[News] Ravens' Offensive Line Continuity Is Rare

21 posts in this topic

The most vital chess piece of any team, the offfensive line. They are like rooks on a chess board. Protect the QB, who in turn, throws the ball downfield. Open gaps for the backs and protect punters and FG kickers. We are fortunate to have these quality starters and subs. We may have the best unit in the NFL. Trestman savors it.

Last year everyone was talking about how the O-line was the weakest link. Everyone was pissed when Dallas jumped ahead of us and took Zack Martin. The O-line did great, even with the injuries. Wagner proved he was a starter. Now all 5 starters are back and healthy. The back up could start on other teams. Our O-line is one of the best in the NFL.

Anyone who doesn't think the continuity to improve with the same excellent O line isn't a huge deal, just think back a couple of years. I vividly recall watching our O line struggles, alternating cussing at the TV...or audibly groaning. When Joe is protected and lanes open up, good things will surely follow.

Heard some guys were making concentration mistakes near the back half of practice. Just remind people, we're not gluttons for pain with all this conditioning and fast pace play - we literally start our season in the most hostile environment stamina-wise, so you better be ready to run with those boys in Mile High. We will not start this season by conceding a game to a Conference opponent.

Joint practice and scrimmaging with the Eagles will help us out tremendously.

Winning the battle in the trenches is the way to have a winning team. This year the Ravens should be dominant on both sides of the ball. It's going to take an extraordinary effort to beat this team.

I remember when a lot of people here were calling for Castillo's head to be served up (myself included). What a difference a couple of new personnel and a new scheme make.

Thanks Oz, and thanks Juan, we're locked and loaded, bring on September.

Having the same quality o-line together with quality backups was one of the most exciting things going into this year.

Certainly seems unlikely that this quality OL of ours will continue to remain the same after this upcoming season, but one can always hope. I'm doing a lot of hoping in that regard right now.

Right now, Jah Reid is running with the 1s while Wagner recovers.  This scares the crap out of me.

Is he the best option right now for a backup RT?

EDIT:  Never mind, if this was the season, they'd do like last year.  Bump Yanda to RT and play Urschel or Hurst at RG.

I'm a homer without a doubt, but these guys are the best O-Line in the NFL. It's going to be a sad day when Yanda or KO get lured away next year. Either way its been amazing watching this group play...never will forget the McKinnie and Oher days. Even back then Yanda and KO where wrecking people on the inside.

One more Superbowl for Flacco with this group would be great

Barring injuries that Ravens only concerns I have is 1. The OC. I'm sure about him ..yet. 2. The secondary. 3 The Backup running back. 4. Returner, but Ravens can always fair catch those. Really that's not much.

thats a good point. that thin air in mile high will really test some of these rookies stamina wise. not just the rookies either- i hope suggs gets it together-  however im sure he knows what hes up against by now.

This is extremely important,... to have these guys back for 2 years gives us an improved chance of having a dynamic running game, an effective unit!
