Will Hill

I think the biggest negative on his value is he's one mistake from a year long suspension. That can't be underrated.

Just curious how long will that hover over him for. Say he stays out of trouble for like 3 years and then gets arrested for something small. Year suspension still?

Great question. I think it's possible he could still get a year suspension but under those circumstances he'll likely appeal and see it reduced.

I believe so, but you'd have to think the appeal would reduce it if he were clean for am extended period of time

Using Pro Football Focus' list, here's the best player at every position from last season.

Offense:

Defense:

Like i said.

What a player..and look at how much we are paying him. The best value player in the NFL.

The link you posted - "Pro Football Focus' list" doesn't mention Will Hill at all................ No where on that site do they list Hill as the top safety, literally no where. He is listed as the 14th best safety of 2014 with a 9.3 grade.

Don't get me wrong I like Hill a lot and I think an off season with the Ravens and their coaches can only do him well; but lets not get it twisted the man is not the best Safety in the NFL and Pro Football Focus never claimed he was.

The link you posted is not the same one that was originally posted. And regardless that site ranked him as the 14th best safety.

14th

Hill doesn’t help himself with regular suspensions but he’s just so good when he plays that he keeps cracking the Top 101. This year was no different as despite playing just 724 snaps he still had sixth-highest safety grade, with a couple of really impressive outings in the playoffs. Imagine what he could do if his off-field decision making was as good as his on the field play?

So, like I was saying he was the 14th ranked safety of 2014 by PFF

A) You need a membership

B) PFF called him the 6th best safety

C) that's likely regular season rankings where he played, what, eight or nine games?

D) the 6th overall ranking factors in the playoffs, which brings him up to 6th overall, but still only features 10 or 11 games. So, yeah, good stuff

10 Regular season games, 12 if you add the post season which does bring him up to 6th according to PFF rankings. So, fair enough, but no matter how you look at it I think we can all agree Hill isn't a top safety but probably in that next tier down.

It depends on who you're top tier safeties are and how many you put in there

I don't agree with that. I think Hill with a full off season and the ability to play through a full season. Is a top safety.

Don't forget the  injury riddled dumpster fire of a secondary he was playing in last year too.

Not to pile on but PFF's seasonal rankings are cumulative of each week of that year.  Since the end of year rankings go by the totals added up from each week, playoffs included, wouldn't ranking 6th overall for 2014 after missing 6 total games imply that he was, in fact, one of the top safeties in the league?

I don't have a subscription but I'm willing to bet the 5 safeties above him for 2014 played more games, and thus had more numbers to add into that ending total/ranking.  I can see that they ranked Harrison Smith, Devin McCourtey, and Eric Weddle on their top 101.  Weddle and Smith had 16 games to accumulate points.  McCourtey had 19.  All these are against Hill's 12 (of which I don't recall if he was even full time his first game back).

Anybody with a subscription able to post what the safeties ahead of Hill had as their seasonal total?  I see above that Hill had 9.3 grade on the season.  If the other 5 players are that much better than their grade shouldn't be close enough that 4-6 more games for Hill would have mattered

I think Will Hill has found a home with the Ravens. I cant wait to see him playing smashmouth football this season. Hill looks better in purple than he did in blue for sure.

And he missed games that season. Think it was 4? He's definitely a top safety. Reminds me of Weddle.

3 year/9million would be good for will hill if yanda extension came through. Only because I like will and don't wanna see him price himself to a Cap open team.
