My 53 man roster let's see yours

If they don't think there is ANY chance Myers will play in 2015, they may simply IR him and give the roster spot to Reid for the additional protection at tackle.

It depends.  Ryan Jensen missed 10 weeks of the season and we kept him on the roster because we wanted to get him back to practice as soon as he was ready.  Robert Myers is Juan Castillo's pet project, so they may want to keep him around for the purpose of getting some practice and developing.  I do think it's becoming increasingly more likely that he ends up on that phantom IR (that I hate so much).  The health questions could force our hand there, but I don't think it's a sure thing that he ends up on IR even if he won't play.  If we want to develop him, we'll keep him on the 53.

Myers needs to get real time to be prepared for KO not being re-signed.

The line 2016   =  Monroe - Urschel - Zuttah - Yanda - Wagner (although I'd prefer urschel at C)

The line 2017   = Monroe - Myers - Urschel - Yanda - Wagner

I'm not so sure about 6 DL only but with LT's injury we just have to carry another RB for time being. Perhaps stashing Myers would have been an option (add Bilukidi or KLM) but with all the O line injuries lately we can't afford that. With Webb's and Melvin's health issues, we also need 6 CBs on the roster. Also, I think we have to go with 6 WRs partly because of health issues and partly because it would be stupid to let Waller's potential go.

Arthur Brown - my feeling is that he's been shopped around. If we can't trade him to recover at least part of the cost it will be last day decision between him, Orr and McLellan but I think he'll find a new home before the season starts.

My 53:

LS: Morgan Cox
P:  Sam Koch
K:  Justin Tucker

QB: Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub
RB: Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Buck Allen, Terrence Magee
HB: Kyle Juszczyk
TE: Crocket Gillmore, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle

LT: Eugene Monroe, James Hurst
LG: Kelechi Osemele, Bobby Myers
C:  Jeremy Zutah, Ryan Jensen
RG: Marshal Yanda, John Urschel
RT: Rick Wagner

WR: Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, Michael Campanaro, Breshad Perriman, Darren Waller

DL: Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Chris Canty, DeAngelo Tyson, Lawrence Guy, Carl Davis
OLB: Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, Courtney Upshaw, Za'darius Smith
ILB: CJ Mosley, Daryl Smith, Albert McLellan, Zach Orr

S:  Kendrick Lewis, Will Hill, Terrence Brooks, Anthony Levine, Brynden Trawick
CB: Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb, Rashaan Melvin, Kyle Arrington, Tray Walker, Cassius Vaughn

IR: Matt Elam, Brent Urban, Julian Wilson

PS: Fitz Toussaint, J. Butler, DeAndre Carter, Tom Nelson, Bryn Renner, S. Means + others

I don't think 6 DL is a big deal, especially when the options we have for the 6th DL spot are all underwhelming.  KLM, Tyson, and Bilukidi are all average players, and probably similar to guys we could find on the open market if the need arises.  I'd keep 1 for depth purposes and use that typical 7th DL spot on Magee.

The only think I really question here is 8 LBs vs. 11 DBs.  We've carried 8 only once in the last 5 years.  I think they'd opt to keep the pass rush potential of Means, assuming he's healthy of course.  If he's not, that's another story.

Yep, pretty thin. What do we do though? Cut one corner and potentially go back to secondary hell with Webb perpetually injured and Melvin now nicked again or one of the safeties (Levine, Trawick), having in mind that Brooks is still not 100% and Trawick might be our best ST player?

53 is not enough!

I'd let Trawick go, personally.  He's a quality ST player, but has been so awful on defense.

Now that I entered my roster in the pick the team contest...

Quarterback (2):

In: Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub

Out: Bryn Renner

I said I might be moving over to Team Renner, but that doesn't mean I actually think it's going to happen.  Schaub stays due to the guaranteed contract and experience.  Renner should make it to the practice squad.

Running Back (5):

In: Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Buck Allen, Terrence Magee, Kyle Juszczyk (FB)

Out: Fitzgerald Toussaint, Kiero Small (FB)

Magee lucks out in the fact that Taliaferro is going to miss some time in the regular season.  This is a position that I expect we monitor for cuts, as I'm not convinced we feel comfortable with Buck as the primary backup.

Wide Receiver (6):

In: Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, Breshad Perriman, Michael Campanaro, Darren Waller, Marlon Brown

Out: Jeremy Butler, Tom Nelson, Daniel Brown

Jeremy Butler was the minicamp darling, but has looked nothing more than ordinary as a WR in preseason.  He's done nothing to earn a spot over any of the 6 I project to make the team right now.

Tight End (3):

In: Crockett Gillmore, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle

Out: Konrad Reuland

No questions here.

Offensive Line (8):

In: Eugene Monroe, Kelechi Osemele, Jeremy Zuttah, Marshal Yanda, Rick Wagner, John Urschel, James Hurst, Ryan Jensen, Jah Reid*

Out: Robert Myers (phantom IR), Nick Easton, Kaleb Johnson, Blaine Clausell

Jah Reid gets the star because I don't think he'll make the original 53, but he'll be back in a few days.  We'll need a spot for Urban to move to IR-DTR (which I'm projecting) and Reid is the most logical choice to cut and bring back.  He doesn't have to go through waivers, so he'll hang out and be back in a few days.  Myers get the dreaded phantom IR, but he just hasn't done enough to knock Jensen off of the roster.  Easton, Johnson, and Clausell are prime practice squad guys.

Defensive Line (7):

In: Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Chris Canty, Carl Davis, Lawrence Guy, Kapron Lewis-Moore, Brent Urban*

Out: Christo Bilukidi, DeAngelo Tyson, Micajah Reynolds

Urban needs a spot on the 53 if we want to use the return designation on him, so he's here short term and Reid takes his place as I alluded to above.  I'd love to add depth here via a cut, but I think we'll roll with these 6 for now.  Bilukidi could make it, but I couldn't find a spot for him in my projection.

Outside Linebacker (4):

In: Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, Courtney Upshaw, Za'Darius Smith

Out: Brennen Beyer, Zach Thompson

Beyer has a shot with Means going to IR, but he won't see the field at his position and there are other valuable players on ST that I'd keep over him.  He shouldn't have a problem making it to the PS.

Inside Linebacker (5):

In: CJ Mosley, Daryl Smith, Zach Orr, Arthur Brown, Albert McClellan

Out: Andrew Bose

We all know the deal with Brown and how much of a disappointment he's been, but I still think there's value to be had, and he looks to be much improved on ST, saving his spot.

Cornerback (6):

In: Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb, Rashaan Melvin, Kyle Arrington, Cassius Vaughn, Tray Walker

Out: Asa Jackson, Quinton Pointer

Pointer started hot and then faded heavy, while Vaughn has been consistently doing well in preseason.  He's a veteran and I think we'll opt to keep him around unless a better option comes available.  Jackson may have won himself the job and lost himself the job in the same night.  I have him firmly on the outside with us looking for options at KR but being willing to wing it with some of the guys we have for the time being.

Safety (4):

In: Will Hill, Kendrick Lewis, Terrence Brooks, Anthony Levine

Out: Brynden Trawick, Nick Perry

Trawick is a stellar ST guy, but is so awful on defense that I think he finds himself on the outside looking in.  We could opt to drop a LB or bring him back instead of Reid if we think highly enough of his ST play, but for now, I have him out.

Special Teams (3):

In: Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, Morgan Cox

The "competition" has been waived, so it's confirmed that the Wolfpack will remain.

I think we'll be looking at some potential additions at RB, WR, DL, CB, and KR.  I don't think we'll address them all, but I imagine you might have 2 guys or so that aren't currently on the roster be added a day or so after final cuts.

Mine that I just submitted looks identical to yours rmw, except I had Pointer making it over Vaughn.

I had Pointer originally, but it seems he's fallen pretty far.  He went from being one of the first reserves in to one of the last in, which usually never bodes well for a guy's chances.

We were close on ours, I went with Tyson over KLM and kept Trawick over Vaughn, offense looked exactly the same

If I knew more about Tyson's injury, I probably would have picked him.  It seemed pretty serious, so I went with the one that is actually healthy.

I almost went Trawick over Vaughn since I think Brooks will play some CB.  In the end, I made my decision on thinking that we'd rather have a true CB with Webb's injury history and Walker's struggles on Saturday night.

Yeah both could go either way at this point, we didn't I.R. Tyson though at the same time but that hardly means anything. I actually kept Levine mainly because he at least was competent as an emergeny CB for us. Not many surprises overall though.

Just a little bit different of a thought process is all.  Illustrates the point that some of the hard cuts we thought we'd have to make are actually quite easy.

Yeah makes things easy when the backups don't play well in the pre season

Well I'll be rooting for #32 Thursday while you root for #40. Vaughn has performed well, though.

I just submitted mine. Here it is:

QB: (2) Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub

FB: (1) Kyle Juszczyk

TE: (3) Crockett Gillmore, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle

RB: (4) Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Javorius Allen, Terrence Magee

WR: (6) Steve Smith Sr, Breshad Perriman, Michael Campanaro, Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Darren Waller

OL: (8) Eugene Monroe, Kelechi Osemele, Jeremy Zuttah, Marshal Yanda, Rick Wagner, Ryan Jensen, James Urschel, Robert Myers

Secondary: (11) Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb, Kyle Arrington, Rashaan Melvin, Cassius Vaughn, Tray Walker, Will Hill III, Kendrick Lewis, Terrence Brooks, Anthony Levine, Brynden Trawick

Linebackers: (8) Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, Courtney Upshaw, Za'darius Smith, Daryl Smith, CJ Mosley, Zach Orr, Arthur Brown

Defensive Line: (7) Chris Canty, Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Carl Davis, Lawrence Guy, Kapron Lewis-Moore, Brent Urban

Special Teams: (3) Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, Morgan Cox

That's my 53. I see LB suffering for extra secondary help. Trawick was mentioned as a key component on ST this year by I believe Rosburg. With Brown actually looking better, I think he'll make it over McClellan. Since LB is looking like the backbone of the defense, I think we'll risk going light there.

On OL, I don't think Hurst impressed much this year and we'll keep Jensen over him since he can play tackle and we used him as the direct backup at LT. Since Yanda can slide right to RT and we could probably re-sign Jah Reid without much trouble after Urban goes to IRDR, this makes the most sense to me. We'll keep our draft pick (Myers) that I believe Castillo personally scouted.

I'm pretty confident in this prediction more than I've ever been. We'll see if I'm right or wrong. I'll probably miss because Ozzie will trade for someone tomorrow lol.

The only difference from my 53 is I have 9 OL (Hurst) and 6 DL (KLM). I did it before the DL injuries vs Skins, though.

Both of y'all's is very similar to mine. It's gonna come to one or two guys , if they put Myers on the phantom IR, and if urban gets the designation to return.
