Too Early 2016 Prospect Watch

Yeah I was only talking about ILBs, but I'd be more than happy to expand to safeties as well.

Does he have an early 2nd round projection?

hes a late first guy right now, i doubt he falls to our 2nd round pick, but it is definitely possible, maybe there is only one team in that range looking for a safety and they take some riser instead and he falls to us, ya never know.

i think ILB is a position that really just should be left to be addressed in the future, early in this draft is just not the time to do it, there are much more dire needs in so many other places and unless myles jack falls to our 2nd round pick(impossible) then we need to stick to immediately improving this team.

I agree. He passes the eye test and can move. I cant see why he wouldn't be there in round 2 but the safety position is in high demand

if a guy like darian thompson or desmond king or jeremy cash rises to become the 2nd safety on the board, it is possible, but he seems to be a consensus late first projection as of now.

Any word on this Scooby Wright. Looked like quite the player and we need horses on D. Possible 2nd rd maybe? This could also go in the double dip thread.

Wright is a very instinctive player that is always around the football and always giving great effort. However, he isn't going to test well athletically. Misses a lot of tackles. Does a lot of different stuff for their defense, but nothing great. I don't see him as the college football star he is at the next level, but he'll stick around because of his instincts and effort.

I really want OJ Howard. That guy is a match-up nightmare. I know we have a nice amount of talent at TE, but I can really see Ozzie taking Howard for the team. He's so fast. He reminds me a lot of Jimmy Graham, maybe better.

That guy just hasn't been used much in Alabama offense but match-up nightmare is a perfect description.

If we do this, we might have 4 tight ends on the field at once for most plays. That would be revolutionary. And arguably a better route considering the health of our receivers.

That would be Kubiak's dream offense.

Speaking of, I'm betting that the Broncos will take a long look at OJ Howard.

ya know, the more i think about it, the more i become upset... over the fact that we very well could take another 5-tech with our first top 10 pick since the billick era...

im not sure which players would have to be available for ozzie to pass up deforest buckner, but i would guess most of them would be taken by 8th, so if tunsil, bosa, one qb, hargreaves, stanley, and ramsey are taken, then i think its down to jack, smith, and buckner, and i dont even know if ozzie would value stanley or ramsey over a guy like buckner. i think where we sit in the draft we really could be considering him when were on the clock, he looks like an ozzie guy to me.

and to clarify, i like buckner, and if we were to switch to a 4-3 i would love to see what kind of penetration he can bring from both the inside and the out, but if we continue to call our base a 3-4 and gameplan accordingly, then obviously ill be very bummed out about taking a high pick on a position that we really need to stop piling on at.

Wasn't the same thing said about Malcolm Brown?

I agree and that's why I want him here despite our depth and talent already on the team. I really like our TE talent but I think it would be a mistake to pass on someone like Howard just because we have guys there. He's unique and we don't have anyone on this team like him, which is why I love him as a prospect for us. I'd take him as early as the late second but would much rather wait until the late third early fourth. Not sure he'll last that long but he'll be worth it and will justify the pick imo. Classic Ozzie Newsome pick.

He's unlike anything we have on this team. He's not another TE who is a good blocker and a capable receiver but he's a TE in a WR body.

yeah you're right, but there were also rumblings that pro scouts didn't think as highly of him, that just doesn't seem like it would be the case for Buckner

Finally got around to watching Carl Lawson, and this kid is insanity. The explosiveness is off the charts, and he's got a mean streak a mile long. He's ahead of Ogbah as a prospect for me, assuming a clean bill of health. He is also my favorite pass rusher based on my (rather cursory) study of this class.

I didn't get to watch every play (and will probably do so later on), but outside a couple of plays, every time I looked Ogbah got manhandled by Tunsil today.

he's been injured often but mostly freak injuries. I can't understand his stock, if a team took him top 10 I would applaud them. He's my personal favorite player this year

Speaking of which, Carl Lawson handled Laremy Tunsil. Drew double teams for most of the game, and demolishes the offense when they choose not to. I love this kid.

I think I am with you here. Man oh man is he a blast to watch. Here is my dream first two rounds:

Round 1: Carl Lawson

Round 2: Desmond King

Hello Ravens Defense. We've missed you.

the funny part is... That would be a revamped defense right there, that would bring our defense in the conversation for top in the league if we are healthy, and that draft would get relentlessly bashed by the media lol

Thus proving the media knows nothing. We have a top 15 offense this year with 5 of our original 6 receivers on IR. All those kids (and one angry adult) can play too. If we can stay healthy, we are going to make some waves in 2016.

Admittedly we have the 10th ranked defense right now, but against subpar people and way too little too late. Plus our defense is getting old at key spots like pass rush.

I haven't given Lawson a thorough look yet (planning to do it Ozzie-style where I sit down and focus on one position at a time between now and probably the combine) but I've heard he made Tunsil struggle - the same Tunsil that handled Myles Garrett on his first game back from injury. Impressive stuff, and if he checks out it sounds like he could be in the picture for our pick at 7.

To be fair, I think the media's pretty generous with our draft grades for the most part (not counting WalterFootball when Ozzie drafts like he doesn't read WF's rumour mill), almost to the point of giving us the benefit of the doubt because of our past succcesses.

Hopefully he'll be there even if we pull a Ravens move and win at Cincinnati. He did indeed put a whupping on Tunsil. He's my most fun prospect to watch since Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack.

I'll give you that lol but a first 2 rounds like that would have the analysts smashing their keyboards trying to post the first Ozzie bashing blog because they took less glamorous prospects. Like when Jerry was bashed for taking travis Frederick, dude is a bona fide stud now and has lived up to that draft stock, I'd see that kinda draft in the same light

Drooling over the thought of Treadwell and Joe playing together. Even if SSS comes back we need to jump on this opportunity to add a premiere playmaker to the offense. Right now there's not many players I would take over Treadwell if he's available when we pick. Ramsey/VH3 falling would be intriguing but I think we can make some cap friendly moves to bolster the defense in FA and use some mid round picks there.

If we nab Treadwell...then you consider the possibility of Perriman being a stud and Aiken improving a lot this year, Gillmore and Maxx, Forsett and Buck, that is a stacked offense. The OL will still need some re-shuffling but getting a guy like Treadwell who could easily be the next Dez Bryant/Alshon Jeffery is going to take this team to new heights. The true potential of Joe Flacco will finally be unleashed with that stable of weapons.

I really do like Treadwell a lot. Even more so than his receiving gifts, I love the way he blocks. He's the best blocking wide receiver I've seen in the draft. He's tough as nails. And he is also not a diva. He's as blue collar as they come. But with all that said, my man crush on Carl Lawson is still winning out. But hey, if we end up with Treadwell and King, or Treadwell and Yannick, I'm still decently happy.

How did treadwell look today?

Laquon Treadwell: 6 catches, 71 yds, 3 TD

45 passing yards.

Given how bad everyone else has been I wouldn't mind taking him.

Dudes got Odell hands with Jerry Rice size.
