[News] Late For Work 6/4: Three Ravens Make All-Underrated Team

Yes, I believe most of us understand that the LFW article is made of up articles that were found from other sites, but considering the one quote in that part of the article is from Arron Wilson I tend to believe that right now its a close battle.  Arron is hired by The Sun to be objective while guys like Ryan Mink are hired to hype up the team.  Sure Mink has to be truthful but I am going to believe an outside source like The Sun than a guy that gets paid by the Ravens.

I take the sports writers at The Sun" very lightly, especially Preston.  I am always amazed at their lack of support for the "home team" sometimes.  And "Russell Street Report?????  That are awful with that stuff.

Sami makes a great point. Elam struggled a lot with his tackling technique. If he hasn't fixed that Hill will be the starter and the Ravens will probably have to draft another safety next season.

Hill will likely be the starter, no question.

If people who actually watch practices and have greater knowledge about the situation than any of us do indicate that its an open competition and that its close, I have no reason to doubt them. I don't think the coaching staff cares nearly as much as fans do about what happens in prior years.

I find it refreshing mostly. Hard to find a ton of local beatwriters throughout this country that even have one bad thing to say about their local team, and national reporters (who I find much more credible) can't stand that kind of stuff. Too much "pom pom" waving typically from local writers. its actually pretty much the same as thing from most local writers as it is for a website like BR.com to post countless articles saying how all 90 players at training camp look great, which we all know is literally impossible.

I expect that from the franchises own website, because they're in the business of "pom pom waving". But its actually quite refreshing to see at least partially unbiased reporting on hometown teams from local writers. There are plenty of local newspapers and writers nationally who literally people don't even read or listen to anymore because all they do is toe the company line.

I agree!  I like to see people tell it like it is instead of all of the fluff!

With the dead money the Ravens will have freed up after this season, shouldn't there be enough to sign both Yanda and Osemele. They definitely need to keep those two together for as long as they can. Granted to do that means sayonara to Courtney Upshaw, but maybe ZaDarius Smith will develop the way Ozzie invisioned. Fingers crossed

The west coast style of offense is nothing more than at least one of the coaches had some contact with the 49rs. The Ravens generally throw the ball down the field and are best when they run the ball most of the time. The West Coast offense was originally the exact opposite. Short passes that set up the run. GB runs the west coast as well as NE. But I don't see he west coast in Baltimore. Our backs don't get enough passes thrown their way and our receivers certainly don't get enough yards after the catch. Please call it something else. That's all I ask.

Daryl Smith getting some recognition! Even if its recognition of not being recognized! lol.

It has been very nice having him in the middle of our defense that past couple years now, making it a somewhat seamless transition from the Ray era.

That's what I would think too! Rice and Ngata free up a ton next year, but then I don't know what cap numbers go up. An extension with Flacco though after this season when his cap hit goes up, and I think we will be good to go signing our free agents. I'm stoked about the near future.

Yeah especially when it comes time to picking the games! I couldn't pick against the Ravens, because I feel like they can play with anybody. Sometimes though more than half of the local writers pick the opposing team.

Yeah, I don't think anyone really likes Mike Preston.  But I feel like that has become his personality.  He is there to get the fans fired up.  I just hate that he does the pregame show on 105.7.   His voice is the last one I want to hear while I'm trying to get into game mode.

Russell Street Report is kind of hit or miss.  I usually like some of the stuff Tony writes, and he is known to reply to some of the comments. And his son Tyler will post links to other articles, similar to LFW.

Absolutely.  We are in the mix every year with the potential to go all the way.  And yet, when you read some of their stuff, you'd think we were at the bottom of the barrel. That we are just an awful team, with no chance at all.

Lewis is locked in as a Raven for now, Elam wont be resigned and Hill might get signed by another team in the next yr or so. I personaly think Brooks will be a great SS in this league and the Ravens can't wait till he gets healthy. He wont start the season but next yr he will.
