Domestic violence charges, but I heard that he was defending his mother from his stepfather.

That's what I heard too. Good for him if that's the case.

I like the move. He probably would have lost out to Cardale, and he wasn't going to be a QB in the NFL anyways. It's probably a good decision to make the switch now, because you know teams were going to ask him during the pre-draft process.

Yeah pretty much, smart to get a year at the position and learn it while also showing what he can do over a college season so coaches have some film

ill admit im not too familiar on braxton miller. i watch alabama and aside from that i dont watch much college, i just start watching film when draft season comes around.

what are the odds of him being successful enough at wr to expect being drafted?

It's hard to say right now, but I imagine he's a guy that could sneak into the late rounds with any semblance that he's a capable WR.  You'd still be taking him with his athleticism in mind for the most part, but playing the position for a year and giving teams at least some tape to view might be enough to vault him into those late rounds so long as it's not a disaster.

Surprised to see him switch to WR. I think I read a year ago that a lot of teams viewed him as a potential safety.

I think his shoulder injuries ended the safety option.

He's had a lot of injuries already. Not sure he can hold up.

Miller's move is great for his draft stock.  Wasn't an NFL caliber QB and throw in his 2 shoulder injuries he was never going to get a shot at QB in the league.  Now he gets a full season to work at WR before getting to the pros.  He'll probably play a Percy Harvin-like role for Urban Meyer.

Ohio State DL Joey Bosa was just suspended for their season opener for a rules violation. Probably not a big deal stock wise, but still something to monitor considering how far Gregory dropped this year.

Gregory had weight issues on top of multiple drug violations. I'd be shocked if Bosa wasn't top 5 still

My top prospects that i know of so far who i think will fit well on what we neex to build on for the future are-

Kendal fuller-

Leonard floyd-

Carl lawson-

Lawson and floyd are exceptionaly interesting prospects, both are freaks of nature and can get after the qb and i think lawson fits more of what we want at an olb but floyd is a freak and kinda reminds me of aldon smith on the feild. Just needs to add more bulk to consistently play the 3-4 otherwise hes just a pass rush specialist. Also wondered how shaun oakman would fair at olb. Oh and i wouldnt mind cyrus jones from alabama (baltimore native who was a five star recruit)

Just kidding, its never too early, because its still the offseason and we still dont have enough to talk about.

now lets get to it! many said OLB was a top priority in this draft, i wasnt buying it, i couldnt think of any real value unless dupree fell to our first pick, the ZD smith pick was an excellent step in the right direction but i think we still have work to do in that department because our pass rush could fall off at any moment. one of my favorite guys so far is Leonard Floyd from georgia.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3aA2g5BlQA

you can see in this video(film, not highlights) that he is explosive and versatile, his primary role is pass rushing, and he doesnt excel in the other roles but he appears serviceable and with a stellar supporting cast like we have here in baltimore, he could be a great addition. he shows a few struggles in this film, he needs to add some weight and that is apparent here, but even with his missed plays i see immense talent and a very high ceiling, and at the very least i think he becomes one hell of a speed rusher. the snap anticipation and awareness looks good, and with another 10 lbs of muscle he is a perfect fit, he has the repertoire of pass rush moves, he can penetrate well, turn the corner, is flexible, great hand work, and he makes things happens all across the front seven, excellent stunt guy and would find himself right at home in our exotic blitz packages.

I really like Shilique Calhoun out of Michigan State - both as a prospect and as a need. He's got an incredible burst and he's well disciplined in the run game. He holds his area well and doesn't do anything stupid like whacking people over the head or hitting them out of bounds after a chase. He could use a few other moves but I like what he's already shown and there's no reason he couldn't improve. I really like him as a Robert Mathis type in a 3-4.

vhmopo3zrdpshik7qgpb.gif

And yes, I did like him before OLB became our big need. ^_^

ya know... i see his sack numbers, and his TFL's and watched a bit of film on him...

idk if im going crazy or not, but it appears that he is an ILB on tape.. why am i seeing him listed as an OLB?

i looked into calhoun and i wasnt overly impressed, he seems to be the last one off the snap quite often, snap anticipation is a huge thing for me and i love floyds anticipation, and his burst compliments that anticipation very well, calhoun is definitely solid, i see him as more the pro ready guy and floyd having a higher ceiling

Barring injury, something tells me Leonard Floyd will be on the Board long after Shalique Calhoun is gone.

We've going to need an edge rusher, a safety and likely a guard.

Edge rusher yes. Saftey probably not, and guard definently not. Ozzie will not let both KO and Yanda get away, and Urschel was proven to be a good player. He will retain one of the two. And Will Hill is also too talented of a player to let get away. And Tucker? Kicker's aren't expensive. Not worried about retaining him. Even then I do like Terrance Brooks, and Lewis(even though he's average) is not a bad player.

We're going to need edge rusher, WR, CB, MLB, and possibly a RB. No particular order.

So possible prospects for us,

WR

Micheal Thomas

Travin Dural

Demarcus Robinson

Pharoh Cooper(who I really like).

RB

DJ Foster

Byron Marshall

I'll post more later

Interesting you picked two running backs that have already made the switch to WR on their college teams.

Keivarae Russell from Notre Dame is a guy I'm really interested in. One of the best athletes in the nation and I'm sure he will be hungry after being suspended for a year.

Foster is a more natural running back in my eyes and will probably move back for the pros. He's honestly my top choice.

Its obvious that we need a safety in next years draft, which is why I would really like to see us picking up Jeremy Cash S from Duke. The guy looks really instinctual in his play. He could be for us what Elam was supposed to be. Really good at defending the run and pass from around the box from what I could see looking at his game against Miami.

I think safety is one of those positions that could be a dire need or solved come draft day. A lot hinges on Brooks, Elam, Hill and Lewis. Brooks and Lewis are honestly the two biggest x factors that'll influence our draft pick. Elam will be in his final year and we won't pass on a safety because of him. Hill will be a free agent after this year. Brooks and Lewis will determine whether we take a safety high or not.

Elam was a stud in college. Just really bad luck he didn't pan out for us.

I am willing to give him a chance after he comes back from his injury next year. He had a tough time adjusting to the NFL, but he seems like the kind of player who won't stop working until he figures things out. I just wouldn't like to go into next season banking on it.

I don't know if he'll be given a real chance to break out when you consider that Hill got a two year extension.

I can't agree with that. It was pretty clear his teammate at Florida Josh Evans would play sound footbsll and cover for Elam to just run around and try to make plays. Poor tackling was an issue then as well. The thing is there just aren't great safeties coming out of college right now. After QB it's the scarcest position in the NFL

I agree and I'm not sure if it's possible but it may be rarer to find a top-notch safety than it is to find a top-notch QB. Safeties just aren't coming out very strong from college. I really do support the idea of converting CBs to FS from college. I think they make some of the best safeties out there. I've always liked FS with return ability, or those who previously played WR or CB. I usually noticed they are better than other safeties out there. I'm not sure if it's their instincts, knowledge of routes, or simply just more experience and understanding of other positions, but those make the best players in my opinion.

I hope Brooks pans out as the guy, though. I'd love for him to be the guy back there. I'd kill for an Earl Thomas lite.
