[News] Late For Work 6/1: Offseason Power Rankings: Ravens Finally Get Some Respect

103 posts in this topic

Would love to see Urschel take over the center position if Zuttah is released after this season.  That extra cash releasing Zuttah could also help keep Yanda and Osemele around.

Glad we are finally getting some respect from the likes of Peter King but I am actually more comfortable with the Ravens being the underdog with a huge chip on their shoulders. Feels downright weird to have anyone in the media notice, care or give any well deserved props to the Ravens. King seems to be paying attention. Baltimore is quietly but surely building one of the most exciting and dominant teams in the league.

I Like that idea as well.  Could be a lifesaver when it comes time to restructure our offense/offensive line.  I'm pretty excited about this season.  (Not that I'm not every year, but really much more fo some reason this year).

I think us being number one in the MMQB rankings is a joke based on what Harbaugh said.I can be a homer at times and even I wouldn't put us that high.I'd say we were a 9-7 - 11-5 team depending on health and the rookie seasons of Perriman and Williams.

While I would typically agree with you...  and would definitely admit to being a homer, which isn't a bad thing...  Who do you think is better at this point?  Looking at where we finished last season; and knowing what we have on our roster this season;  I think we are better.

The Mom Gene,

You are probably more excited about this year because it seems we are going into the season without a glaring hole anywhere. Certainly some areas are stronger than others but not like in the past.

I'm excited as well.  I think mine is due to the new pieces we added on offense and the healthy and revamped secondary. Our mash-unit secondary was the sole reason for at least 3 to 4 losses last year. Ozzie and company made fixing the secondary priority, just like he did w/ the O-line last off-season.  Anyone not excited about the 2015 Ravens potential doesn't have a pulse.

Considering where we finished and what we did in the off-season, I say we're in the top 4 in the AFC with, DEN, IND, NE. IMO you can justifably list either of the four #1 in the AFC.

OAN: To me Peter King is more wrong than right when he does his rankings so even though it's early, I never take his ranking serioulsy, EVER!

Went back and watched some games from later in the season last year. Let's just say it's no shocker that we're bulked up at the TE position. Also, Forsett's mastery and patience with his zone reads is beautiful.

Agreed. Now just to sit back, wait for football, and pray for no major injuries

As usual, I am REALLY looking forward to football season, but for some reason, more excited than usual....(of course the O's playing so bad has nothing to do with this, lol!). Seeing all the young talent this year is very encouraging, and although we have another new OC, I think things will go very well.

On another note, I hopped over to the NFL website to read "their" story on Coach Harbaugh letting a reporter have it after asking that question about Joe.....it seems that Joe is getting a lot more respect out there than I figured on; a vast majority of people commenting that are not Raven's fans think Joe IS one of the best and reliable QBs in the league, and most profess to be frightened of him at playoff time......It was enjoyable to read for a change!!

Is it just me, or is Flacco looking leaner and meaner than usual in the article photo?

I think he's got it right. While I love to watch Raven's D, I have always believed O is the best D. This year I believe the Raven's have the O to prove my belief. I see a dominate short yardage O with a combination of Running and Short Passing to take the team down the field to keep us competitive, control field position, the clock, and set up several deep passes that give us a 14 point or more lead. Our D will be great as it always is. It's just the O is going to dominate the game.

Nice to finally get some recognition but I feel myself really missing the underdog role...seems we thrive in it. We'll see if Vaughn will make the final 53, looks like he's competing with Asa for a spot, it's a toss up between the two in my opinion, it'll be a tough battle to watch for the rest of the offseason.

It's been a while since we have had so many positions up for grabs that offer real PT for players....IMO i really feel the competition this year will be stick out more than in years past....

Wasn't there an article earlier this offseason about him doing American Ninja Warrior training or something like that?

All the respect is nice, but it's still a long, agonizing 2 months until preseason games. Please hurry up and get here faster.

I am surprised everyone is bashing Peter King here except for the fact that people just like to bash everyone. If he said we were much lower there would be a group who would complain about that. Based on people returning from injuries in conjunction with those we lost and who we got in the draft, if everybody plays up to expectations, King is not that far off. Listen, we are months away from the first game, there has only been one OTA that media could watch, so with all the variables considered, we have as good a shot being up there as anyone else. I put as much faith in power rankings 3 months early as I do mock drafts that are 3 months early. So much depends on injuries, players adjusting to their new schemes, etc... so no one really is going to bet the farm on what King says, but with the work our FO has put into the off season, we deserve to be rated at number 1 or close to it.

I was reading through those comments on nfl.com too! and they had an article up on cbssports about Flacco. I noticed the majority seem to have just accepted at this point that Joe is a good QB. It's fun reading through compliments about him when I go there assuming people are going to be bashing our team, then I end up seeing them write they wish he was their quarterback.

Why would Roethlisberger be commenting on a Ravens practice? Correct me if I am wrong, but the true source is baltimorebeatdown.com.

I'm not a fan of replacing Zuttah anytime soon, he has been extremely solid, and has a done a great job of QBing the O-Line....Makes more sense of grooming Urschel for OG with KO's future up in the air...

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a joke.

The only reason I asked that question is that:  NE has lost pretty much it's whole secondary...  Denver is going to have a tough time without their DE...  and the defense wasn't that strong last year either. Peyton is another year older...  and Indy, I don't think is quite there yet, maybe this year, but not so sure.....  So, yeah, I'm a homer.
