[News] Late For Work 6/1: Offseason Power Rankings: Ravens Finally Get Some Respect

103 posts in this topic

While I would typically agree with you...  and would definitely admit to being a homer, which isn't a bad thing...  Who do you think is better at this point?  Looking at where we finished last season; and knowing what we have on our roster this season;  I think we are better.

Broncos,Colts,Seahawks,Packers and maybe the Cardinals are all better than us.Also, even though I feel like we would beat the Patriots whether at home or on the road now that Revis and Browner are gone,I think they'll end the season with a better record than us.

This is a 12-4 team. I think the roster has improved at virtually every position from last year. I have a great feeling about this season. Stay healthy!

There's two areas IMO that it's too early to say we improved.  WR and DL, we're very young in those areas.  Wth key vets leaving, I wouldn't say we're improved until a few games into the season.

Is it just me, or is Flacco looking leaner and meaner than usual in the article photo?

All young fathers look that way after they've lost a season of sleep.  LOL

11-5 would be a great season, but realistically i'm looking at 10-6....I see most of the damage coming in the first half of the season, with our brutal start....

Waller 6'6" 240 Perriman 6'2" 212 Williams 6'4" 250 Gilmore 6'6" 251 Aiken 6'2" 215 Brown 6'5" 215 Man, they got Joe some big targets!!! Let's do this!!!! oh and don't forget Smith Sr 5'9" 195 who plays just as big if not bigger.

IMHO SSS is the "biggest" player on the team.  Just ask his sparring partner Suggs.

Why would Roethlisberger be commenting on a Ravens practice? Correct me if I am wrong, but the true source is baltimorebeatdown.com.

I think bio was just being witty by referring to the huge hit Upshaw laid on Roethlisberger last year in our first Steeler game.

I'm not a fan of replacing Zuttah anytime soon, he has been extremely solid, and has a done a great job of QBing the O-Line....Makes more sense of grooming Urschel for OG with KO's future up in the air...

I totally agree.  We've got an excellent OL returning intact from last year.  The center is the 'center' of that line in more ways than one.  Remember how poorly our OL did after Matt Birk was replaced by Gradkowski.  It's not that Gino was that bad but replacing a center is a big transition, much more mental than physical.  So I'd be very careful replacing a successful center who is meshing well with the rest of the line.

On your comment about the Pats you might be right but remember they'll be playing the first four games WITHOUT Brady.  That's gotta hurt having to use a second string QB whose playing time has been extremely limited.  I'm guessing they will be lucky to be 2 and 2 after the first four games.

I think we are the number one team in the afc based on our roster. Indy has a good offense but weak offensive line an a qb that is a turnover machine with a suspect defense. New England lost there top two corners which is huge an barely beat us with our banged up secondary. Peyton manning is to old an that team for sum reason with all of that talent jus doesn't play as well as they should. Pittsburgh has no defense an cincy has Andy dalton. We will dominate this year an I believe sum of our mid to late round picks will surprise us during the season with there play.

I'm being cautious going into this season, remember we went 8-8 after the SB, we are a much younger team this year, than years past.....Yes we are probably more talented at some positions, but nothing can replace veteran play and leadership when it comes down to crunch time....We will be tested straight out of the gates with our schedule, and the first half will really let us know what kind of team we have...I think we are a playoff team, but not sure we are a SB caliber team...But i'm optimistic...

Just curious as to how we had 3 rookies out of 41 invitees attend the rookie symposium? Anyone know the selection criteria?

It's because of last years hit that Upshaw had on the Roethlisberger.

If I were to put money on his appeal, I would bet his suspension becomes 2 games at the very most, especially after Kraft announced they won't appeal the fine and loss of picks.  It just seems like some backroom deal was made right then between Kraft and Goodel(who is hearing the Brady appeal)

I don't think any of those teams are better than us, especially the Colts. They have a weak O-line, no run game, and their qb gives the ball away too much. Their defense is mediocre at best. After we outplayed the Patriots and barely lost, with 19 players on IR, the Colts got completely destroyed. Rankings at this point are obviously based on a lot of guessing, and you never know who is going to get injured and how the rookies will adjust to the NFL, but at this point, considering our roster and depth, as long as our early draft picks do what they are expected to do, we will have one of the best run games in the league, one of the most dangerous and explosive passing games in the league, and a great defense. Considering that we almost knocked off the SB champs last year with a mediocre receiving corps, a decimated secondary, and both our starting tackles out, I think there is a good case to be made for us to be ranked #1, not that it means anything.

Doesn't look like NE had any rookies at the symposium... Guess they don't want any of those pesky ethics interfering with their training.

Why is Dean Pees wearing that old hat? He should wear a new one or a lucky hat. The Super Bowl was two years ago. Unless I'm wrong and he is wearing a champion hat for last year digging into the pats for cheating, but I don't think it is that.

If Waller can make the rotation this is a very dangerous offense. 6'6 and .02 seconds slower than Tory was coming out of the combine. The ravens have insane speed at WR now and two big targets to catch those 70 yards in the air passes for instant scores. Can't wait for Mxx to show what he can do too. No wonder King put them at #1. This team doesn't have any weaknesses. Even the secondary is deeper in talent than last year. If anyone remembers a raven itself predicted this. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/The-Caw-Raven-Videobombs-Site-Of-Super-Bowl-50/91cf55b6-53d1-4640-b754-3d86cb1ad053

In a perfect world for next year, I'd prefer to see us find a way to hold onto KO and Yanda with Urschel replacing Zuttah at center, however I think it's going to be very tough to hold onto both of them. I think we are going to end up seeing Urschel take over for one of Yanda and KO, and I have a feeling we may be seeing Yanda in another uniform next year. One of my favourite players hands down, and I know the front office is and will continue to do everything they can to keep him. However, as we know, Ozzie sets his price and if Yanda won't agree, he will move on to the next man up (KO). The FO has made hints lately that they are comfortable moving on if an extension can't be reached.

Anyways that's next year, this year if we stay healthy and our rookies can be moderately productive I think we're looking at one of the better rosters we've had in a long time. Cannot wait for the pads to come on!

I thought the same thing. Plus, I think he looks better with a bit of hair, as opposed to the buzz cut.
