[News] 6/16: Minicamp News And Notes: Justin Tucker's Kicks Lead To Great Exchange

I'm disappointed to hear Perriman had early struggles, he NEEDS to get those drops in order, because I really don't want to have a conversation in January with you all talking about how we could've went to the SB if Perriman had of caught that pass. I'm not saying that'll happen, everyones entitled to an off day, but coaches take these things into account and I just want him to be as great as possible. Gotta be ready to deal with the fast pace, in games and crunch time things get hectic but ya gotta be able to deal under pressure and stay focused. #TUFFLOVE #GOPERRIMAN!

Butler, Aiken and Marlon will all make the team besides Smith Sr. and Perriman. The question remains if we carry 6 or 7 receivers this year? If we carry 6, it is between Campanaro, Carter and Robinson to duke it out for 1 or 2 final roster spots.

Perriman needs to get his act together now. This excuse of lack of focus drops won't fly in the NFL. And add to that the fact that he's incredibly talented. He needs to make every catch thrown in his catching radius period.

If Perriman wants to play he'll start catching everything. We've got 5 other great receivers who will step up in a minute if he starts to slip. Once he sits on the bench for a minute his confidence will improve!!!

Great?  I agree with the sentiment, but great?  Hmm... that is a bit of an enormous stretch.

I like the idea of a receiver catching bricks for a while. I guess getting smacked in the head a couple times with a brick cured Jerry Rice of any potential lapses of concentration !

Just sayin....

Steve Smith Sr is one of my all time favorite Ravens! He has played like a Raven his whole career. His sense of humor is great and he brings a fiery attitude that will help to shape some of these younger receivers, I hope. I can't wait to see how our receiving group breaks out this year. When this season does finally get started, it's really going to get exiting fast..!

I don't see why people are so shocked at perriman's drops so early in minicamp. The scouting report on perriman clearly said that he had a tendency to drop balls. You don't go from doing that in college to automatically catching everything in the NFL. Breshad is going to have growing pains. We shouldn't stress out as fans. Did the torrey smith experience teach some of you nothing?

Perriman said the biggest difference between rookie minicamp and legit team minicamp was the speed of the game. It's possible that he had more drops than usual earlier in practice because of that. He adjusted and caught tough ones later on in practice. I'm not worried about breshad, mainly because i knew he'd have growing pains in his rookie season to begin with.

!!!!!!!!!!!......Breshad Perriman buddy if you read this just always remember life is about getting better everyday and who you are right now as a player will be totally different in five years if you work your BUTT off. The greatest receiver ever JERRY RICE had problem with drops early in career, so yea stay focus kid.

Too bad nobody's perfect. No one catches everything their way even in practice. Breshad is already makng strides with his hands. He'll get better with more teaching.

It seems more fans get un nerved with his dropped balls than he does. With the vet leadership and ramped up practice he should adjust and succeed.

Love to hear that SSS is teaching the rookies the right mental attitude. SSS got on both Boyle and Carter after a strip and an incompletion for not hustling afterwards. Beyond helping with the skill development, the mental toughness lessons leave me grateful that SSS is on the field and is being a great mentor in all aspects of the game. Makes me feel more confident in this young receiving corps knowing that SSS is doing ALL he can to get these guys NFL ready.

You gotta love SSS! I know that if I was on the team, I'd be striving to earn his praise and doing everything I could to avoid his wrath. I love the guy's attitude. I will admit that there are times during games that I would like to see him turn it down just a very slight notch to avoid potential Unsportsmanship penalties. But, I just hold my breath at those times and remind myself about how much he inspires his teammates.

You gotta love SSS passion of making himself and everyone else around him better.  I'm confident we would have won at least one more Superbowl if we had him 5 years earlier.

Good job Tucker on that 67 yard FG.  I'm sure if given the chance you would have kicked one of similar distance to beat San Diego last season.

"He dropped A FEW passes..." How many then, because it seems like a sugar coating. If they start coming in bunches - an obvious concentration problem - how the hell does he expect to stay focused during a regular season NFL game when there is something real on the line.

If this were any other rookie receiver, it wouldn't be news. He will be heavily scrutinized for drops and fans (and self-styled scouting experts) will play chicken little every time a report is made that he dropped a ball.

I only hope he doesn't listen to this stuff and ends up putting more pressure on himself than there already is.

67 yards! Tuck, you're amazing! Show him the money! Actually, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him franchised next year. He's worth top 5 money and more. He'd probably be a bargain at that price. And Perriman, I'm not concerned in the least. The list of receivers coming into this league that struggled with drops to begin with is enormous, including Torrey, close to home, and the GOAT, Jerry Rice. Lighten up, everybody, and cut the man some slack. It's his FIRST NFL camp, for pete's sake. He Will get this straightened out. You're reading how SSS is influencing all these young guys. Do you not think he can help Perriman as well? He'll turn out just fine and I really believe we'll all love this guy before all is said and done.

dear god, the boo birds are already out and a wr who MOST of us were praising just a few days ago. do you all realize that perriman has NEVER played or practiced against a NFL defense? not once in his entire life, has he faced any defender with snaps in the NFL, and you all wanna hound him about not immediately adjusting to the increase in competition the very first time he plays against an NFL defender? do you all not realize he is facing jimmy freaking smith out there? jimmy made brandon marshall look like demetrius williams, he makes AJ green a non factor twice a year, he had nearly a flawless day in his man coverage against calvin johnson and only gave up catches in zone assignments, and you want to badmouth perriman for a few miscues when his first reps are against an elite nfl corner? get real people

So all during OTAs, Perriman I can only recall reading had one drop.  He drops a few yesterday and the sky is falling??

BTW, after practice yesterday he dropped his gloves walking off the field...cut him now!!   [/sarcasm]

I don't mind the drops in practice Torrey Smith couldn't catch a cold at first SSS. drops a few here and there. Plus he's a rookie playing with vets for the first time. the game speed has picked up a little. with that being said, he needs to learn how to focus. The focus drops excuse is only going to fly but for so long.

every WR drops balls. As long as he catches the passes that count like a big 3rd down play or TD when the games count I'll be happy.

They say he catches the difficult ones...  I'm looking forward to that too.

I won't worry about Perryman dropping balls till mid season, and then only if it is constant and directly results in multiple losses, same at the one year point. Otherwise I'll wait until 1 year in plus the first two or three games of the 2016 season and then evaluate. Even then I'll look for progress. I was crazy about the Ravens picking him worried about drops but after kind OP's directed me to scouting reports on players who matched his report (OBJ and Arian Foster) I rethought my approach to judging him.
