My 53 man roster let's see yours

I hate to break it to everyone but i dont see Means, Myers, or Melvin making it to 53.  KLM is done, while Brent might have his last year to see what he can finally show us something on the regular season.  Brooks looks like he'll be PUP and I am really hoping Tyson & Guy make it to the list.   Boyle is in, while Waller might be the odd rookie out.   We just have too many talented WR that has more promise than the big WR giant..

Amazes me how quickly some of you are willing to cut Ozzie's prized draft picks. He works really hard to accumulate them and you have them gone is 6 weeks. It does happen but more often than not it's after 2 TCs.

This seems to be said with a lot of certainty...

Just a few years ago, everyone was saying how old we were as a team. I'd be willing to bet, we're probably in the top 10 with the youngest average age for a team.

yep, it happened so fast too, seems like we became young again overnight.

By Myers do you mean Robert Myers, the OL they just drafted in the 5th round? Not a chance he doesn't make the team.

So 4 guys on bench @ OL?  What is Myers ever going to do to contribute @ 53 when there is Urschel,Jensen, Hurst ahead of him?

Even on a very bad season, I don't see Myers ever taking a snap for us this year.   He might be the next John Simon simply due to depth.

He's a Juan Castillo favorite. He's the one that pushed the team to draft Myers, and the front office listened. They're going to make sure he's practicing and developing with the team, even if that means he's a weekly inactive.

Not all 4 OL have to be active every week. My guess would be :

Start - Monroe -KO-Zuttah-Yanda-Wagner - 5

Bench - Hurst and Urschel - 2

Inactive - Myers and Jensen - 2

With Yanda and KO both free agents next year, the ravens need insurance plans. Urschel I believe will replace Zuttah next year and myers is insurance against KO or Yanda leaving. (more likely KO)

You do realize that only 46 are active on game day.  So even if he makes the 53 roster (which I think he will), he'll probably be inactive most if not all games this season.

I did forget about that. My point is, Myer is never going to see the field this season. It a bit of a wasted spot.

Football isn't just this season. There's a future to consider too, and if the team thinks Myers is a part of that, they'll have no problem using a roster spot on a guy that won't play a snap this year.

How many years has Jah Reid taken up a roster spot?

Yes..and how much has he actually contributed to our team..zero.

I've been pretty adamant about canning Gino & REID after both failing to show ANYTHING in the 1st preseason.

If you got potential, you have to show us something. I don't believe in 'grooming the guy for the next year'. BC next year always has new guys from draft/fa ready to fill in the spot, and 'projects' always mess up the teams roster.

Never know when to put in for this contest.  It's always such a struggle lol

Just completed mine, I probably should have waited longer to see camp struggles and injuries but what the heck.

So by your logic we should have cut Brandon Williams b.c he was a project and hardly played his first year and we coulve found someone just as ready. We should've cut jimmy b.c he was a long term project not worth it. As well as Todd heap, Rick wagner, ryan Jensen, dennis pitta, jarret Johnson and so on and so on. By your logic the packers should've cut aaron Rodgers. im glad youre not our GM.

I just don't know how they're going to make a decision this year.

QB (2): Flacco, Schaub

RB (3): Forsett, Taliaferro, Allen

FB (1): Juszczyk

WR (8): Smith Sr., Aiken, Perriman, Brown, Butler, Campanaro, Waller, Carter

TE (3): Gillmore, Williams, Boyle

OL (10): Monroe, Osemele, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner, Hurst, Urschel, Myers, Reid, Jensen

DL (10): Williams, Jernigan, Canty, Urban, Davis, Guy, Tyson, Lewis-Moore, Bilukidi, Walker

ILB (5): Smith, Mosley, Brown, Orr, McClellan

OLB (5): Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, Smith, Means

CB (10): Smith, Webb, Arrington, Melvin, Walker, Pointer, Vaughn, Greenwood, Jacobs, Jackson

S (5): Hill, Lewis, Levine, Trawick, Perry

ST (3): Tucker, Koch, Cox

That's 65 guys already that I'd say have a legitimate shot at this roster.  That doesn't even include guys like Fitz Toussaint, Terrence Magee, Tom Nelson, Aldrick Robinson, etc. that would compete for a spot in the typical offseason.  Cuts are going to be so tough this year.

You don't factor those in since there's a good chance there will be at least 1-2 players on IR between weeks 1 and 6.

rmw10, If you don't object, your post seems like a great place to track injuries of potential squad member.

Since training camp is officially ending today I figured I would release my ideal and hopefully correct 53-man roster projection. September 1st 15 guys have to go.

QB: Flacco, Schaub (2)

RB: Forsett, Taliaferro, Allen, Juice (4)

WR: Smith Sr., Aiken, Perriman, Campanaro, Waller, Brown (6)

TE: Gilmore, Williams, Boyle (3)

OT: Monroe, Wagner, Hurst, Reid (4)

OG/C: Yanda, Osemele, Zuttah, Urschel, Jensen  (5)

ST: Tucker, Koch, Cox (3)

DL: Canty, Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Guy, KLM (6)

OLB: Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, Smith, Means (5)

ILB: Smith, Mosley, Orr, Brown (4)

CB: Smith, Webb, Arrington, Melvin, Walker, Pointer (6)

FS: Lewis, Brooks, Trawick (3)

SS: Hill, Levine (2)

Offensive Analysis: I think we try to squeeze Butler and Nelson on the practice squad.  They either find a way to IR Myers or he takes Jensen's spot.

Defensive Analysis: If Means gets healthy and keeps going I think we keep him over a guy like Tyson.  McClellan gets beat out by Brown, but this could easily flip flop.  My only semi surprise player to make it is Quinton Pointer over Jackson. We have given Jackson too many chances and he has not done much with any of them. KLM could be gone if he doesn't pick it up, then Tyson could work his way onto the roster.  Either way, I think we IR-DFR Urban so whoever is the last lineman gets cut once Urban is healthy.

this is pretty much identical to my 53 , other than 1 guy who I think might be a suprise and knock somebody off. Gonna keep it to myself for now since we got a contest goin on

If they don't think there is ANY chance Myers will play in 2015, they may simply IR him and give the roster spot to Reid for the additional protection at tackle.

What's the deal with 'fake' IR designations?

It's not technically legal right?

In theory it's not allowed, but done every year.  Every player has some small injury which can be cited as a reason to put him on the shelf.  In the case of Myers, he was out with a concussion for an extended period.
