did last.

Unfortunately, Osemele will likely go the way of Ben Grubbs. Especially with how happy the team seems to be with our "super subs". Keep an eye out for Robert Myers in the preseason. Could be the next fifth round gem.

Cool. The discussion was strictly related to Joe Flacco, the fantasy QB.

It it possible to sign both if we could somehow extend one of them this year. The best strategy would be to extend K.O. this year because he's younger and will cost more if we sign him next year and will save a lot of money. Then we could sign Yanda next year because Yanda is older and probably want a 3 to a 4 year deal hopefully Joe will help us out to free some cap space to sign other players. But according to Wilson, K.0. is unlikely to extend this year is unlikely so this great strategy unlikely won't happen but if we extend Yanda instead of K.O. this year then it's very unlikely we would sign K.O next season because he will definitely cost too much to sign by bring a free agent.

You can win a Lombardi with a good offense, a good defense and mediocre return game. DO NOT PUT WEBBY OR JIMMY BACK THERE. So not worth the risk. Webb has one punt returned for a touchdown in his career. He isn't all of a sudden going to turn into Jacoby Jones for us. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

@bnyce52 I agree do no put Webby or even Jimmy into the return game they are too vulnerable to important to this team. We need them to stay healthy this year.

Darn Johnathan Joesph gets extended 3 years 22M with 11.5M guaranteed. I was hoping the Texans would cut him and let Ozzie scoop him up all well our secondary looks great anyway maybe another quality corner will get cut.

I worry about talk of our starting CB doing one of the most brutal duties in football, which is returning punts. We're just asking for him to be injured. There has to be someone else on the roster that can do it at a high level instead.

doubtful. If you signed one this year you would essentially be banking on Joe Flacco to take a re-tool of his OWN contract. Remember at the end of this season Joe Flacco's Salary cap hit jumps from like 12.5 mil or 15 mil ALL the WAY to 28 Million. SO with only what 7 mil left over this year, to issue a BIG Money deal, and prety much roll the dice, and you might wind up like The Saints Trading away Jimmy Graham because if Flacco doesnt re-negotiate a contract then you are way in the red and that would be WAY worse then losing just Kelechi. Cause remember depending on the type of trade, you still might have to eat his Salary cap space. IF you would try to give one of the two a mega deal. Just saying

@BmoreFanatic wait a minute you are confusing me you saying that we shouldn't extend either K.O. or Yanda even if we have the chance because of Joe contract. I thought extending either K.O. or Yanda would free up cap space and if Joe doesn't re-negotiate his contract there still no way that Ozzie would trade him. I don't understand what your saying.

Before anyone starts to panic about Perriman's drops, just remember: Torrey reportedly dropped an awful lot of passes - with easier ones amond them - during his camp. And that was the big camp, in August, not the minicamp. And then look what happened to him...

Agreed. And really like hearing "constantly getting open" comment... haven't heard that about our wr's in awhile
