Joe Flacco playing after 40?

28 posts in this topic

He hopes he can play until 40, little distinction there - knock on wood. I hope so, as well. Haven't heard any real conversation about a QB contest in 7 years.

LOVE the Chiefs fan saying Flacco can't play.

Stats against Kansas City:

3 games, 3 wins (including one in the postseason against a higher seed)

64/104, 61.5% passing completions

759 yards, 7.3 yards/attempt

5 TDs, 2 INTs

91.8 QB rating

Shows why PFT sucks.

lol Chiefs fan talking trash. How have the playoffs been for them lately? Flacco wouldn't have allowed that debacle against the Colts happen.

I'm sure Ozzie would appreciate. He wouldn't have to find a new franchise QB any time soon. Took us a while till we found Joe and I am really not looking forward to the time once he retires and the search starts over again. Hopefully we learned from that experience.

Probably still salty about that 2010 playoff beatdown he put on them at Arrowhead.

How awesome would it be to not only have an "Ironman" of MLB but the NFL as well....

I was actually thinking about using that as my next article topic for my blog - the possibility of Flacco breaking Favre's record and then having both the MLB and NFL Iron Man records.

Where is flacco at on that record?

An interesting thing I discovered tonight: Joe has post-season wins against 9 *different* teams.  I thought that sounded like a lot, so I did some digging.  That's tied for 5th most with Terry Bradshaw.  The 4 guys in front of him are John Elway, Joe Montana, and Tom Brady.  Only 3 other guys even had as many as 8.  Here's the list:

Tom Brady: 14
Joe Montana: 12
John Elway: 10
Terry Bradshaw: 9
Joe Flacco: 9
Brett Favre: 8
Steve Young: 8
Ben Roethlisberger: 8

Still a WAYS off.

He's 3rd among active QBs behind Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.

Favre's record is 297 I believe.

Flacco is sitting at 112. It's pretty much unattainable. Joe would have to play another 11 seasons and 10 games (regular season) to break the record. So he'd have to play until he's 41 without missing a game to take the record.

All you have to say is 1970 last time the Chiefs won anything Scoreboard.

True, but if flacco makes it, it will be gis ability to make postseason games that puts him over the top. He's a durable guy and always makes the post season- favre fielded that many games for similar reasons

Flacco has proven to be surprisingly durable, even when the o-line wasn't protecting him that well so he has a good chance of playing into a late age, like the way Brees has. It'll also help if the Ravens keep a great offensive line, like what we had last season.

So, he will be in second place on that list at least witbin the next two years.

I don;t see why not. He has far less miles on his bod than Big Ben did at this point of his career. Of course freak accidents happen, but he's defied the odds for 7 seasons so it's more than mere luck. He must be doing something right.

Here's to another 10 more years (or more) of the Flacco era!
