[News] Joe Flacco Expects Offense To Be Even Better

47 posts in this topic

Joe has a right to be optimistic but the one caveat is Kubiak has gone. It's still an open question if Trestman can duplicate his success. He can keep the same system in place but Gary was special. If it wasn't for the opening in Denver and Elway's friendship with him he'd still be with the team.

Wagner does have another year under his belt, and I hope he can get back to his old form quickly.  He said he was going to be ready to play when training camp starts, but I don't know where he will be with his form after sustaining a big time injury.  I think by the time the season starts he will be good to go, but if that injury slows him down at the beginning of training camp is yet to be seen.  He seems like a tough guy, though, and he really looks up to Yanda to model himself after, which is ideal.  As for Hurst, he did play a lot last year, unfortunately.  He started for us at RT in both playoff games, after Wagner went down, and he started for us at LT for 3 games, when Monroe went down.  That is why he is actually a pretty important piece for us.

Ya that's right, I completely forgot about the injuries to both Monroe and Wagner in the post season. Unreal the amount of turmoil via injuries the Ravens sustained, I can't even keep track between our entire roster of CB's being decimated and the O line and Ray Rice debacle.

Joe is a company man. His comments are never sour.  He works with what he has. Four O Co ordinaters and fresh to the village Marc Trestman. The O line had injuries last year too with Wagner and Monroe.  Of course Dennis was snuffed in a pre season game.  Ray had the stupidity to get plastered all over the universe That was Supreme Debacle.  Joe Is Steady unlike the disasters up I-95 in Philly and in DC .  So, in reality our QB is steady,a team guy and wins playoff games.

Now the franchise quarterback has set the bar even higher. "I want us to be better," Flacco said. "I think we're going to be better. I definitely think we have the ability to. That's what's exciting about it."

^ Soooo, since our main man Joe Flacco has said this...we shouldn't hear ANY EXCUSES about having a new O.C. and "rookies" on the offense IF things don't go well this season.  Joe just dispelled all of that nonsense!  Let's go out there this season and be the beasts that we think we are!

Go Ravens!

The offense has added players at key positions. Adding to that, this may be the best defense we have had since 2000. Play it smart and keep our players fresh as possible. Get everyone into the lineup when the opportunity is there. Even Matt Schaub. Not playing a down for the Ravens like Marc Bulger would be a waste. Joe has nothing to prove to me, but I would like to see Joe have a career year. Offensive MVP would suit me just fine. On to Super Bowl 50.

I think Flacco continues to grow as does his confidence. Although somehow he was rated in the 90s of the NFLs top 100, thanks to the wonders of technology with rewind and pause, when they showed copies of lists players filled out for a brief second I cued them up and Flacco was at 25 or 14 or even on one list he was #4. Anyway, Joe's ongoing maturation plays into getting better as much as the weapons we have added. Joe knows there are only 32 teams, less than half of them have franchise QBs and out of those only about 6 have won the big one. If you consider in the last 4 years Joe has had as many OCs and once out from under the thumb of Cameron, Joe has really developed. Hopefully, Trestman is as advertised.

This offense could possibly be the best offense the Ravens ever had. I really do not see any major weaknesses on offense. So much potential and upside with players the Ravens have added on offense along with players we have from last year. Our shoulders/arms are gonna be sore this year throwing our hands up in the air/clapping/whooping many times after touchdowns. Looking forward to seeing how good this offense is. Should be a fun year. Go Ravens!

Overall, I think this team as a whole, is better than the 2000 team. Offensively the best I've seen. Defensively, with a younger and faster D-line, it could be incredible!

Slow starts by the offense have been ongoing problems since Harbaugh took over as head coach. Even before last year, there have been several times when Flacco & the offense have disappeared for entire halves and more. I'm not sure if that is more Harbaugh's fault or Flacco's though.

I always thought both offense & defense started slow

Lets break the 4,177 yards, and 33 touchdowns. That would put you as the top Ravens QB.

Being the Super Bowl MVP makes him the top Ravens QB.

I would love to turn on espn or NFL network sunday pregame shows and listen to the analysts say, "How can anyone stop the Ravens high powered, high scoring offense?"

Our offensive line is all under the age of 30, and it only makes sense that they should be better this year. One thing that is important to note, Hurst now has a year under his belt, and after the type of challenges he was thrown into face last year, he should be working hard this offseason. He went up against some of the best pass rushers in the NFL, as an un-drafted rookie. He knows what level he needs to get to. I think he still needs one more year to be completely ready, but I still think he will be a lot better this year. I mention this because our starting Tackles went down a few times during the season, and Hurst' role as our backup tackle is actually pretty important. We do have a solid backup guard in Urschel, though.

Yanda turned 30 last September.

I'll need another 1,000-plus yard year out of Justin Forsett to believe that he's the real deal! I like him but I saw some late season drag in his legs.

Here's hoping he has done his conditioning and endurance work over the off-season!  :oldwiseman:

It sure would be nice to be able to keep an OC around for a while. Of course, he has to be good at his job. That goes without saying, but some consistency there can only help. I know that they're stressing that their basic scheme won't change but, still, it would be nice for Joe to be able to built and Maintain some continuity with his OC rather than have to adapt to a new one every year. I do believe this offense has the potential to be our best ever, but I think it should be even better a couple years down the line as our young receivers gain more and more experience and Joe develops confidence and knowledge of each of them. I would especially like to see us extend Yanda this year and be able to sign KO to an extension next year as well. I'd like to see this OL stay together for a few more years until age creeps up to them and forces us to retool as we go forward. I Would like to see Monroe play a bit better than he did last year. I will admit that I did expect him to do a little better than he did. If he doesn't improve, an upgrade at LT might not be out of the question. But, for now, I'm pretty excited to see what this offense can do and I really do expect it to improve as our receivers get that experience I referred to.

The offense better improve. The Ravens did virtually nothing to address their most glaring defensive weakness, the secondary. Depending on Smith and Webb to play a full season is a real long shot. Arrington is not in their league. Melvin did well when thrown to the dogs, but Brady destroyed him. Banking your season on two lame corners doesn't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. And don't get me started on Elam. He flat out stinks.

How can you say the Ravens did nothing to address their secondary? My goodness! Ozzie signed a starting safety who almost certainly will be a significant upgrade over Darian Stewart, our starter from last year. And then he added a starting slot CB who, also, should be a Big upgrade over our revolving door of CB after injured CB. That's Two new starters, both of which should be much better than who they will replace. And Ozzie may very well not be finished yet. He, no doubt, will be monitoring every CB and safety that becomes a salary cap cut before the season begins to see if he thinks he can upgrade our secondary even more than he already has. He has consistently said that he believes a team can Not have too much depth at the CB position. Personally, I think Ozzie has Already upgraded our secondary and it would not surprise me in the least if he were to add yet another veteran CB before all is said and done. I think he's done a great job and I suspect he's not done yet. Have faith in Ozzie. He knows what he's doing. Nobody Ever can foresee injuries, and yes, Jimmy Smith and Webby have had their share, but I believe our depth is already better and, at least to start, our secondary is better this year than last year's was.

Quite a few posters have hit on a key element our offense really needs to focus on and improve at, and that is its consistently slow starts. So many times our offense has been almost totally absent without leave in nearly, if not all, the entire first half of games. Then, it is forced to play catch up and it seems to be a totally different offense in the second half of games. This offense NEEDS to come out of that locker room at the Beginning of games ready to play. It needs to be focused and play with the same sense of urgency that it plays with when it is trailing in games. Our offense nearly Always plays with no, or very little, intensity and urgency when starting the games. Correct that and it will Greatly improve our offense, aid the defense, and make us a much better team. To me, that falls on the coach. It is His job to have his team ready to play when it steps onto the field. Correct that and we will be hard to beat.
