[News] Late For Work 5/15: Check Out Joe Flacco's Ninja Warrior Trainer

I think when Brady goes before the commissioner he better own up to what he did. He may have a better chance of reducing his punishment a little if he tells the story and says that he is very sorry and that it will never happen again. If he doesn't then he deserves what he gets.

Please tell me that's not Joe climbing up that beam?!?!?  If it is Joe, get the heck down man!!  One slip and we're a 5-11 team.

Honestly he will never get the punishment he deserves, although the balls would have not changed the outcome of the Colts beat down, the fact he cheated in such a huge game can't be over looked....And i think Goodell handling this is great, he is daring Brady to lie in his face, it's not so much the phone he wouldn't turn over, as it is the witnesses.....

Even if Brady did confess to his cheating and scandalous actions, he deserves the punishment in its entirety and no reduction.

True, but his only chance at reducing his punishment is confession and remorse.

Interesting that they feel Smith is the replacement to Upshaw, when at least I and others thought he was the replacement for McPhee as the third, situational pass rusher.

I can see the Ravens moving on from Upshaw, but then again, he's not going to cost anything near what McPhee would have cost to retain, because the market for a situational run stopping OLB just isn't that big. He's a situational player in a 3-4 as a run stopper only, and he's probably just a WLB in a 4-3, where again, he would probably come out on passing downs. Frankly, I'd suspect, barring a big season, then you could probably retain him for $2-3M per season I would think, which could be affordable depending on how next offseason shakes out.

saying Upshaw is situational shows a lack of knowledge of the Ravens defense... Dumervil is the situational player!! He thanked Upshaw on many many occasions because he does all the dirty work that allows Elvis to come in on passing situations and work the bull rush.

Upshaw is not dispensable. He is our swiss army knife... he laid THE BIGGEST hit I had ever seen, and it just so happened to be on Ben Roethlisberger.

Dumervil won't be around forever so how are we replacing Upshaw... who can play multiple positions. I'd say we are getting an heir replacement Dumervil who just so happens to mirror the play of Pernell McPhee.

Upshaw actually is the starter, Doom comes in on passing situations, and obviously they don't know our depth chart at OLBer, ever after drafting Smith we aren't very deep....Suggs, Doom, Upshaw, and Smith....any other OLBer is more of a ST player and a emergency fill in....

Ray Lewis is 40? How time flies, seems like a short while ago of him making all those plays and winning two Super Bowls. Here is to wishing Ray a Happy 40th Birthday and may his wishes come true. God bless Ray Lewis.

Had a mediator heard Brady's appeal, I think, almost certainly, there would have been a reduction of his suspension to two games from four. We still might. But, with Goodell hearing it, there probably is a better chance that the four games will stick. He, Goodell, seems pretty, shall we say, unhappy, with both Brady's and the Cheatriots' degree of non-cooperation in the investigation. For him to levy such a significant penalty against Robert Kraft's organization indicates that he is truly (I'm gonna be nice here) "upset". One has to believe their close friendship is a thing of the past. Not that Goodell didn't do the right thing, he did. But, really, the guy really was his buddy. And, as for Brady, it seems to me that Goodell is actually angry at him and it appears to me that he thinks that Brady really does consider himself "above" the rules and reach of anyone, and that he just feels himself to be too privileged. I really, really, hope all fines, suspensions, and penalties remain as they are. I've written before about how scandalous I believe the Cheatriots organization, Bill Belicheater, and cry baby Brady are. For once, just this once (because I never thought the penalty for their illegal taping of their upcoming opponent's practices was sufficient) I'd like to see them penalized more appropriately. We'll see.

Deflategate: 1) We have a 20,000 word rebuttal from the Patriots. 2)According to the Patriots, "deflate" refers to losing weight (their words not mine) and 3) Goodell will hear the case. I work in a high school and I've seen all of this before. The names are different but it's the same gig. Brady is the typical high school kid who screwed up, the Patriots are mom and Roger Goodell is the Vice Principal. I don't know how it works in other high schools but in mine, Brady is toast. (and no I'm not the Vice Principal)

If Courtney Upshaw is waved, he'll forever be known for that monster sack on Rothleisberger last season.

I flew up from Miami to see this game, and was 1st row in that endzone. I've never seen someone get laid out like that, absolutely amazing. Even better who it happened to.....

I hope Kraft keeps up his aggressive outlandish posturing to drive a permanent wedge between Kraft and Goodell. The best chance of Goodell holding firm with the warranted disciplinary actions is if Goodell is finally fed up Kraft's self righteous blustering. I hope Goodell's buddy buddy days are over with Kraft knowing that their personal relationship is beyond repair. Stick to your guns Goodell.

I think that we should keep authur brown and develop him more to become the eventual starter to replace smith, who is aging and i doubt has many more years left

Too late for that. At least, it Should be. He showed his True colors, who he really is, when he decided not to cooperate in the investigation. The time for honesty was during the investigation, not after deciding that he didn't like the penalty levied. Even with confession, one should be held accountable for their actions, and he received the penalty he did for the actions he Already  committed.

Yes and if he's been doing it his whole career he desevres a much worse punishment because all of his passing stats and even the patiots records are blemished.

I think that was always the plan, but I'm a bit concerned that Brown just doesn't seem to be progressing. I mean, he's kinda been "absent without leave". He rarely even dresses, which might seem to indicate that the coaches aren't seeing what they need to see and don't even consider him to be the first backup in case of, heaven forbid, an injury to C J or Smith. Shoot, he's not, apparently, even able to carve out a place for himself on STs. I don't like to think it, but he might just be one of Ozzie's not too frequent misses. A trade wouldn't surprise me, but, first, Ozzie'd need to find a suitor. Hope I'm wrong about him, but he's shown pretty much Nothing since he got here.

PFT is reporting that under the CBA, any criticism of the league, league officials or representatives of the league is a violation of the rules and subject to disciplinary action. All I can say is keep digging that hole deeper and deeper. The only place in the NFL the Patriots will be received with less than a rotten tomatoes welcome is in Boston. I also think that along with several GMS and owners, Bisciotti needs to speak up in support of the Commish. Kraft needs to know he is standing alone in this ongoing insanity. Also, the Patriots fired the offending staff. Nowhere else would a team fire someone who they are defending as being innocent. Nowhere.

I think we will resign Upshaw, because he doesn't have flashy sacks, he won't cost us a ton, and he will be entering his prime.....Doom is basically a pass rushing specialist, and if Upshaw ups his game, i expect more sacks....Arthur has a opportunity to be inline to replace D.Smith if he steps up, but i think DePriest will give him a run for his money...Also i think Brown needs to add more weight, 235 is a tad light for a ILBer, and i know Mosely came in at the same weight, but i bet he bulks up as well....JMO....

Back at ya Maniac. Your posts on Deflategate are excellent. I just hope Goodell doesn't cave in to the bully tactics and phony indignation.

I think Crockett will start over Maxx, at least for the beginning of the season. Crockett has been in the system for a year and knows what to look for and how to train plus hes a better blocker and a good pass catcher. I know Maxx was a 2nd round pick but Gilmore was a 3rd round pick with a yr under his belt.

LOL...that's well put. It's all so hilarious especially when over the years, we have had to watch Brady act like a spoiled brat whenever an opposing player only brushes his helmet and then he demands a flag from the officials. I've seen Flacco get absolutely rocked and no flag thrown. Joe just gets back up and goes on to the next play. Not Brady, he whines and screams for a flag whenever he gets hit, unless he's sacked, and even then he might whine for a flag. A competitor, yes, but a very poor sport. He tried to kick Ed Reed in the no-no region when he thought Reed was going to hit him on a run. Now that the spotlight is on him for breaking an NFL rule, he doesn't want to accept punishment. This is what coddling of superstars results in. Man up Brady, your competitive fire made you cross the line to try to gain an advantage by adjusting the football inflation in the hopes of minimizing turnovers. Maybe it wasn't necessary in the Colts game, but if you did it in the Ravens game the week prior or any other close games prior, then that may very well have affected the outcome and helped you get to the SuperBowl. That's why so many fans are upset.

why let Upshaw go.... he is not going to command big money on the open market... we could re-sign him for cheap and we would have Upshaw and ZSmith waiting in the wings... Dumerville and SUggs aren't getting any younger that's for sure! We could have both of their replacements in house... and it would be similar to having JJ (the run stopper) in Upshaw and Suggs the pass rusher in (ZSmith).... Upshaw is excellent against the run... he is a nasty physical presence which is what we want in our division and he is getting better.... yet under the radar enough that teams wont over pay him like (Art Jones and others that have left us)!

I would only say that deflate referring to losing weight is slightly more believable than Brady saying that he didn't know McNally.
