[News] 5/28 News & Notes: Several Players Stand Out

48 posts in this topic

For Pete's Sake! I've been one of Campanaro's biggest supporters and rooting for him just SO much, and now I read that he's sidelined again. I can't put into words how much that disappoints me. I haven't heard what the injury is, but I certainly hope it's not serious. I thought that the Only thing he had to prove this year was durability. His talent level speaks for itself. But, this is NOT good. Camp has a real and legitimate threat for his roster spot this year with Carter being such a similar receiver. Of course, Carter has to show what he can do and avoid injury himself, but this news that Camp is sidelined is just the worst news his supporters could have heard. Gosh, I hope it's just a super minor little thing. It was so easy for me to envision a Wes Welker Type receiver with him, but man, you gotta be able to stay on the field. I'm really disappointed. C'mon, Camp, toughen up, willya? You may not have too many chances left, if any at all depending on what has happened.

Good stuff & no reported injuries (besides the couple we already know about)

Just can't wait till game time!

Does anybody know why Camp is sidelined? That's the Last thing I wanted to read about.

That's what is going to be different about this season is, the stats are going to be so spread out, if pitta comes back we have three good TEs in Gilmore, Axe, and Pitta. Then we have a plethora of WR talent: Brown, Smith, Perriman, Waller, Camp, and then with more screen passes that means more receiving stats for the running backs, lets also not forget about JJJUUUIIICCCEE.

I love Juice, but not sure whether he won't be collateral damage of keeping too much players elsewhere, such as having 4 TEs and 6-7 WRs as well as 3 RBs if both Allen and Taliaferro are on the active roster, come beginning of season.

Tore his quadriceps but they said he could be back shortly. But with his injury past he may slip. I still don't understand why people are so high on Carter though they are saying the exact same thing about him as they did about Campanaro last year and how much did he play? I bet Carter gets signed to the practice squad I think Campanaro's job is safe for now but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets put on IR next time he gets hurt.

As long as the other WRs and TEs we've got on our roster can step up and be productive on offense, I have no quarrel with Steve Smith Sr being a punt returner. Would be fun to watch :D Though, of course, we won't see too many punts this year ;)

If they ain't, we'll need to make sure Smith Sr is safe and fresh for offense.

As far as the two point conversion goes, I feel comfortable with Tucker kicking it, why don't the Ravens think about giving the ball to Quadzilla In adverse weather to run It In after scoring a TD, that man looks so powerful with those strong legs, about Deflate-Gate, That's history now so lets have a different conversations. I would like to see and know what Belicheat and Crybaby Brady are planning on doing next, believe me, the Patriots will always be cheaters, should be interesting

I agree with you, Popeye, that the Cheatriots will Always be cheaters and, no doubt, will still be looking for some way to "skirt" the rules to get themselves some kind of advantage. I'm SO glad our organization has way too much class to operate like that. I was a little surprised that Joe gave a serious answer to the question of how he prefers the footballs. Knowing Joe, it wouldn't have surprised me to read that he had answered the question with a one word answer; "Oblong", or even "Egg-Shaped."" LOL!

Ravens seem to always have a full back on the roster I bet his job is safe. I think we had 7 wide receivers on the roster last season I bet they cut it to 6 this season to make room for the 4 tight ends they will need to keep on the roster. I just bet Boyle or Pitta (depending on injury status) will be inactive for games because we won't need 4. The position people need to look at the cuts are at cornerback (we have so many now its rediculous and will be interesting to see who makes the final roster) and defensive line with all the young pieces and others they signed and moved in here. I'm surprised the Ravens have yet to sign a solid inside linebacker like Bynes was for us a couple years ago because one injury to CJ Mosley or Daryl Smith and that inside linebacker core will be exposed. Great talent at the position just depth wise the next person up would be Arthur Brown and they talk about how he hasn't played well enough to even get into even one package on the field.

I hope you're right about Juice. I want to keep him and I like the fullback position as such, so glad that Ravens are fond of it. There will definitely be plenty of cuts among the DBs, Ravens have a plethora of them right now and just picking and choosing. However, considering how many offensive weapons we already know we want to keep I'm worried of losing some fan favorites of mine. After all, the fullback position is becoming more and more an extra blocker position and gets the ball less and less. Luckily, Juice has something extra, because he knows how to catch screens and has soft hands.

Not sure what's happening on the 2nd tier of ILBs, behind Mosley and Daryl Smith... Beyond depth in case of injuries, we should be raising an ILB to replace Buck in a couple. I have no idea what Arthur Brown is like, but taking into account that there is almost no mention of him anywhere, I will take you at your word, that he ain't that good.

Thanks for the update, trevor, and I hope you're right about his roster spot still being safe, at least for the time being. Despite Camp's injuries last season and now, I would still be Very surprised if he would clear waivers in an attempt to get him onto our PS. Perhaps, Carter, unless he impresses Big time in preseason, would, indeed, have a better chance of making it through the waiver process. Nevertheless, Camp is just going to Have to find a way to get tougher if he wants to have a career in the NFL. No team, Ravens included, are going to waste a roster spot on a guy that just can't stay on the field. I like Camp a lot, an Awful lot, but even his biggest fan has to realize that the NFL isn't the place for an injury prone player. I sincerely hope time will help him figure out a way to avoid more injuries, because if he doesn't I don't think the NFL is the place for him. I'm still rooting for him, but I'm really beginning to become concerned for his NFL prospects.

I really don't know why they would release Juice. We will still need a FB and he played very well last year. He is also dynamic and I think we need to get him involved more. He needs to hold onto the ball a little better though. But he isn't going anywhere. I also highly doubt we keep 7 WRs. I say 6 is the limit, and if Pitta is healthy and comes back, he may have more of a WR role instead of TE. We have blockers so all Pitta has to do is focus on catching passes. That may force us to only keep 5 WRs with 4 TEs.

I like your proposition. Would be better for Pitta as well, if he's fragile.

Taliaferro & Gilmore are my two favorite up and comers.

I'm excited to see those two as well. Very excited about this team's depth and depth of competition.

Of all the young players on our team, I have to say I'm the most excited about the Williams/Jernigan combo, and KLM if he can stay healthy and get to starting at DE. If those guys play up to their potential they could be up there with the best interior 3-4 D-lines in football. They are all fierce competitors with abnormal size/speed/strength. Williams and Jernigan remind me a little of Sam Adams and Goose, except a little lighter and more agile (good for the way the game is played now). People were rightly sad when Ngata got traded, but they're going to love watching those two guys fill the gaps.

I lie this news and notes since I'm unable to see any action it's good to see notes from OTAs and what not. Helps me imagine what's going on!

Ravens had little choice with Ngata because of all the other under performers so step up or step out.

I said this last week I'm not sure Juice (being a whatever the hell is and does) besides ST's provides much added value in an obsolete position..obviously they are going to cut /carry less WR's or TE's to get this guy his slot which to me is pointless
