[News] Ravens Reach Agreement With Cornerback Kyle Arrington

Great signing. A weakness becomes a strength. This helps in so many ways. Like not using Elam as a slot corner lol. But seriously. Great signing and a big "I told you so" to the people that doubted Ozzie.

We had a really old roster when we won the superbowl a few years back. Superbowl or not, it was supposed to be a reloading/rebuilding offseason, which it was. We got a lot younger over the past two years. Now we have a young roster with key veterans and we will be ready to compete for the superbowl every year with Joe under center. The key piece to us not having a losing season the past 7 years and especially through the transition is Joe Flacco. He was a young QB in a veteran roster and now he is a veteran QB with a young roster. This is one of the most talented Ravens' roster because of Joe, the ravens did not have to hit or miss on QBs and could focus on other areas. This Kyle Arrington signing finishes up the puzzle to this roster. We now have every piece we need to compete and if you look at it in a 2-3 year window, we have most of our franchise players an key role players locked up. This means if everyone keeps developing and we add new and better pieces, the Ravens will be an even bigger force with Joe Cool at the helm.

:o Whoa. I didn't expect the ravens to get arrington. I thought some random team would outbid for him. I'm happy he's a raven.

I have to be honest... this team from a talent perspective looks like it could be just as talented as the 2011 squad that got billy cundiffed and lee evans'd out of a SB berth. The addition of arrington pushes guys like asa jackson and rashaan melvin back to the bench which in turn gives us some nice depth. 3 vet corners manning the secondary is much better than having a young guy in there learning on the fly. Heck, the 2011 squad had cary williams starting w/ lardarius webb and corey graham. Jimmy was off the bench (injured too) and was able to be eased into the rotation which helped his development.

If breshad perriman and maxx williams have good rookie seasons, this team could do what the 2011 team couldn't. I'm very excited about this. Hopefully injuries don't crush this team like they did last year.

The only position i have a concern with is strong safety. I believe that will hill will be fantastic manning the FS position w/ 1 year of experience on this defense under his belt. IDK what kendrick lewis, terrence brooks or matt elam will do. Terrence is coming off of a serious injury. I have my concerns with matt considering how terrible he was last season. Kendrick lewis is an unknown to me at this point because when i watched the texans last year, their secondary was terrible. However, that could be due to scheme. Bernard pollard was a part of one of the worst secondaries in the history of pro football before he came to the ravens. He came on board and the ravens secondary was really good.

Save for injuries, the SS position will ultimately decide if the ravens are in the SB or not this upcoming season. It's crazy because matt elam's 2 missed tackles vs. the pats were probably the difference in that game & contributed to the ravens not getting to the SB last season. I just hope the best man wins there. Go Ravens!

Will Hill?

the good part of signing Lewis, and Arrington is that they are 3 year deals, and not 1 year stop gap deals....Our secondary will be intact for at least the next few years.....And Smith extended, and Webb restructure should give us a very solid secondary...

And the OZ strikes again...Is it just me or do you guys smell a SUPER BOWL!!! I think this years 2ndary will be last seasons O-line, remember after last years draft everybody still had questions and was worried about the O-line and then this past season it was one if not our strongest position and one of the best in the NFL, I think the 2ndary will be just like that. Welcome to Baltimore Arrington...I look forward to seeing you shut down WR and winning a 2nd straight SB!

Just when you think it can't get any better the Wizard pulls off some magic like this! All I can say is it's a damn fine day to be a Ravens fan.

It always amazes me how this F.O. pulls together such strong off-seasons year in and year out. Every year I cringe (just like y'all do) when we watch our rookie crop from 4 years earlier leave for bigger paydays elsewhere. Those guys who get over payed and under produce for other teams... Every year I think to myself, "Dang Oz, you got your work cut out filling those holes." And every year there's a little part of me that worries that this year his magic might just wear out... And every year, right around this time I smile and wonder why that little part of me was ever worried to begin with.

It's official, we have solid depth at every position. And it feels damn good.

Patience first off he needs to pass the physical secondly while he is a good corner we have to keep in mind that his age is a factor for a 3yr deal unlike kendrick who is 26 secondly we have to keep in mind that this is in principal and finally while i am optimistic i like to proceed cautiously after we hit training camp ill feel more comfortable and on the plus side this is big year for the 2013 draft class and to establish a new identity in baltimore also fyi Kendrick lewis is a free safety so will hill will be competting with matt elam for the ss job

ew.

i know it helps, but i hate the Patriots brand of football, its hard for me to accept a career Patriot on the roster. Especially since they likely BS'd us out of a super bowl appearance a few months ago. Gonna have to do a lot to make me forget it

Not to be negative, but was Arrington the CB the Pats benched during the Super Bowl?

during the whole season. he barely played, thats why they cut him

The Pats had Reevis and Browner - Arrington is a ball player and a big step up from Asa..... with Jimmy, Webb, Arrington, Asa and Tray Walker... I think we have significantly upgraded.... still have to wonder if ozzie is done yet but I love the addition!

Arrington is a good corner but had some inconsistent play last season. NE used him in the slot quite a bit so, if the Ravens use him in a similar way, Webb should be unaffected. Asa Jackson is probably on the bubble. The main threats to Webb are Rashaan Melvin and Tray Walker. Both are big corners but Melvin is faster. Melvin can man up but he is best in zone and off man coverage. Walker is strongest in man coverage. Both tackle well and are good in run support however, Melvin is the more experienced and polished of the two. Either way, it appears Webb's days as a starter are coming to an end.

Our defense will be sick this year. Our DL is stout with Bwilliams, Carl Davis, Canty, KLM, Urban, Jernigan, Tyson, LGuy, Bikudi. Our LB's are even better with Elvis and Suggs, Upshaw and Zsmith, CJ, Dsmith, ABrown, McClellan, Trey Depriest and ZOrr.... and now the DBs are getting deeper with Jimmy and Webb, Arrington and Asa, TWalker, WHill, KLewis, Elam, Brooks , Jacobs and Levine. and NPerry that is very talents and very athletic defense.... Idk but if we are not a top 10 and probably a top 5 defense something is seriously wrong!

No one said he is a all world CB, but he is a SB winning, Playoff tested CB with 7 years under his belt, that means a lot when reading defenses, that's what he brings to our secondary.....Knowledge of the game can make up for a lot....

I think that Melvin and Jimmy can more of the outside and have Webb & Arrington to play in the slot especially big corners.

This may be off target but I have seen a lot about Elam lately. Everyone knows he struggled last year but I think we need to think about all the changes at CB during that time. It is hard enough to learn on the back end let alone deal with all the faces changing every game. He needed to step up and fell short but it was hard for everyone back there. Just a thought. Peace. PS: This was a great move by the way.

Elam will be given every opportunity to win the starting job, the ball is in his court....

I see Asa Jackson getting cut or traded. He has not been able to stay healthy, and had off field issues. With the young guys coming up including Melvin, or possibly picking some other guy as FA cuts are made, I cannot see him finding a roster spot despite how bad our depth was last year.

I will say don't sleep on Melvin, kid played great during the playoff run, and against Pit, i really feel this kid is going to be so much better with OTA's and a full camp....His size is just a great asset as well being 6-2.....

Ever since the offseason started I wasn't worried at all. I knew the Ravens would find pieces in the draft (which they clearly did) and now this? Just wow. This team will be scary good.
