2015 Baltimore Ravens Expectations

159 posts in this topic

I said Seattle is better than any of the teams we LOST to AT home over the past 2 years.

We lost to the following teams AT home the last 2 years; CIN, SD, GB, NE.

IMO, SEA is better than all of them.

I actually think New England and Seattle are were pretty even last year - New England had the top offense in points scored and 8th ranked defense in points given up, while Seattle had the top scoring defense and 8th scoring offense.  The one thing that may actually give us a favorable matchup vs. Seattle compared to New England is that we were a much better rushing defense than a passing defense last year, and Seattle's offense is much more run-oriented than New England's.  So if we can keep that up, I think we have a better shot of winning an arial battle against Seattle than we would against New England.

12-4. Win afc north. Playoffs run through the bank. Then off to san fran. Call me a homer all you want- i call it how i see it.

I agree. especially if Waller and Allen can contribute early and keep forsett/Smith SR rested for the playoffs. We have a great set of WRs via talent and ability, Perrimen, SSS, Marlon, Aiken, Camp, Waller, and worthy. I think we have the offense to go deep and play middle and run. we are finally what looks like to be a well rounded offense and the defense is younger and faster in the front 7 as well as more talented then a year ago in the back 4. If Flacco can increase his PA and deep ball plays, Ravens go 13-3 and Flacco becomes 2X MVP.... (Seriously guys, if Breshad and Waller can prove to be our 1 and 2 receivers, Ravens could put themselves in position to go back to back as well.)

I fail to see how that's true. I don't think they're better than any team we faced in the past two years. I think they're very overrated by many people. They're not a bunch of bums, but they're coming here to our house and I think our chances are great at beating them. I think we have a better shot at beating them than they do us.

I have to agree with you that they are a very overrated team. I don't think they come to Baltimore and beat us period.

I think this year we may go 11-5 and win the division. Only because the Ravens are famous for losing at least 1 winnable game each year.

Well I guess I didn't read that closely, but after going back and checking I still think it's debatable. We lost to the Packers in 2013 and I think the Chargers were a good team last year. We also beat the Texans at home in 2013, and that was before they sucked.

I think your opinion is debatable. I just strongly disagree. I think we beat the Seahawks. The only way I see them beating us is if we have key injuries to critical players

In 2013 they didn't the Texans earn the #1 pick in the 14 draft?

Chargers I guess you can say are decent, but I think if they play the Hawks, Hawks win 8/10 times, with last year being 1 of the 2.

@DEN   - W  -  come out firing on all cylinders, defense has a strong showing and puts a beating on peyton.  (34-17)

@OAK   -W   -  we get off to a slow start in the first half, but end up getting the victory rather easily. offense starts really clicking in 2nd half. (24-10)

CIN        -W  - tight game thats gets won by a justin tucker feild goal on final drive of the game.( 24-21)

@PIT     -L    - another slow start, we try to fight back but come up short. our d-line finally gives up a 100 yard rusher to bell. (17-10)

CLE       -W   - we beat the breaks off of them and put on a show for the home crowd. this is where the offense begins to catch fire. (42-7)

@SF      -W   - another strong performance from flacco and the offense. kendrick and jimmy get a pair of picks in a poor performace from kaepernick. (31-14)

@AZ      -L    -we get an early lead but start to sleep on them in the 2nd half, palmer gets them the victory in a close one. (28-24)

SD         -W   -another classic slow start, rivers make a run in the 4th quarter and as last year starts to replay in our heads will hill takes an interception to the house for the win. (23-13)

JAX       -W   -we were expected to come in and dominate this game and guess what? thats exactly what we do. (38-13)

STL       -L  - This is one of those games that we just fall apart. nothing is working on offense and despite the defense keeping us in it, it just wont be enough. ( 16-7)

@CLE    -W -this will be one of those afc north specials. we win this one on the ground with a pair of touchdowns from tali.(17-14)

@MIA    -W- our vacation to miami. this game really helps us get into a groove and we head back to the bank with confidence. (29-13)

SEA      -W - a close game, but lynch cant get anything going on the ground. will hill shuts down jimmy graham on a failed 2 pt. conversion and SSS burns richard sherman to put the game away. (28-24)

KC       -L  - a discouraging loss in a back in forth game. kansas city kicks a feild goal to win it in overtime. (37-34)

PIT       -W - feild goals arent going to win this game, another nail biter but a bomb to perriman wins it. (16-10)

@CIN   -W  - jimmy smith and the defense has a steller performance  and the ravens head into the postseason with steam and home feild advantage (26-13)

12-4 ; AFC North Champions, will face the winner of Dallas @ Green Bay in superbowl 50.

They sure did, but the Texans played fine until that game against us. Granted, it's hard to say they were playing fine when they won two games straight and we were their third game, so I'll understand if someone wants to throw it out the window. Still, I don't think they played bad until they came to play us. That's when the wheels seemed to fall off the truck.

Yeah. It's just like this...I like how we match up against them. Will Hill already took Graham out of the game once. I don't see a reason why he can't repeat his success. We lost McPhee, but our pass rush should still do very well against their OL, which just lost its freaking center in Unger. Marshawn Lynch is a beast but he's also a year older. They aren't as deep at CB as they were. Simon doesn't look like a legitimate CB in the NFL and Lane won't be around until late if he even plays. I'm not sure they want to carry him on their roster or as an IR/DR candidate. They lost Maxwell at CB. It's just Sherman and a bunch of other guys with Chancellor and Thomas.

If you don't think there will be growing pains, I think you're mistaken.

BTW, I use the word 'you' generally. I am not referring to you specifically, Edgar. I'm building off of your comment, lol.

I think some are really sleeping on what Juice will be able to do in this offense. I actually don't think we'll get a ton from the WR position in terms of a bunch of guys getting catches, which is one of the reasons i only see us keeping 5. I think we'll see Trestman using a ton of multiple TE sets with Juice as a mismatch out the backfield. Even if Pitta doesn't play i still see the Ravens passing a lot more these season then last and because of that they'll be more catches to go around. I can see Juice having 30-40 catches this year with a couple TDs.

I don't even need to read the rest after I saw you predicted us to start 5-2. If we do that with the numerous west coast trips and tough road games early on, then I would almost guarantee a #1 seed, barring major injury.

Man, I got goosebumps reading that chargers outcome you put. I had to chime in on this one though... How do you see a medicore(if that) dome team like the rams coming into M&T bank stadium and knocking us off? The rams are aweful on the road. I can see a close game, maybe? Or maybe a loss AT st.louis. Edited by edreed2o

i don't know really, it just seems like every year we lose Atleast one game to a team we were "supposed" to beat. Just a hunch that might be this game. Don't get me wrong- I could definitely see a scenario where we win this game and go 13-3 as well. Also- I don't think us starting out 5-2 is far fetched at all. It won't be easy with the west coast trips and what not- but we have the team to do it- and if we get through the first half of the season with Atleast 6 wins I think we will be in an extremely good position to run away with not only the afc north but possibly Atleast the number 2 seed. not sure if I misunderstood your post or not- but you say number 1 seed like this is something that the ravens aren't capable of? I know we have a tendency to have to go on the road for the playoffs- but that's gotta change sooner or later. This year is better than any.

losing at home to st louis 16-7?? holy lol. also no way we win 3/4 west coast games that early in the season. anybody that knows the ravens, knows we dont start off the season like that on the road.

as i said, theres usually atleast one game a year that we just totally bomb. i think the fact that were home doesnt really matter if we just cant get things going. st louis is one of them sleeper teams that look bad one day and come out the next day and dominate. however, history doesnt always repeat itself, so we may actually beat who we are supposed to beat all year. wouldnt be surprised at all if we beat them rather easily. and just bc we have started out the season poorly on the road in the past doesnt mean this year wont be a first. if we can take out denver week 1, anything can happen. that will set the tone for the entire year. we get past denver- then obviously we would probably get through oakland no problem. then we go to take on the afc north at 2-0...no reason why we cant atleast split those games.

Here's how I see it...

Most Likely Wins - Raiders, Browns x2, Jaguars
Decent Chance to win - Dolphins, 49ers, Rams, Bengals (Home), Steelers (Home), Chiefs, Chargers
50/50 - Broncos, Steelers (Away), Bengals (Away), Seahawks, Cardinals.

I think we should win 12 games, but there's always a few slip ups. I see no worse than 10-6. My literal prediction is 11-5, First Place in Division. As long as the secondary holds we'll be fine. I think that the secondary is dangerous right now and will stay that way unless we lose Webb or Smith, where we would still be above average, just slightly more vulnerable. With the ability to beat any team, I predict the Ravens to win the Superbowl :) #Ballsoharduniversity

I also believe that Flacco proves his eliteness with a great TE and WR core, plus some clutch throws. Justin Forsett has another great year, but due to tremendous RB depth, it will not be as great as last year. Same with Steve Smith SR, another great year, but with an outstanding WR core, his role will be reduced to keep his legs fresh and ready for a superbowl run.

The first half of the season is not beneficial.  We play 5 of 8 on the road. That is the journey to a great season if we can win six of those 8.  I wonder what the odds are for a 15-1 or a 13-3 season for the great Baltimore Ravens?.  We need to be injury free or have great backups for the guys on IR. I'm rooting for Dennis .  After all I have a fabulous embroidered away 88 jersey that needs to be worn in Steeler hangouts around here

i guarantee you both cleveland games are no gimme. their defense will be tough next season no doubt. the 2nd cleveland away game could easily be a trap game.

I honestly believe that if everyone stays healthy and our people develop as they are expected to we are a super bowl level team.

Being a level headed Ravens and NFL fan, and understanding the lack of parity in this league and the history of this team under the harbaugh-flacco era, this is my 2015 season prediction. Although we will be a good team, I don’t see us being much better than last year, due to a lot of questionable/ yet to be proven replacements (aka Perriman, Williams, Kendrick Lewis, etc). But keep in mind, we were a solid team last year, except for our secondary woes and that dip we took mid to late season.

@ DEN  L (27-24 OT Loss) ..Fans expect a shootout but ends up being a defensive game with late scoring, Denver pulls a tough overtime win for the home crowd. Peyton seems a bit rusty but pulls through. Flacco plays decent.

@OAK   W   (38-14) ..We come out blasting the raiders defense, Flacco and the WR’s have a big game.

CIN   W  (20-16) ..Close game, but with a big game from forsett we finally beat cincy and pull out win first game at home.

@PIT  L   (23-21) ..Typical close, physical game on both sides, but Pittsburgh wins the chess match.

CLE    W   (26-13) ..First half is tight, second half we put it to them, fairly easy win.

@SF   L  (27-17) ..San Fran pulls the upset, kap has big game with his legs. We hear it from 49ers fans all week that they should’ve won super bowl XLVII while we laugh at them and call them stupid.

@AZ   W  (35-14) ..We take it to AZ, huge defensive game with a couple picks.

SD   L  (31-24) ..Tough game against imo one of the best AFC teams in 2015, Stays close but Rivers upsets us yet again and Melvin Gordon has big game and we go into bye with a 4-4 record, and fans start questioning the season.

JAX    W  (33-9) ..We rest up and turn right back around and destroy jax on both sides of ball, coming out party for Perriman.

STL   W  (28-17) ..Solid defensive game and solid performance from the O puts us at a record of 6-4, continuing our fight for playoff spot.

@CLE   L  (16-13 OT loss) ..Our one trap game of the season,  Clevelands D shuts us down and we begin to question playoff hopes yet again.

@MIA   W  (45- 38) ..Both teams come out firing in sunny Miami, this will be one of the best games of the season, both teams fighting for playoff spot and we come out on top. Flacco and Tannehill both have huge games. The whole week leading up to this game all the fantasy football analysts are telling you to start these two QBs, and this game proves them right.

SEA  L  (19-17) ..Tough low scoring game for the full 60 minutes. Reminds us of CLE game 2 weeks ago, but sloppy all around. Bad weather. The current ravens MB game thread is on fire with anger. LOB and our secondary cause both flacco and wilson to throw at least a pick or two, but a last minute field goal by seattle puts them on top after a frustrating day.

KC   W  (23-6) ..This game we come out playing sound, mistake free football and begin to run the table for the rest of the season.

PIT   W  (27-20) ..Our team knows what’s at stake, close game but we come out on top with a defensive stand and solid run game for the full 60 minutes.

@CIN   W  (34-10) ..We travel to cincy fired up, while theyre struggling from a tough season and hanging on by a thread. This leads to an easy blowout win, putting the dagger in cincys playoff hopes in their own town, causing the eventual firing of marvin lewis, and we cruise into the playoffs with a 10-6 record, 2nd in afc north behind Pittsburgh.

If the team is healthy heading into playoffs (especially secondary and offensive line), we have the potential to at least make it to AFC championship… possible rematch with chargers, who may be number 1 seed in AFC. We beat them in Diego, we’re in the bowl playing against Seattle or Green Bay.

19-0 with Flacco breaking the passing record and Forsett breaking the rushing record and the defense being 2000 level.

Now as for what I really think, I think we can win a super bowl but there are multiple teams each year that are capable as well. I am hopeful we make the playoffs and the ball bounces our way at the end of the day but we will just have to see

Yea I agree that it's his job to lose, I just want someone else that's already in the system to step up and be a better player so he has the luxury of being brought along at a steady pace. I'd rather have two guys good enough be WR2 than two WR3's with one getting the nod because he's a first rounder, if that makes any sense.

I hope Perriman is able to start week 1 but I think it's far from a lock.

Don't be shocked if Aiken is a week 1 starter. And if he or Brown does that's not an indictment on Perriman.

Torrey didn't break out til week 4. He'll have a large role regardless of who starts and by about week 6 I expect him to be our #1 target.
