[News] Late For Work 6/9: Joe Flacco Puts On Touchdown Clinic

54 posts in this topic

I really hope Terrence Brooks gets healthy and gets a chance for some reps. Everyone thought he was a steal to go in the end of the 3rd round, and that's saying something in a draft that was all about the OT, QB, CB, OLB and WR positions.

I'm also hopeful that Elam grows into a solid player. No doubt he was pretty awful last year, and not great his rookie year. But it partly wasn't his fault - he never got a chance to really grow into a single role, since he got shoved into FS his first year and often into nickel corner this year. And nobody gave him credit for being on the field literally more than any other player his rookie year - every single defensive play, and about a third of the special teams plays.

dolphins sign tommy streeter...

what is wrong with the dolphins front office, i mean seriously, why are they SO pressed on getting straight line burners or deep threats when their qb cant throw more than 20 yards without the ball flailing like someone clipped its wings??

Joe put on a touchdown clinic at Tampa Bay last year. Let's hope he repeats that performance 19 more times this year!

John Urschel is my future husband, he just doesn't know it yet.

Just ask him, he'll calculate your chances, to 4 decimals ;)

I was at that game, we took over that stadium with our fans (just like Dolphin Stadium), the way Joe was killing it that place was empty by mid 2nd Quarter except those of us in purple who were there til the end, enjoying every second of it!!!!!

Joe can beat up any team! Play calling and utilizing the WRs to the best of their abilities is what has to be done! Joe can get FIVE rings like Kobe! Let's do this!

Taylor made some nice catches in practice, when he was a Raven also. I'm convinced Tyrod could've been an awesome WR. He has his heart set on being a QB. Can't do nothing about that.

Set up my DVR to record the Family Feud shows so I don't miss seeing Suggs, gonna be fun watching Steve Harvey ribbing the NFL players or maybe get on Sugg's case which would be priceless. lol Kudos to SSS surprising ticket holders, am sure that made their day. Very impressed with Suggs as RB in high school, wonder why we don't use him on goal line situations, he knows how to hang onto the ball, just ask his legs.

Really looking forward to the open practice at M&T. I especially want to see these exciting new young players with my own 2 eyes, along with the vets, and check out how well the offense and defense are clicking. Can't wait. I am more pumped than ever this year cuz we could very well be creating 1 of our best and most balanced teams ever.

Would love to see flacco take the next step this year... with all of the offensive weapons that he has (and OLINE). Schaub will be fine....needs some time to get the rust off! He knows what it takes, has the ability and has the experience. Schuab will be a quality back up (just needs more reps)!

In fairness to the secondary and pass defenders in general, they are asked to back off receivers during these non-contact drills

So basically there's nothing to get excited about since this is the offense getting their timing down and the defense can't go full speed??

Hill over Elam, Vick over Schaub. Elams problem has always been his tackling. Little hard to say he is doing so good when we haven't seen what he couldn't do. Schaub is a no-brainer. His arm was suspect when he came into the league, Kubiak and Arian Foster made him better than he was. He is a pick magnet, no doubt about it. At least with Vick we would be ok until he reinjured himself.

I don't know why Ryan is chosen over Flacco but I'm glad it can be put to rest now.

Statistically, he has been better than Joe.

Needless to say, I don't think anything has ever been officially put to rest on a subject matter that is 100% subjective anyway.

Look at the Flacco/Ryan last stat. That says it all. Flacco has been on his back more times than Ryan. A QB is only as good as his protection.

There's STILL a lot of fan resentment towards Vick.  I don't see Ozzie and Co. taking a chance at all on Vick.

Just so we are clear, they both throw picks at about the same rate.

Schaub averages INT per 37.1 attempts, Vick is at per 36.2 attempts. If one is a turnover machine, the other has to be as well.

Even Joe is right around 40 attempts, so I wouldn't consider either to truly be a turnover machine.

This kid Renner looked pretty good so far, he might be a sleeper backup for us....

I've said this before. If Joe is having a good day he can beat any quarterback including the future Hall Of Famers. As a matter of fact he has beat most of them.

Vick is not the type of QB to fit the Ravens current offense....if he were then we would have simply kept Tyrod! We are looking for a west coast style pocket passer. Schaub will fit that much better. Schaub has been out of football (inj) and relegated to getting little reps when he was back. WIth that being said... he has a lot of rust that he needs to work off, but he does have the tools and he does have the experience and he ran the same style of offense in the past (pretty effectively). He did have weapons (Andre Johnson, Jacoby, Owen Daniels, Arian Foster, etc.) but remember that we are asking him to be ready to step in IF needed. He has time to get the rust off and when he does... I think he will not only fit out system well but be a very capable back up- who could step in and run the offense if needed! We still have time-no need to push the panic button on the back up QB just yet~!

Well I guess I will be one of the first to say it but att Shaub as our back up qb is starting to scare me a lot not a little bit. There's not many options out there as far as back up qbs go but maaaaan....this guy can't see or read defenses anymore. I know it's early but I just hope Flacco doesn't get hurt. I'd rather have Michael Vick at 35, I think he's better even at that age.

Joes biggest problem has always been consistency. I think there are a few factors that come into play that has caused his lack of consistency throughout his career: 1. He seems to have a new OC every year (that slows the development of a QB). 2. Many years he has lacked top notch weapons (he has had some good ones in Mason, Boldin, Pitta, Heap, Torrey, etc) but has rarely ever had a full compliment of weapons. 3. OL play has been inconsistent throughout his career (sometimes it has been very good-like our superbowl season) and sometimes very bad (like 2013) and most of the time...somewhere in between. Joe is a different qb when he has time. 4. and lastly (and this one is on Joe) he has always struggled to handle pressure, to manage the pocket and to manipulate the pocket...he seems to get rattled at times and becomes very erratic when flustered. He has been in the league for some time now and this is the one area that I want to see him improve - if Joe controls this - he has weapons this year- he has a very solid OL... he has a strong running game and a OC (while new) that should scheme in a system that Joe is very familiar with. If Joe learns to manage the pocket and deal with pressure better... he will have a career season!

All of those things...  Yup.
