Depends what you mean by breakout. In a way, Timmy broke out when Ngata got suspended. BWills had his breakout year last year. I could see Gilmore having a big year, but he's gotta compete with Williams, Pitta (potentially), and Boyle. I could see Upshaw putting up some numbers in a contract year. But, I think Camp might loc down the #3 role in our offense.

I picked Jernigan because he is penciled in as a starter right now and he is going to get on the field for a lot more snaps than he did last season. I want to see all these guys have a great season. It is just very hard to pick who is going to have a break out season. I think any WR could have a big year because the depth chart is not set in stone and we have so many young guys competing for playing time.

who has a breakout season? im gonna guess every single player on the last year of their rookie deal, off the top of the head idk who that includes, but im guessing upshaw miraculously gets double digit sacks and KO miraculously stays healthy and then they go on to get market value contracts with horrible teams.

Marlon Brown: 60 rec, 1,100 yards, 8 TD's

Lol that would be awesome. Little to hopeful? Not saying Brown can't do that but I thought he would break out last season. Did he not fit with Kub or was it the bad training camp? I honestly think the time is now for Marlon Brown.

I don't think the 8 Tds is too hopeful - however I think 1000 yards will be difficult to obtain for him- just bc i think a substantial amount of yards will be distributed between each receiver. I almost don't see any reciever topping 800 yards - even if SSS did it I would be genuinely surprised. Id love for him to prove me wrong though.

Campanaro because he is not just a slot receiver. One of his nice catches last season was on Joe Haden from outside and another catch against the Patriots late in the fourth qrter was from the outside. He will be a great Punt Returner and Harbs is always talking him up!

Also don't sleep on Jeremy Butler!

I picked Michael Campanaro because he looked just too good on tape every time he played. He always fought for the ball and seemed to be a playmaker. If he stays healthy, he's going to be a very good WR in this league.

For my second choice, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Terrence Brooks. When fully healthy, I think he takes the next step in his development as a rangy free safety with playmaking ability. He also seems to be a hard hitter. Remember when he destroyed Delanie Walker? I'd like to see more of that.

While I'm a fan of Jeremy Butler, I just don't see him making the 53 man roster over Darren Waller or even DeAndre Carter. Butler will probably be on the practice squad ready to fill in if one of the receivers goes down.

After careful consideration, I had to choose Upshaw.  I was down to him and Jernigan, but the pattern I'm seeing in the front seven is that the more senior player rises (if he's able) to the level of his predecessors.  Jernigan might have more potential than Upshaw (might), but he's the next man up and the Ravens tend to stick with that as long as he pulls his weight.  Last year there were reports that Upshaw was the quiet leader of the defense and diagnosed offenses and directed formation adjustments before the snap.  If that's true he could be the next breakout player.

If we counted rookies I'd have changed my vote.  But as I see it the impact rookies we have on offense muddle the field a bit. Perriman, Waller and Williams will diminishe Brown, Aiken and Gillmire's snaps and targets.  In the secondary, its last year's players that will muddle their overall contributions.  It will be the Jimmy and Lardarius show and the rest will be supporting cast members.

One possibility is Lorenzo Taliaferro taking a big step forward.  Given his contract, Forsett will likely end up the feature back for a while.  Buck Allen will also be their cannibalizing the snaps and Juice is pegged as a specialist.  If LT proves early on to be a durable, reliable ball carrier he could garner at least 50% of the carries.  If not he'll be our short yardage specialist.

Yeah the 8 TD's is realistic but I don't know about 1000 yards....we have plenty of targets right now. I'm not even sure about the 60 receptions either.

Look at how quick and powerful Jigg was on this sack on Brady. Great burst, hand movement and quickness to get to Brady. Man, is he going to be a great player for us. Great pass rusher and a good run stopper, will get better against the run soon. I really think he breaks out this year.

Great poll. Really makes you think. Forsett set the bar pretty high last season with the ProBowl nod no one saw coming.

When looking at the choices I think the D-linemen (Jarnigan & Williams) listed will have standout seasons, but alot of it will be taking-out blockers and creating holes for D. Smith and CJ Mosely. Standouts yes, but maybe not Breakout ProBowl-ish.

My 'Breakout' vote goes to Marlon Brown for just a ProBowl-ish like season, but Smith Sr. will most likely make the ProBowl this season. That said, if we get any 3 of these guys on the list to have 'Breakout' seasons (very possible)...watchout. We'll be Super Bowl bound.

If you could only choose one which Raven will breakout in 2015?

Requirements: No Free Agents (Arrington, K. Lewis), No Rookies, No obvious studs (Flacco, Steve Smith, Forsett, Suggs, Doom, Mosley, Jimmy Smith, ect.)

By "breakout" I'm referring to players who have never been a major contributor for us but could take the next step in 2015 (ex. McPhee in 2014)

Then you shouldn't be able to pick people like KLM and Urban because they are basically rookies? would pick Brooks if not for the injury so I'll guess Marlon.

Looking for one called Joseph Flacco

Pretty much every Ravens fan (including myself) thinks Flacco will have a career year, like I mentioned this poll is geared towards players who are more under the radar (Like McPhee & Wagner from 2014). Flacco would easily get 90%+ of the votes so it doesn't really make for an interesting poll.

Brent Urban. Hands down.

He'll take over the starting job by week 4 and he and Jernigan will make a fierce inside pass rushing duo.

I went with Brooks. I think if he can stay healthy he'll grow into the FS role and really make it his own, and I liked what I saw in his time last season.

Gotta love Timmy Jernigan - he had an incredible rookie season and he's going to be a monster sharing the line with Williams and Upshaw (who I think will stay as a largely unheralded contributor) and being spelled by Davis - but I'm not sure how much of a "breakout" he'd really be.

Brent Urban's one to get excited about. His college tape showed flashes of a (n extremely) poor man's JJ Watt, but even shades of Watt would be a lot of fun.

On the offensive side of the ball, I like Campanaro - again assuming he stays healthy - and Gillmore should be in for a huge uptick in production from a receptions perspective. I like Juice, but I think he's close to his upside - he's a great run blocker and a chain mover and I think he's already very good at that and won't become anything dramatically more flashy.

You need to define "breakout" in Flacco's case. It can't be 3700 yards + Super Bowl win, he's done that already.

Agree with ya about spreading the ball around and a solid run game. If sss gets 1000+ yards it would mean other wr's & rec'd (a few) were struggling IMO

I definitely picked Matt Elam

Just cause I can

You can but do you believe.

I picked Campanaro. He was starting to show flashes last year before his injury.

I feel it is Marlon Brown. That kid makes a play everytime his number is called.  I think it will be called much more this year. I have high hopes for the guy.

My other vote would go to Brent Urban. He could very well be the starter with Canty slowing down and Tyson being hot-cold. I think he can beat out both of them.
