[News] Late For Work 6/10: Can Joe Flacco Really Play Into 40s?

38 posts in this topic

It's a different era for qbs. They don't take anywhere near the amount of punishment they used to and by the time Joe hits his 40s. Qbs will likely be wearing red jerseys in the games at that point. Especially if Tom Brady is still playing

2 years ago, when Flacco ate dirt 48 times, and got up every time, shows his toughness....

While I don't agree with Harrison's overall assessment of putting the Ravens as a "second-tier" team in the AFC, his points are valid. We know very little about what this passing game is going to look like. New OC, massive amounts of unknown, unproven players at WR and TE. This can't be overstated. These are things we can't possibly know what to expect until we actually play games.

Ranked 17th for QB/RB/WR triplet? It's about more than 1QB, 1 WR and 1 RB. This offense will find success with a variety of playmakers and cause headaches for opposing defenses. Don't care about "triplets". I care about the offense as a whole, being balanced and effective. The entire Ravens offense could be top 10 this year...or even top 5.

Love that Flacco is talking about playing for 10 more years. I'm not saying he can't. I still felt invincible at 30 too. Life has a way of catching up to you around 38 though.

The Ravens are a top tier team in the AFC and are overlooked by many. I mean... Second best team in the AFC. The Ravens vs. Pats game should have been the AFC National Championship game. Pats killed the Colts proving that the Ravens losing by one score to the Pats put them in second last season. Also the Pats took a step down losing 3 of their starting cornerbacks in Arrington (now here), Revis, and Browner. Also the Colts do not understand that they need a DECENT defense to go farther in the AFC and signed only veterans really on the offensive side of the ball which they didn't need because they were already one of the best, if not the best offense last season. The only team I may rank ahead of Baltimore as of today is Denver. The Ravens biggest offseason loss was Torrey Smith who was solid but not great to begin with. That is why I think the offense continues their last season success and now they have more of a variety of receivers to work with and depth is huge when the injury bug comes around.

Dameshek is a joke, don't take anything he says to heart. Do we have the best "triplet?" no but 17 is laughable, all 3 are proven. If you look at his list he has a few teams above us with one mediocre piece with two good players (i.e. the Lions with Joique Bell) and some with second year guys that are hardly proven (i.e. Saints with Brandin Cooks). We should at least be 10. His rankings don't take into account balance.

Forget the triple threat, lets go 4 wide with Perriman, Marlon, Waller, and Aiken, call that the tree package, and let teams come get some....:)

Keep in mind the guy (Dameshek) who ranked the trio at 17th is a steeler fan. No bias there lol.

He is also an unabashed Raven hater and goes out of his way to show derision for them. He is a homer.

We all know we are the Villains in the eyes of the haters, and we embrace it, and stick it to them with our swagger....:)

Dameshek is a troll and his Steeler bias is so obvious it's painful, pretty sure he's stated it several times. Guy routinely hates on Joe and the Ravens so I wasn't surprised by our ranking and the Steelers (#1). Harrison putting us in the second tier of AFC teams however is a joke. We may have an untested (outside of SSS) receiving corps with tons of upside, but last time I checked stacked WR groups don't win Super Bowls. This team is extremely well rounded with talented young depth and proven veteran commodities at every position on this roster. I truly believe if we stay healthy that we will have one of the better rosters we have had in a long time. We'll be in the thick of things come January.

Well... not necessarily. The steelers-fan is true, as he admitted to it many times (yeah, nobody's perfect :D) But, he picked the Ravens to win the super bowl before the season began, multiple years he last 5-6 seasons, for example...

I think it's not the Ravens he doesn't believe in, only Flacco. Also, his firm conviction seems to be is that Roethlisberger belongs in the top-3 in the NFL.

Otherwise he's pretty good usually  :)

GEEZIE PEEZIE,look at those throws by BIG JOE to STEVE SMITH and others,is he the most on target strong armed QB in the league or what?

Joe's strong throws are impressive on all of the videos. Joe has incredibly consistent tight spirals and some of them zing to his target receivers like bullets. Joe's deep ball bombs can be a thing of beauty. I consider his bombs among the best, if not THE BEST in the league.

I could def see Joe playing into his 40s as long as he doesn't take crazy amount of big hits. He gets hit far less than big ben and some other QBS mainly bc he plays for the ravens instead of against them. Lol. He is a big arm pocket passer that doesnt take a lot of hits. As long as our oline can keep him clean for a majority of his career then he should be able to keep playing for a long time. He could end up with the most wins ever by nfl qb if he stays healthy for an entire 20 year career.

Very well said!

I like us in the shawdows and out of the limelight. Then when we are forced into the limelight vs a front running team, it make s the victory that much sweeter.

WE always have been the undervalued underdog. It works for us. It's part of our persona.

It is crazy to ask people in their late 20s what they think they are going to feel like when they are 40. You'll know when you get there.

I would agree with him about roethlisberger.

From bashing and belittling pitta repeatedly to smarmy comments toward Suggs on national tv; I stand by my previous statement. He will go out of his way.

Dameshek is a Steelers fan in a media suit, we all know that. Anytime he can take a jab at the Ravens, he will. I guess Dameshek observation of Joe looking awful in the regular season is why the Ravens didn't make the playoffs and lost to the Steelers.....wait, it didn't go down that way at all did it Dameshek?! Dameshek = transparent trolling.....moving on!

GO RAVENS!

What a pick in the first round of the 2008 draft. It would shape this franchise for the next two decades.
