@trevorsteadman you can't just keeping thinking "what if" somebody gets hurt we have to believe everybody can stay healthy we got plenty of depth to compete for a Super Bowl.

I hope that Allen will be a more useful long-term contributor than Pierce turned out to be (after his rookie year, that is). But ultimately I'm still hoping/counting on Taliaferro showing the coaches that he can be our future starter. He has "Jamal Jr." written all over him, with the way he runs, and I just really hope he gets a chance to have more carries and a bigger role this year. Forsett in no way needs to be getting as many carries as he did last season, he will not last if we keep doing that.

Or I will be happy if Will Hill and Terrance Brooks change number have Will Hill at 31 and Terrance Brooks at 33 or 35 that could be cool as well.

But that's naive. We know that in the sport of professional football, many, many, many injuries occur.

Its one of the primary reasons why the FO stressed the concept of depth this offseason. They already know, even with the loss in FA of some players, that this teams starting 22 players can compete with basically every single team in this league.

But that doesn't really matter, because there probably won't be a single game this season where literally any NFL team will start its best players. Some teams get lucky and have 1-2 starters get injured on an annual basis, and some teams have 8-10. Its never been a question of "if" somebody important gets hurt... its always been a question of "when". The idea is to assemble depth at as many positions as possible, so that the loss of key players can be minimized.

"He's a no-nonsense downhill runner with terrific feet for his size who finishes through contact — traits very much on display last season."  Who's paying this guy? Talliaferro may be the softest 226 pound rb Ihave ever laid eyes on, Buck Allen plays a very balanced game, he may not have the weight that Talliaferro has but he naturally runs harder, a quick film study will show that.

@rmcjacket23 agreed injuries will happen in the NFL. We just can't think that way "if" or "when" somebody gets hurt we just got to believe that our important starters can stay healthy. The most important aspect this year is that they can play football the entire year instead out of a year injury that's the important goal of our players. If they have injures, their goal for players is to be minor not major injury. But it always will be a major injury at some point.

I would have to agree, I think he runs way too high and is lousy at short yardage.  I have high hopes for Buck Allen.

thank you. im just sick of seeing fans and analysts alike who see him standing on the sideline and assume hes some machine. he has good acceleration, and literally offers nothing more, dudes a big pair of pads and nothing more.

I expect Allen to win the backup position and be the immediate starter if Forsett were to get injured or lack in production. I have a hard time seeing LT being anymore than a situational back, he's big and powerful, but lacks the speed and elusiveness to breakaway from defenders and score in open space.

Campanaro has an injury on the 1st day of voluntary OTAs.  This will give other guys a chance to audition for the role of punt returner.  It's possible that we keep a 7th receiver to return punts.  I clearly see Buck being the receiving back to fill the role that Rice had previously in the backfield.  If he can be the one with gifted hands and YAC, then he will be the favorite at 2nd rb.

Terrence Brooks gave up 33 as soon as his college number 31 became available. So I would say this likely isn't going to happen.

@mkam1904 or just get Will Hill 35 then it's a better number in my opinion. But if not it's okay I guess 33 for Will Hill and 23 or Lewis ain't that bad once I think about it but I still like 35 for Will though.

Mad respect to the guys for being honest about LT. He had a great rookie season when healthy but we all can agree that he runs way too high for a guy his size. He averaged 4.3 yards a carry which is not bad but we have to consider that Pierce averaged 4.0 yards behind the same line.

I'm a big fan of LT but he needs to run down hill much more than he did last year. If he can master 3rd and short then he will be a valuable asset to this team. Keep your feet moving and fall forward after contact.

Buck Allen will get a few chances early to prove that hes just as good as LT running behind our OLine. My ideal situation would be Forset running the ball 15 times a game and Allen 10 times.LT could come in for a few plays here and there and just dominate short yardage situations.

to each his own but I could care less what numbers any of our players wear- all I care about is production!
