[News] Slimmed Lorenzo Taliaferro Wants To Shed Label

38 posts in this topic

Tally is looking good, he looks like he wants that backup job. And if you ask me I believe he will be the #2 if only for this year. He showed flashes last year and looking at him right now it looks like he wants to take that next step. Actually it sorta looks like everyone wants that, just the other day we got an article about Jernigan shedding some lbs and putting in the work. It would seem this team is destined for great things this year.

i dont want him to want the #2 spot, i want buck and him both to want the #1 spot, even if they dont take it, that shows putting in 110% effort for the team

As long as he stops his TD Dances he's going to be cool. That was the only [profanity deleted] I saw in his armor. He's a terrible dancer, awful lol

He's a big dude and he doesn't appear super quick. You eye tells you he's a short yardage back, so that's how he's going to be labeled.

No doubt, he has to feel the pressure, given the organization drafted another 4th round RB.

Don't worry about how people label you. If you produce the label will change. They labeled Forsett nothing but a scat back last year and his production made them change their minds. Frankly, I was unimpressed with Taliaferro's short yardage runs last year and from what I saw, he had issues getting those tough couple yards. If you build it they will come, if you produce, they will change the label. I don't know what all that means but it sounded good.

Tali's rap came from not having "swivel hips"! He has the power and he can make a cut. but he has yet to demonstrate that agility that makes guys like A.P. and Beast-mode such stars!

Once he begins doing that,... and becoming a target in the passing game -- hey, sky's the limit!  :oldwiseman:

I also haven't been overly impressed by Taliaferro....as of yet. He will get his shots, if he stays healthy. I hope he does well. W/BP having "moved on", here's his shot. I agree that his agility needs to improve. He doesn't seem to do much to evade tacklers, generally. But instead, seems to just try to run them over. That running style alone can get you labeled as a short yardage back. Do some evading and persuading, LT!

I know it was just pre-season, but he led the league in pre-season rushing last year and had some long runs. I can't say I know if the pre-season rushing yardage was due to his ability or the quality of the Ravens back-up OL and/or lack of quality in the opposing DL. He found the gaps and moved the chains and that says something about his potential. You never know what the coaches see on the field, so I will let them decide if he becomes the number 2 or 3.

He was good preseason and games before that fumble. I hope we will get a chance to show his talent.

Buck Allen is going to be amazing watch and see! I think this is going to be the best ravens team in ravens history

I really liked how hard he hit the hole last season. He seems to have good vision, good quickness and runs hard. His biggest knock is not having the speed to be a lead back- who knows maybe a few pounds here or there could put him over the top. I hope so! Cant have enough solid RB's!

Not to sound cynical, but you don't suddenly gain vision by losing weight. Not to mention he was already incredibly soft for a RB as massive as he is, I think he should have worked on pad level and anticipation instead because speed and burst certainly weren't the problem.

To be honest I was one of those who labeled him as a short yardage back, and I will continue to until I see otherwise, he looked good in preseason and showed flashes in the regular season but he had runs that shulda been a TD but wasn't, hopefully he proves me wrong, I want him to succeed and I can't wait to see him play again. Keep up the good work and prove me wrong.

I Like Taliaferro and I hope he just does his job when his number is called! Being selected by the Baltimore Ravens shed any negativity! What negativity?!

If all 3 RB's stay healthy, it will be hard for Forsett to hit that 1400-1500 yards mark. I see a lot of rotation, keeping the legs fresh and wearing down the opposing D and hitting Perriman deep.

I'm an LT fan. Don't care what they naysayers gobble about ball security. Anytime a guy reliably requires 2 or more defenders to bring down he's a keeper. The onus is on the coaches to find a way to use him.

We play AFC North football. This is a man's game.

Always Rooting for every Raven. However, although Tali. put in the work already and will take a big step the drafting of Buck will be a HUGE incentive now!

And this is as good a time as any to mention this, considering we were talking about the bohemoth frame of Gillmore and Boyle and those 3 TE sets we used in the playoffs last year.

History will thank the Ravens for restoring the importance of running the football to the game. While all these dink n' dunk divas get the limelight, a handul of franchises are quietly restoring the position of RB to it's rightful glory.

Im wondering if we need to add another experienced WR. SSS is 36 and if he goes down with an injury for any period of time... or if Perriman would get an injury... our passing game could take a serious step backwards. I know we have promising young WRs in Marlon and Kamar and Camp, Carter, etc... but they are unproven (as far as taking over as a # 1 or #2 Wr). This is the only position that an injury to a starter really scares me at????
