[News] Late For Work 5/18: Ozzie Newsome Losing Patience With Two Possible Contract Extensions?

109 posts in this topic

Yanda has been nothing but fair, and i think if a offer is fair in his eyes he will sign....I really want KO re-signed, but i just don;t think we can afford him, but he is a O-Lineman that plays nasty, and i love it.....

Ozzie's losing patience?

Uhhh, Mr. Hemsley, stay with ESPN and their contract situations; in the Raven Nation contracts are in Pat Moriarity's "wheel-house"! Ozzie's a spectator to the process like we are!

His comment is likely alluding that we'll move on with the season and not dwell on this all year! :oldwiseman:

Flacco's contract is enough respect for him....Seriously though what makes Flacco so awesome, is he isn't a diva, and he doesn't allow polls, or negative opinions get to him, he is Joe Cool....

I will have a cow if we somehow lose Tucker. Most accurate kicker in NFL history is quite a bargaining chip for Justin. Even if we pay Justin big bucks, he would still be a bargain that pays huge dividends.... translating into wins when the game is on the line. Hope we can wrap up this deal asap.

Elliot Harrison is a "Waste Product" and a Stooler lover. We don't care much about his "opinions"

Sam Koch makes 2.5 mil,and is a FA next year, so that kind of money could slide over to Tucker...Tucker likes it here, and has a nice following, but we will see what happens next year....

I get that Flacco doesn't put Peyton-esque numbers on a yearly basis, but Harrison is just being a mix of heavily insulting and a troll.

So what else is new? Flacco getting slighted as usual. Joe is Mr. Laid Back and doesn't let the critics rattle him. But Joe is a fierce competitor in his own quiet and confident way. Joe will just go about his business and win games. I hope that this year we have the personnel behind Joe with a dominant and consistent offense to shut some of the critics up who unfairly rip him to shreds in the regular season.

Harrison constantly bashes the Ravens or pays them no attention so I wouldn't be too worried about off-season rankings. I realistically believe Joe could fall anywhere between 5 to 7 currently, but that's likely to change once he tears it up this season. Oh and if we factor in post season, i'll take him over Brady or Rodgers anyday.

Top priotity should be to sign Tucker. We picked him up as a UDFA so he has been a bargain for years. He is a one man point machine. No reason to let him walk.

The team has a villain reputation, as we hardly get props in the press, and anything negative gets blown out of proportion...Yet...We just keep on winning, and that can't be denied...

For years I haven't been a big Flacco fan in the regular season, however, I believe he is THE MAN in playoff. BUT if you look at his resume against the QB's in this top 10 list you have to wonder what the requirements were to get on this list.

  • No. 1: Aaron Rodgers (Packers) - Flacco hasn't beaten in regular season
  • No. 2: Tom Brady (Patriots) - Flacco has beaten in playoffs and regular season
  • No. 3: Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) - Flacco has beaten in playoffs and regular season
  • No. 4: Drew Brees (Saints) - Flacco has beaten in regular season
  • No. 5: Tony Romo (Cowboys) - Flacco has beaten in regular season
  • No. 6: Andrew Luck (Colts) - Flacco has beaten in playoffs
  • No. 7: Russell Wilson (Seahawks) - Hasn't faced Wilson yet.
  • No. 8: Peyton Manning (Broncos) - Flacco has beaten in playoffs
  • No. 9: Philip Rivers (Chargers) - Flacco has beaten in regular season
  • No. 10: Smith - Flacco has beaten in regular season

How many QB's in the NFL has that type of resume against this so called top 10 list?

hint hint... manger changes will come 2016. damn.

That would be in line with Oz saying "We have to win now" earlier in the year. The plus side is that I can't remember having such a well rounded and deep roster as we have this year. It should be a good season!

We like Tucker too, but it's up to him to sign an extension. As some ex-Ravens have found out before, you sometimes have to choose, whether money or Ravens family is more important to you.

It's funny that Elliott brings up past seasons with almost every QB he put on the list. Then when it comes to putting Smith ahead of Flacco, he says "It's about going into 2015, not about what you've done in the past" No love.

No way they will lose Tucker. Worse case scenario they will franchise him next year. I bet the sticking point is Janakowski's goofy contract ( Thanks Oakland) which is way out of line with the league average for top kickers. If I am Tucker's agent the negotiations start at $4.5 million annually, which I am sure the Ravens will not go that high. A 4 year $14 million dollar deal seems fair enough.

It grieves me, and I can't believe I'm saying this because I am a HUGE Tucker fan, but with a great front line and a great quarterback, you win games with touchdowns, and the kicker is only there for kickoffs and extra points.  I think we need to sign Yanda first, protect Flacco, and win games with offense.  Now, in the Trent Dilfer days, we needed a great kicker like Stover to compensate for our average offense.  And, yes, I love Tucker and hope he stays a Raven for life!

It will be tough to keep FA as teams have often over paid our players, and for the most part they haven't lived up to the big money elsewhere...Can only hope Tuck, and KO see that...They will be offered fair market value i imagine, but Oz won;t over pay, like other teams have done....

If there was one additional second left in the game or an additional timeout left, Tucker would have had an opportunity to kick a game winning FG vs the Chargers this past season.  Having a kicker as accurate as Tucker is a weapon that many teams don't have the luxury of having.  You can't state enough how important Tucker has been to our success since he joined the Ravens.

Really, Alex Smith, a guy who has only played 2 full seasons in his entire career and been to the playoffs only 3 times vs. Flacco, who has yet to miss a game, been to the playoffs all but one year in his career, won numerous awards and has a Super Bowl ring, not to mention been in the league for a shorter time than Alex Smith. But whatever Elliot Harrison.....

If they want to make the game a little harder, reverse some of the rules they have put on CB's....
