[News] Late For Work 5/22: Uni Watch: Ravens One Of Worst-Dressed Teams

95 posts in this topic

As far as the uniforms go I don't like that shade of purple darker almost black would be much better. I really prefer the black uniforms after all they are ravens and ravens are black. I wish they could wear a darker purple if they can't wear black.

There's not to much I don't like about the black unis, but I do agree that they should change the sock color to white, I always thought it would go great with the white numbers and I agree they should add some stripes to the black pants to make e'm standout more. top 10 uni list #1-49ers #2-chargers #3-patriots #4-seahawks #5-ravens #6-steelers(other than the bumble bee look I like their unis) #7-falcons #8-saints #9-Texans #10-colts

So, football is now a fashionista sport? Do we need to read about the 10 best dressed teams? Or, the 10 worst dressed? How about a Unitas haircut with the all black? Get outta town! I am old school, teams had a home uniform and an away uniform. Ravens are purple and white. Oakland is black. I know Md politicians mimic California politicians, is that the reason for black in Ravens uniforms? Uniforms do not win the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh's bumble bee/jail bird uniforms are hilarious looking, why didn't UniWatch mention that?

When it comes to athletic clothing or uniforms, I think men can be just as particular about what they wear as females. Some men have athletic shoe closets to rival the best of the shoe junkies these days. The ugliness of those bumble bee uniforms is a fun conversation..... what I would consider to be a humiliating "wardrobe malfunction" ....Those uniforms are worthy of a snickering snide remark or 2 at the expense of the Steelers who look so silly in them, don't you think?

Might be some cultural differences then between Europe and the USA. Here in Europe, if one satrted to talk about the soccer jerseys, especially trying to set a beauty rank, he'd sure be called gay in no time :D

Boys, let's go out and play - and preferably win. How the jersey looks... couldn't care less.

You want a bad uniform vote for the hot to cold helmut Jacksonville Jaguars.  They have such a great opportunity to make the best unis and they come out with a fashion risk like that. UGG

Absolutely greed. That particular reporter needs to do more homework or at less talk to some of the guys in the cubicles around him...

2015 Offseason Team Grade: Where ESPN (one reporter) Got It Wrong

When you assess 'Off-season Team Rankings and Grades' you have to look at the 'Team Power Rankings' before the off-season started and where they are now. When looking at the 'Top 10' teams, it's obvious to see that no team has gained more respect and growth based on this.

Walter Football Power Ranking: Ravens 2nd (up 1 from late off-season)

http://walterfootball.com/nflpowerrankings.php

Fox Sports Power Ranking: Ravens 5th (up 4 from early off-season)

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/power-rankings

ESPN Power Ranking: Ravens 7th (up 4 from early off-season)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings

Additional Power Rankings Before and Currently:

  • SBNation Ranking: Ravens 6th (up 3 from early off-season)
  • CBS Sports Ranking: Ravens 6th (up 4 from early off-season)
  • USAToday Ranking: Ravens 5th (up 3 from early off-season)
  • ESPN Ranking: Ravens 7th (up 4 from early off-season)

The Ravens have averaged plus 3.5 Power Ranking positions on every poll and have done it with one of the worst cap spaces going into the off-season, ever. That said, how is it even possible for one ESPN analyst to rank the Ravens 'B-' for this off-season work when every other ranking (including their own Power Ranking) puts us as the 'most' projectively, improved team off-season? Answer: It's beyond rationality.

At the end of the day, the Ravens not only out-resourced the AFC North this off-season, but out-ranked the entire league as far as 'projected elevated growth and rankings' goes the off-season.

He likes the Steelers Bumblebee uniform and thinks that is preferable to our 'leotard'. Dude needs a sanity check.

Agreed (and not just me). Even 50% of die-hard Steeler fans hate those 'Bubble Bee' uniforms'.

Sales are not...so good.

Where did this dude get his sense of tatse?

The Ravens Uni's are awesome- more so in all black. It would be interesting to see an all purple set at some point.

Those Steeler bumblebee uniforms? Really???  They hurt my eyes.  The only thing that would make them entertaining would be the addition of those headbands with the moving antenna's on them like they had on Saturday Night Live. lol   :258801:

Steelers best uniform...really? Apparently UNI is a Steelers troll, it would seems those "purdy" yellow and black jerseys didn't dazzle the Ravens. Pretty uniform? Who got stomped in the wild card game....in their own stadium......yeah, still feels awesome to say that! :) GO RAVENS!

I still admire Ray Rice somewhat, I hope he finds a team willing to take him as for the Ravens taking him back is wishful thinking. Good luck Ray in your future endeavors

Oh boy. As soon as I saw the headline, I knew everyone here would be up in arms. Frankly, all I care about are W's and L's, and uniforms do not determine that.

That's so funny, a few years ago (2012 I believe?) NFL.com had a FAN based voting of the best uniforms of all time, and the Ravens were in the final Four (http://www.nfl.com/greatestuni/round5). We even beat Pittsburg's UNIs head to head in round 3 (http://www.nfl.com/greatestuni/round3). Ironically enough it was spearheaded by Dave Damesheck.

So this other guy doesn't like our pants not having stripes? Look at the pictures he references, some do. That's because our ALTERNATE uniforms do not have stripes on the pants. And we have had numerous combinations of white socks, black socks, with stripes, without stripes in the past.

I personally love the cool Ravens shield with the heraldic banner of George Calvert, Lord Baltimore. The Small Ravens logo in front is nice. Our number font is one of the coolest out there. I also Liked the black "Polo collar" they had in 2012. All in all, for a new uniform when speaking holistically about the NFL, it feels original.

Uni Watch judge Paul Lukas, is obviously either a Steeler fan...or doing heavy doses of psychedelic drugs. I mean, really??? That Steeler bumblebee uni. looks like a chain-gang viewed through an old, bad color picture tube.

No unfortunately guaranteed money is guaranteed..

Thanks for the answer!

I found this just now:

@jamisonhensley: This is the last year that Ray Rice remains on the books for the Ravens. Rice counts $9.5 million against the Ravens' cap. In fact, he has the second-largest cap number for Baltimore (behind quarterback Joe Flacco's $14.55 million cap figure) and he isn't on the team. In case there is any confusion, the Ravens aren't paying Rice this season. This dead money is the remaining pro-rated portion of all of the bonuses that were already paid to him. The reason why Rice's cap hit was spread over 2014 and 2015 was the timing of his release. If the Ravens had cut him prior to June 1, his entire cap hit would have been absorbed last season. Because it came in September, the dead money was split into two seasons.

Black was, is, and will always be beautiful. I just love it when The Ravens wear all black dressed to swoop down on all unsuspecting prey.

What people think and say about the Ravens off-season moves at this time now means absolutly nothing Wait for a couple of months and a couple of years then you will really be able to see how their off-season was the same with the rest of the 31 other teams. As far as the best dressed teams whatever things always look better in purple and black.
