[News] Joe Flacco Expects Offense To Be Even Better

47 posts in this topic

My expectations are high for this year. However, I have some concern about how quickly all the pieces can fall into place, new OC, new players, etc... Just want us to work out a lot of the inevitable kinks in the off season. Start opening day smoking hot and ignite on fire throughout the season. Get to work guys and lets be ready to dominate on offense.

Although it's overblown, hear me out. I would like to see Flacco out there practicing with his WRs/TEs privately like Manning. Chemistry is going to be VERY important this season, probably more than ever than the past years. Steve Smith Sr is the only veteran WR that's proven & the only WR with 25 Receptions now that Torrey is gone. I have faith in our WRs/TEs & coaching no doubt but other than Smith Sr they're relatively still young & learning. We can't afford for Flacco & the WRs to be off like Flacco & Torrey/Jacoby were last season (specially with the tough schedule we have this year).

Totally dude, that's why Manning has so many more SB rings than Joe!

First I would like the offense to continue the best part from last season (Strong offensive line play, less ints 12 or fewer, strong run game). The areas where the offense needs improvement was TDs in the redzone, 3rd and short, and most important starting fast. The most import factors are learning the playbook, chemistry , and health.

Getting off to a better start in games is definitely somethin they need to improve! It was so frustrating watching them in the first half of most of their games- drives would constantly stall and they could just not get going. Sometimes they wouldn't get going until there was about 10 minutes left In the game when it was almost too late. Hopefully we don't have that problem this year.

I think what Flacco may mean is the offense should run smoother, having had a year of the zone blocking schemes under their belts, and with the routes pretty much staying the same, with Trestman adding a twist to it....Joe has really only cared about 1 stat, and that W's, an L's....Just get us to the dance....

Our offensive line is all under the age of 30, and it only makes sense that they should be better this year. One thing that is important to note, Hurst now has a year under his belt, and after the type of challenges he was thrown into face last year, he should be working hard this offseason. He went up against some of the best pass rushers in the NFL, as an un-drafted rookie. He knows what level he needs to get to. I think he still needs one more year to be completely ready, but I still think he will be a lot better this year. I mention this because our starting Tackles went down a few times during the season, and Hurst' role as our backup tackle is actually pretty important. We do have a solid backup guard in Urschel, though.

Hopefully Trestman's play calling is the same or more aggressive then Kubiak's, then this will be Joe's best year and finally hit the 5k mark. I just hope it's not the same old vanilla run, run, pass punt.

In order for us to have a great offense this season and seasons to come is

#1- keep Marc Trestman, we don't know how he will work out, but if he is a success, we MUST keep him, yeah Flacco somehow has the ability to remain successful with a constant change at OC, but that doesn't mean it's okay or good, we must have consistency at OC, or else we will never be able to get in a groove w/ the offensive players

#2- Relationship, we seen last year what a lack of communication and strong relationship between QB and pass-catcher can do to a offense, Joe and the receivers don't have to be BFF's but they do need to have an understanding between them.

Slow starts by the offense have been ongoing problems since Harbaugh took over as head coach. Even before last year, there have been several times when Flacco & the offense have disappeared for entire halves and more. I'm not sure if that is more Harbaugh's fault or Flacco's though.

Hurst and Urschel played a lot last year....I know Hurst started at least 3-4 games while Monroe was out. Urschel played mainly at guard for at least 1-2 games when Yanda went to tackle. They both did really well and should be bigger.stronger and more experienced.

Having seven good offensive lineman is the strength of the team.

I think it's the whole offense as a unit just not working together well. Play calling included. I was suprised that last year was our highest productive year offensively - bc I thought we could have done a lot better.

I am watching some of these rookie mini camp videos, and one thing that sticks out to me is Darren Waller. Some of the things he is saying has got me feeling really good about him. I really do have high hopes for that kid.

Wagner does have another year under his belt, and I hope he can get back to his old form quickly.  He said he was going to be ready to play when training camp starts, but I don't know where he will be with his form after sustaining a big time injury.  I think by the time the season starts he will be good to go, but if that injury slows him down at the beginning of training camp is yet to be seen.  He seems like a tough guy, though, and he really looks up to Yanda to model himself after, which is ideal.  As for Hurst, he did play a lot last year, unfortunately.  He started for us at RT in both playoff games, after Wagner went down, and he started for us at LT for 3 games, when Monroe went down.  That is why he is actually a pretty important piece for us.

The offense better improve. The Ravens did virtually nothing to address their most glaring defensive weakness, the secondary. Depending on Smith and Webb to play a full season is a real long shot. Arrington is not in their league. Melvin did well when thrown to the dogs, but Brady destroyed him. Banking your season on two lame corners doesn't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. And don't get me started on Elam. He flat out stinks.

I think Trestman will be a success here. People lambaste him for his "failure" in Chicago, but the fact is that, while QBR is not the be-all-end-all of judging a quarterback's success, it is a quick way of observing how a quarterback performed during the season. And Cutler had the two best quarterback ratings of his career under Trestman. Trestman also got Josh McCown paid by the Bucks. Joe is far and away a better quarterback than either of those two, especially in the decision-making department, so I expect even more success numbers-wise from Joe.

and Kendrick ? I don't know about you but I feel better about the secondary than I did last year. And I definitely wouldn't say they've done nothing- and nobody said they were done yet either.

what team could withstand 5 players going on injured reserve... all of which play one position.

if a team lost 5 receivers through the course of a season do you think they would make the playoffs and beat the Steelers for the first time on the road, in the playoffs.

I think were in a GREAT position considering we have a ton of people coming back from last year that got really good experience.

Add to the fact we got a starting safety and a good slot corner who can be a #2 when needed.

I don't see why people put so much emphasis on corner... We can afford to go another year without spending a first round pick on a corner....

Receiver was another story and we saw that when the Ravens got Maxx Williams and Breshad Perriman.

people keep harping on how bad our secondary was last year cuz we lost two 14 point leads. Well in order for us to have those two 14 point leads the Patriots secondary must have been as bad and they didn't have all the injuries. We have a lot of good players to choose from. I think we'll be ok even if we don't add more players.

We ran all over them, and Steve Smith actually outplayed Darrelle Revis.  Plus Flacco pretty much played lights out, other than the two interceptions that Torrey could have prevented. Our D line dominated the Pats.  They had less than 20 yards rushing.  We made them one dimensional on offense, and we still could not stop them. That is why our secondary has taken so much criticism.  We knew they were going to pass, and we still could not prevent it.  Can't get much more painful than that. With all of the pieces coming together right now, if J. Smith can stay somewhat healthy our secondary will be good to go this season.

Coach Harbaugh says he's the best quarterback in football. Now with the offense possibly being even better this year. I'm thinking about another super bowl. Oh well I can hope can't I. We just need to have less injuries. We could have done it last year without all the injuries.
