[News] 'No Doubt' Secondary Will Be Better

38 posts in this topic

The more I read about our secondary this year the more excited I get about the start of the season. Our pass rush was already nasty and our rotation was amazing. C.J. was holding it down with Smith in the middle (which it is still shocking he didn't walk away with DROY). Adding this secondary creates a dominant force that will hopefully wreck teams!!!!

This is good news but we will see what's really good when the preseason gets here. We have plenty of depth an competition so we should definitely be better. Our pash rush will also benefit from our new secondary.

You literally cannot be worse than last year...so yep, there's no doubt.

Ā

I've got no idea why anyone would disagree with you. I can't say it often enough, we led against the Pats 3 times, twice by 2 TDs. It was ugly. Lets hope those guys can stay healthy. That's the big challenge.

It is music to my ears to hear Pees say that there is more competition in various spots than he has ever seen before. Perhaps need to reserve judgment on individual players though untilĀ we see who is actually going to be effective, meaning contest the catch, tackle etc.. Looks like things will improve but, more than any other position, the level of play in the secondary coverage won't reveal who rises to the top til we get in to pads with some contact.

Take our 2 receivers that don't make the cut and covert them to backs, they are taller, bigger, faster, and can certainly catch a ball better, back shoulder interception, OMG.

I love the fact that we are two deep at every position. (our DL if healthy can play a full rotation and not miss much-keep fresh bodies in is a big deal). Our OLB... Suggs, Dummm, Courtney, ZSmith -that is a ton of depth and talent-ILB CJ and DSmith are probowl caliber... ABrown waiting his turn! (our CBs Jimmy and Webb are high level... added KArrington, CVaughn and TWalker. We have Asa back healthy and Melvin another year comfortable. Our Safties.... With WIll Hill, KLewis, Elam, Brooks and Perry.... we cannot ask for a more talented and deep defense

Also more pressure on the QB reduces a QB's time to pick us apart. We need get back to generating a ton of pressure and collapsing the pocket (quickly). If we can generate more pressure... our DB's will benefit from a QB under duress... that is when the picks come and the passing yards drop!

It certainly appears the "D" will be tough this year... let's hope we see the results against Denver on September 13th. I would really like to see a "W" for a lot of reasons in this one... including the previous O.C. who said he was staying in B-more one day and left the next.

@b93333 if we can start off beating Denver I believe we could start the season 3-0 against the Radiers at Oakland and then the Bengals at home.

The Ravens got full grown defense all around. It's a Super Bowl defense. When you got players that you got so much depth all around and could contribute nicely in case someone gets hurt you got an all around defense. Ozzie did a nice job with this team. He makes sure we got plenty of depth we don't have to worry about it this year.

That Denver game is the bench mark game.Ā They areĀ considered an "elite" team because of you know who.Ā  Ā  If we could pummel them and proove our status along with a Kubiak loss then everything would be rightous.Ā  We can't assume the Raiders are a win but by taking them out the juices flow and we can take on the Bengals.Ā  I really don't think we will lose two again this season. I'm hoping just like you Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

I like yourĀ enthusiasm.Ā  I hope no injuries butĀ if so,Ā at leastĀ Ā veteran backups are there.Ā Ā Ā

They don't do that. If they don't make the cut then PS or out.Ā  If onĀ PS other teams could hawk them.Ā Ā Make the 63 out of 90. A few may end up on IRĀ Ā

Ā

Especially when the secondary wasn't sure which receivers were eligible.

We play Peyton and his plethora of weapons on the road in week 1 so it won't take us long to see if our secondary is now ready to defend against an elite QB.

Lets make this clear, our Secondary was bad becuase of injuries not talent or coaching. Our seconday along with our agressive front 7 will be the talk of the NFL. Watch.

Really wanna hear the same thing about the secondary once the pads are on and or throughout preseason. During the OTA's the WR's get no press or have to worry about getting pummeled after the catch. Stay healthy and I don't see a team we couldn't beat, just gotta limit rookie/new system mistakes

Denver, NE, Seattle, Cincy 2x, Steelers 2x and AZ! This team still looks like a better football team then all those noted. Let's get the pads on HUN!

Yeah, I get pumped when our defense shuts offenses down. I really hate it if a team finds a way for run on us.

It's kind of hard not to improve when you had to play guys off the street a season ago. What happened last year has to be one of the more fluke/ rare things to happen to a team. Every year a team gets the injury bug, but never have I seen it happen so often to one position group.

First things first....Webb, Smith, Lewis and Hill need to show they can all stay healthy. With those as the solid 4...we have some real good options for rotation with Melvin, Jackson, Levin and nickle and dime formations with Arington, Elam, Tarwick. WE can hold on to 2 rookies for the PS. thats 12 DB's in total. Looks pretty strong so far. Go Ravens!

If our secondary can give opposing QBs a few seconds of pause by covering well, the Ravens pass rush will literally feast on a nice QB meal! However, if the QB doesn't want end up being eaten, he'll throw up a prayer for the secondary to feast on. How can this team lose?
