[News] Late For Work 6/3: Clues This May Be Steve Smith's Final Season

52 posts in this topic

@Steve Smith ... My advice, play out the contract and leave nothing on the table, leave it all on the field. We are built to win this year and next no doubt about it and everybody knows it, including you. #2more2go #bloodnguts

So true that Flacco has always been asked to do more with LESS than other QBs. Exactly the reason I can't wait to see what more Joe can do with MORE.

If the Browns signed that kid for QB, he might actually be genuine upgrade.

I personally think Flacco's contract being questioned was officially over when Matt Ryan got his! At least that is a QB that you CAN compare to Flacco only because they were drafted in the same class, but Flacco has outperformed him big time. As for Cutler, Tannehill and Newton, none of them are in Flacco's league.

By now we all can recite the Flacco narrative in our sleep.

"Oh, his early career success was because he had a stacked defense" – never mind that that defense couldn't carry the like of Boller/McNair/Redman deep into the playoffs.

"Oh he's just lucky Jump Ball Joe" – never mind that he keeps seeming to be 'lucky' year in and year out. Defenses really must be stupid. Not to mention that all successful QBs seem to develop these monikers from their haters. For Manning it's those pesky 'rub' routes where receivers blatantly set picks. For Brady it's things like eligible/ineligible receiver deceptions. Just find a way to stop it and be a man.

"Oh he only won a Super Bowl because of his defense." – never mind that the defense ranked middle-of-the-pack in 2012, gave up 30+ points to Denver and SF, and Flacco was named the MVP, not some defender.

At this stage Flacco critics have officially become just trolls.

Flacco is bound to end up in the top 3 of those 'NFL Network Top 10' shows for most under-rated players of all time.

Schaub's arm is done (remember all the pick 6s with the Texans that he threw). When a QB loses his starting jig to an undrafted rookie, gets traded, then loses his job to a rookie draft pick, you know there is not much left in the tank. Solid back-up but if something happens to Flacco, kiss our play-off chances goodbye.

I want to think Schaub's knowledge of Kubiak's now Trestman's offense was another reason why he was brought in.

I hope Supernaw does well with the titans. He always seemed to have a smile on his face on the sidelines. I know he enjoyed being a Raven. I wish him luck.

I have no doubt in my mind that SSS fully intends to play out his contract before retiring. Considering there's only two years on the contract there's no real reason to hang it up with only a year left.

"One very, very, very bad pass?" Really? Didn't have anything to do with the defense losing two 14 point leads? Had nothing to do with a practice squad secondary? Had nothing to do with not knowing who to cover during a NE trick play and not being smart enough to call a time out? This is why it is hard for Flacco to get respect with other players and teams in the league when Ravens fans are throwing him under the bus every time the team doesn't win every game. Granted Flacco is inconsistent and can be frustrating, but saying that loss was due to one play, one pass from scrimmage, when he blew up the NE defense is just wrong.

Please cut Schaub after ota's and quit making excuses for him please.........the guy.....is DONE!! and was Done last year...........I don't mind bringing him in for ota's but to keep him would be an Unbelievable mistake,he is unqualified to continue in the nfl as a qb......

I hope SSS puts up 1k yards this year and wins a SB ring. He is such a great role model for players and fans alike and seems to be VERY active in the community. I hope the best for him and is quickly turning into one of my favorite active Ravens player. Joe's contract was right on par with what he deserves, we finally have a franchise QB. With 7 Mil under the cap I wonder what Ozzie is going to do?!

Whether this is the last season for SSS or whether he plays for a few more years, I really appreciate the fact that SSS is showing by example the best possible attitude for these young players to emulate. After 15 years, SSS is going to OTAs and busting his buns every day making plays while transferring his extensive knowledge to young teammates. I love it that SSS is showing these young (and even the older) guys that he savors and appreciates every moment he has left in the NFL. What better gift or legacy could SSS be giving this team with his passion and dedication?

I don't think you can have it both ways can you? Either he is Done with nothing left or Solid Back-up? Has to be 1 or neither one right?

Watching the OTA videos. it seems that Flacco likes throwing to Waller alot. That is a good thing.

OTA video showed Butler catching three passes, more than any other receiver in the video. And they looked like nice catches. Remember last year and he was supposed to be catching better than Aiken and Campanero. I remember trying to guess with everyone else who would be redshirted and it was him. He could be flying under the radar right now. I just know there are going to be really tough decisions to make by the coaching staff this year....
