2015 Baltimore Ravens Expectations

159 posts in this topic

I think this year we may go 11-5 and win the division. Only because the Ravens are famous for losing at least 1 winnable game each year.

You know what, I hate to say this but darnit if it aint true. Just hope it isnt an AFC opponent at least.

really dont understand why so many ppl see San Fran as a threat. Im not worried about them in the least. it will be fun to watch torrey and boldin go up against our guys- but thats about it. after the 2012 superbowl we will always be san fransiscos daddy.  they have been on the decline ever since- and the loss of jim harbaugh is only going to make matters worse. i dont think we will blow them away- but i think we stroll through this game rather easily. i think ppl are looking too much into the west coast trips. yeah it could be a small factor- but not enough to impact the games one way or the other. absolute worst case scenario is 10-6. and as long as we get our ticket to the dance its all she wrote.

For just once, I would like to see us do well enough to be the #1 seed with the road to the championship coming through Baltimore. Everyone has to have a dream and that's mine.

Would be nice, but the Ravens just aren't a finesse team. We are in a punch 'em in the mouth, grind it out division that will cause many of 9-7,10-6, and the occasional 11-5 seasons. To go 13-3 or better you need to be in a weak division. Until our smash mouth cultured division is over, which I dont see that happening for quit some time, we will be a 4,5,6 seed playoff team.

That's a great point but i disagree. It's not the division we play in that spots us from winning that extra game or 2 to be a #1 or #2 seed. I think it's more of a deep rooted philosophical issue. I personally feel that as long as the Ravens take the great defense and the offense just has to be good enough mentality, we'll loss bad games. No way we should have lost to the Texans last year or the Bills a couple years ago and others. Now some could say that because this division beats each other up so much that we lay eggs in outta division games. But i think it's more about having a offense that is consistent imo. Those games that the offense just comes out dead kills us imo. I agree with what you say about the division being tough but i think the offense being a consistent threat will allow us to finally have the AFC run through the Bank.

I think a top 5 defense as well is what we'll have. I think our offense and defense will rank in the top ten, or at least our offense will be very close to a top ten offense statistically at 11 or 12.

we just need to be consistent, go out and play to our potential not to the talent our whoever we are playing. I think our first game should and will set the tone for the season.

I see 12 wins with a loss to piss sorry I mean pitt, cincy,Arizona and the chargers ,,,,  what is our weakness or safety,,,outside of that we have the talent ,we have depth, Most of all we have that hunger after loosing to N.E,,,

I tell everybody we will be in the SUPERBOWL,,

I agree that this is what history proves the Ravens to be. Out of 23 playoff appearances, we had only 5 at home for a 3-2 record. I don't agree that we need to be in a weak division to take a top seed, although good teams in weak divisions generally are higher ranked more often than not.. Every team in the NFL can be beat, we simply have to play better than our opponents to achieve this going forward.

and if anything this is the year we can start changing that. With our first couple draft picks focusing on offense and trestman coming in it looks like our offense has the potential to make significant strides and hopefully reduce the number of games where we just come out dead to a bare minimum. Now I don't necessarily expect everything to magically change in year 1 - these young guys need to be groomed a bit - maxx in particular. But this year will be a start in the right direction. And the good thing is we didn't have to slack off on our defense in order to improve the offense. If anything we improved both. Which is why I give us a real shot at going all the way this year.

I'm not one to predict the out come of a game much less a season. There's just too many variables and all the stars need to align to win the tournament. But I will say this......It seems that the 2015 Ravens squad has the potential to be the most complete in the history of the franchise. Definitely excited about what could be this season.

Agreed. It's just a feeling, but this could be a very special season for the Ravens.

Why do I see people posting we will lose to San Fran?

Because it's possible?

Not anymore, with all the internal tension over there they won't be focused on the game, not to mention the "unexpected" retirements. They just lost thor Pro Bowl Alternate RT the other day. They seem done. I feel bad for Torrey, he's about to have his worse season ever. Bad QB with no Pass protection, lined up on the same side Sherman, Peterson and Jenkins line up on and on top of that he can't run routes.

Yea i love the youth of this team overall and not just youth but very talented youth. I can careless if Flacco is viewed as a elite guy or whatever, he's good enough to win Super Bowls and i thought that was the point. Now the FO is focusing on getting him great protection and great weapons. I can see this team start to consistently play like they play in the playoffs and if that happens not many can beat the Ravens.

Then as you say the defense is young and talented as well. If the offense can consistently start fast in games, this youth, fast defense will wreck havoc. If you can have Suggs, Doom, Timmy and Upshaw/ZDS focused on just hunting while Buck and CJ can mix and match coverage with blitzing, i think Pees will be able to come up with some serious schemes with the secondary. I really want Elam around the LOS blitzing like Webb and Ed did years back. I think he'll be at his best in that role. But if given a lead this defense will kill.

We've lost to some worse teams though. When we lay an egg, ee really do it up

Are looking incredibly high. I have my hopes up. The depth chart is looking impressive, not seeing any weaknesses and others are seeing the same as the post draft power rankings are putting us top 5. I've seen us top 2. Teddy Bruschi says we have the best roster in the league right now! I'm seeing a great season for us. Hopefully homefield advantage.

Interesting snippet from an Evan silva article on Rotoworld.....

015 Vegas Win Total

The Ravens' Vegas projection is nine wins, which may seem conservative for a team that's averaged 10.4 victories over the last half decade. Vegas' win projections are inherently conservative, however, and nine wins is actually eighth highest in the league. I like the over on Baltimore this year. Getting CB Jimmy Smith back healthy is enormous for the secondary, and offensively the Ravens should be able to dominate games with their offensive line early while the passing game gradually progresses over the course of the season. While I wouldn't characterize the Ravens' schedule as an easy one, it does consist of 14 opponents with win projections under nine, including Cleveland (6.5) twice, Jacksonville (5.5), and Oakland (5.5).

Don't ever sleep on the Steelers to the poster at the beginning of this thread. Their offense will possibly be a Top 10 offense and Big Ben is still one of the best at backyard football with Top 5 RB in Bell and Top 5 WR in Brown.

Yeah I don't see how everyone is saying that they are going to suck. Their offense is going to be very dangerous. Defense may be middle of the pack though, so we'll see. No matter how good or bad they are, it's going to be all out war when we play them.

Look back at recent history, the Ravebs tend to blow by top offenses, Saints we're ranked the top offense in the league last year and that game was over by the beginning of the fourth Quarter, same goes for the Falcons, they had a top offense and we blew them out. We blew the overrated Steelers offense out TWICE last year and in one of those games we had virtually no starting caliber DB's.
