[News] Late For Work 5/29: Joe Flacco No Stranger To Never-Ending Revolving Cast

26 posts in this topic

Joe has surely been at a disadvantage every year with the rotating receivers, OCs etc.. Every year Joe is chill and finds a way to succeed despite the disadvantages. So, what QB in the league is better prepared than Joe to take on such a large new group of young receivers with yet another new OC? Nobody is more up to this task than Joe

Looks like Harbs has had it with the "Joe questions"... and I don't blame him. ESPN and some of the others like NBCSports and CBSSports constantly try to gig him on stuff like that... Like he's some poor guy with no advantage and that he is dealt a bad hand year after year.

I love Joe. I'm glad he's here too. Glad he's our QB. and I too, wouldn't want to swap him with any other QB that's out there right now.

I like that Sizz is taking the high road ! After all, the place to show how you really feel about the Patriots, is on the field with them...! Too bad we may not be facing them this year in the AFC Championship game, as they may not make it that far. I would love to see Suggs getting some of Brady on the field. After we got tricked out of the win in the Division round game last year, I would say it will be payback time....!

Harbaugh and Ozzie finally got tired of all the Joe Flacco being elite questions so they went out there and drafted some talented guys up high in the draft. He has had very little to work with so far so if these guys can gain seperation its donezo for the rest of the AFC. Ravens were the 2nd best team in the AFC last season and they barely lost to the team that won the Super Bowl because of some "questionable" calls by the referees. Can't wait for the next coming season!

Joe is and has always been up to the task. Why these so-called analysts can't see that is beyond me. Just keep on keeping on Joe because we have your back.

"Jimmy Smith also had "medical red jersey" hanging from his waste"

Wow :D

The visual image of a red jersey hanging from Jimmy Smith's waste is not a pretty sight. Yipes

I think the revolving WR/TE cast is pretty standard for all teams these days in the NFL with free agency and injuries (might be a few exceptions). Flacco is one of the best at adapting to it year after year.

LOL Mom but this was a gross typo......I can handle the image of a red flag hanging off of Jimmy's WAIST....it's the image of a red flag hanging off of his WASTE (material) that's getting to me.

Wow :D

Is it becoming an epidemic of some sort that even journalists can't spell?!!! I get it when athletes misuse 'your' and 'you're', 'they' and 'their', and when they tweet 'could of' instead of 'could have', they must have been practicing their sport while others were in class-- how do I spin an excuse for a journalist?!

It really angers me how the so called analyst and football "experts" dump on Joe Flacco. Even with all the different coordinators and different wideouts and TE's. Joe has been a post season nightmare for opposing teams. Ask the Patriots who they don't want to see in the playoffs. With that being said why is Matt Ryan always put above Joe. He may have better stats, but considering Ryan has one of the best reciever duo in the league and consistancy with his coaching staff; how many times have the falcons missed the playoffs since Ryan and Flacco came into the league together. Ryan can keep his stats; I'll take January Joe anytime.

I think the fact that we have dealt with offensive changes in the past, we are better suited to overcome the changes, as opposed to a team that has been in the exact same system for several years. Joe, in particular, has shown in the past that it is not an issue for him; so I don't think it will be an issue.

There is no simplistic cut and dry narrative when it comes to Joe. Not all of what he went through was just him alone. You have to know the franchises history with QBs. You have to put in to proper context the overall scheme for our team ending 2007 and coming into 2008 and beyond. Joe wasn't drafted to be a fantasy stat machine. We knew we could rely on a top 10 defense anchored by 2 hall of famers and 2 perrenial probowlers in Ngata and Suggs to prevent scores from getting out of hand. At that time no one questioned that the AFC North was a ground-and-pound division. We relied, by design, on running the ball and playing defense with a very conservative run-to-pass deep philosophy under Cameron. The problem is that Cameron was too averse to expanding on that mentality with 4th year Joe. The team invested money in Jim Zorn and then Jim Caldwell to specifically tutor our Division 1AA QB into our mold of QB.

Alot of painstaking hours by Joe and his position coaches and coordinators went into Making Joe a QB now that is pliable and comfertable in the spread and the power and the zone stretch schemes equally. Not all QBs can boast of such wide experience. This fact will become more evident as Denver tries to come up with creative ways to fit Peyton into Kubiak's zone schemes and vice versa. Joe is an extremely coachable QB.

I dont really know how to feel abot Hill and Elam splitting time. I am all for giving Elam a shot but he is going to have to earn it. Hill should be the clear cut starter on tackling ability alone. I know Harbs will start the most deserving guys come reagular season I just dont want to see Hill getting cheated out of his snaps in the off season. We need him at tip-top playing shape both physically and mentally come the regular season and Elam should be on special teams till he shores up his tackling ability. Just my honest opinion.

Agreed but also got to look at it as "competition makes them both better".

May the best man win

I'd like to see Elam up on the line like last season.  He made a few really good stops last year.  I think the guy has potential, if he would only show more of it.

Perriman and Maxx give Flacco some nice young weapons with a tremendous amount of ability. Aiken and Brown have so much potential too. I hope Trestman gets them involved
