where is this notion coming from that arthur brown can play OLB? OLB in a 3-4 and OLB in a 4-3 are extremely different positions, and with arthur brown being considered very undersized for a nfl LB, there is no way he plays OLB in our system, our OLB's are expected to win 1on1 matchups with tackles, arthur brown will never be that kind of guy, he is a east-west linebacker who weaves through traffic and racks up tackles with speed, smarts, and secure form tackling, hes not an edge setter or a pass rusher...

I am pulling for Brown also. He has gotten a wake-up call. He no longer thinks being a 2nd round pick means you get to skate. He has bulked up 15lb and seems to be immersing himself in the playbook a little more.

I agree, this team is pretty much set. The one "extra guy to put where want" will be a 6th corner back (Smith, Webb, Vaughn, Arrington, Melvin, Jackson and Walker).

I think they keep 9 OL and 4 TEs however. We would lose Boyle if we put him on the PS and we need him in case Pitta goes down.

The issues will arise at kick returner. If the Returner is a receiver, then we will keep 7 receivers and only 5 cornerbacks. If the returner is a cornerbacks then we keep 6 corners and 6 receivers (Smith, Perriman, Brown, Waller, Aiken and Butler). That means Campanaro or Carter make it as a returner or they get cut.

The 6 DL look like Davis, Jernigan, Williams, Urban, Canty, and KLM. That means we cut Guy and Tyson? That would be tough to do as both played well last year when we needed them. Maybe keep Tyson or Guy and let Canty go?

Barring injury, this team is ready to roll.

I believe Brown is just one of many good players we will hate to see leave. I hope he makes the cut. We have a lot of good talent and Mngmt will have some tough decisions to make. It's a good luxury to have but hard to let guys go,

lol neg my post if you want, but its true and you all know it. it always happens, we grow them and breed them so that they can have 1 big year and then go elsewhere.

If I was a late round defensive pick I'd love to come to the Ravens for that exact reason. We've gotten people paid proper.

We are the opposite of the LA Lakers who either trade for all their players or sign other big names to compliment Kobe. I think a Spurs comparison would be better suited where all their talent is homegrown, players are brought in to fit the system, management doesn't go splurging in the free market and are consistently good each season.

I'm saying you had Kobe, Shaq, Fisher, Horry etc... Their bench was pretty good as well. They were able to rest their starters and send in their subs much like what the Ravens do using certain players in specific packages (especially on defense). The Spurs operated with a really old players on their team to be honest much like the Steelers in my opinion. I get what your saying about the Spurs front office though.

lets hope that the added muscle to the frame and the 2 years experience make arthur more nfl ready. Fortunately DSmith has played lights out since coming to BMORE but DSmith is aging and if AB could come in and provide quality reps... it may extend DSmiths career and allow AB to develop into the superstar we hoped he would. CJ and AB together roaming the middle and dominating offenses would be a great sight!!

I've been pulling for him, I was extremely pleased when he was drafted although I liked ILB from LSU ( name escapes me Cardinals drafted him) a little more at the time but he hasn't shown much either yet.

Seems like Art Brown may end up in similar spot as Ellerbe ( minus all the special team experience), he may get some minutes this year then next year the final year of his rookie deal he may end up finally on the field get some good numbers tackles maybe a sack or 2. Then get picked up by another team.

Unless he looks great in preseason and we get offered a 3rd or 4th round draft pick for him.

Actually we will keep boyle till week 6 on the starting roster. After that he MIGHT goto the Practice squad. And they might move him up and down all season like the TE's did last season. I believe they won't Rush pitta back and keep him on the PUP list. But that is jsut me. Before we needed him cause we didn't have depth BUT after this draft class it isn't that demanding to have him return by week 1.

I would love to see Ozzie to pick up a veteran NT like Red Bryant who still in the market but we got so much depth though but we could sign him for veteran depth and hope Johnathan Joseph gets cut at corner. We need to get somebody extended for the seasons starts either K.O. or Yanda. Got to get it done. Arthur Brown can be a great LB with CJ Mosley but he got to get himself on the field. He got all the skills to become a great LB as so as Elam as well. It will be a plus if both of those players contribute this season.

You don't really think Boyle goes on the PS w/out getting snatched up by another team.......do you? If he goes on there, he'll be gone.

bud dupree is an edge rusher, arthur brown is a undersized ILB. thats like drafting a OLB and asking him to play NT.

just because the position has "linebacker" at the end of it, doesnt make it the same position, especially in a 3-4 where all 4 linebacker positions are totally different worlds

Just wait and watch this guy come into his own this year. He may end up backing up D. Smith and/or Mosley, but when he does play he'll do great. I assure you Arthur Brown will end up being a better player overall than the Steelers Ryan Shazier by a mile. Just imagine how the Steelers will feel when the Ravens seem to be getting the better players consistently regardless of picking after them each and every year!! The same goes for Zadarius and Dupree. 3-5 yrs from now, Zadarius will prove to be the better player.

Another Jah Reid. There's no upside for this guy. He's sitting close to the door. Don't slam it on the way out. Another high draft pick that's a bust!!!!!!!!

Arthur never had his opportunity here. Ozzie keeps drafting LB's. There are teams out there who would welcome him. He's worth money in my book.

Some make it onto the field and some don't. A Brown hasn't learned the defense fast enough and this isn't college, and we'll keep rolling with or without him! Special teams is were he can get on the filed if he accepts that role and ballout. Thus far he hasn't accepted it and performned accordingly. Even if someone gets hurt he may not be the next man up. I'm calling him a bust already (2nd rounder should have been playing last year, not sitting, regardless of the "couple of years to adjust" comments.) We don't have time to wait: Play Likea Raven or it's time to move on.

Brown and Elam might be riding the bus out of here. How can you get so close and not not even get on the field? Some serious issues here.

I didn't neg ur post but I will disagree with you on this one. Yes, it is frequent that our homegrown talent leave, but Brown's situation is a little different from recent FA departees. This is Brown's third year and his contract will expire in 2016 but so is Daryl's contract, so picking up Arthur's 5th year option and then re-signing him is a must even if his price tag is heftier after a breakout year. Mosley and Brown are the future of the LB corp even if it doesn't seem that way right now.

Guys loosen up a bit. He's just being a little sarcastic and ur all taking it literally. Brown was drafted in the second round so there's no 5th year option. If brown has a good year next year then he'll probably price himselfe out. It's not a shame because we'd get a high comp pick and a good year from the guy. As things stand we have nothing lol.

Its sounds like Brown finally has his head on straight and knows what he needs to do to see the field because I think he has a lot of potential and hopefully we get to see it. Drafting CJ pushed Brown down on the depth chart and I think he was counting on being the starting ILB next to Smith last year and subsequently did not prepare himself to play special teams. According to this article he has figured out that is his way onto the field and he has the physical tools to excel in that role as long as he embraces it.

There is always someone making excuses for these types of guys, guys who never produce. Besides Arthur Brown, there is Elam and Jah Reid. I don't know what any of them are still on the team. Everyone misses with draft picks, but to keep them is absurd. Oh, "Brown never got the chance because Ozzie drafts linebackers". Baloney. Ozzie drafts linebackers because guys he drafted like Brown don't improve enough to get the job done.

im beyond tired of sports fans over and improperly using the word "excuse."

Matt Elam is a strong safety that has played every position BUT, since the day he was drafted. That's not an excuse. That's a fact. Ed Reed couldnt play corner either.

and giving up on a draft pick because he doesnt become a hall of famer in his rookie year is just a dumb business decision. They're all dirt cheap, there's nothing to lose in letting em work and seeing if they can become a contributor before their contract is up.

Flockster that is absurd. REALLY ? Trade up for a player someone else wants? Who most likely won't make the starting signup? Please G Please!

Th fact of the matter is, is we didn't have Smith, Brown would be playing, he'd likely look great, and most of you would not be saying a single negative thing about him. But because the poor kid just can't seem to get on the field, and thus hasn't had a chance to shine, "oh he must suck." Thus continues the fickle and knee-jerk nature of sports fans.
