I love Shon Coleman. I think he might be my #3 LT. He has one significant downside though and that would be that he is a bit older after losing a couple seasons at auburn fighting cancer. But he seems dominant at either Right or Left Tackle.

Really? I keep hearing good things on Shaq. I personally haven't watched him. He's the one from Clemson, right? I know Shaq is the one from Clemson, but these two get me confused so I want to make sure we're talking about the same guy.

yea shaq is the one from clemson, hes a big strong beast but he doesnt not get to the qb very well, he lines up almost exclusively in a 3 point stance, his jump off the snap is decent but nothing impressive, and he can physically bully blockers and force the issue at the point of attack but he isnt gonna be getting many sacks because he lacks agility, length, and burst. one thing ill give him though is he has a lightning quick spin move, but he doesnt always seem to know when to use it. im just seeing lots of first round grades on him and i think its the clemson hype, i just dont see it, looks like another upshaw, but then again he could be another dumervil with his short stockiness and bullrushing, i just dont see it though

So what is the deal on Carl Lawson? He's really grown on me and I don't see any decent grades on him. He looks like a real 3-4olb, standup, 3point, burst off the snap, shedding, pursuit, athletic and physical, prototype build, I don't get why he is getting no Buzz

He looks like he could be a very good edge player to me. When him an Tunsil were both true freshman in the SEC, Lawson was the only player to beat Tunsil for a sack. Since he is only a redshirt sophomore who redshirted for a torn ACL and missed time with a hip injury this year, I bet he doesn't declare, hence the lack of buzz.

yeah im understanding now that i couldnt distinguish between him and shaq and thought they both were declaring and both were getting early round buzz.

i really like carl lawsons film though, much better than shaqs, he looks like a more natural 3-4OLB, he reminds me of an ahmad brooks with a better tackle-beating ability in the pass rush

I love Lawson, go watch him vs. Tunsil earlier this year

People, I think, aren't talking about him because he's probably going to stay at Auburn. He's been dealing with injuries and staying could really help his stock

RB James Conner is definitely not coming out. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is quoted as saying "we are going to fight this thing and we are going to beat it. I will play football again. I realized that fear is a choice. I choose not to fear cancer. I choose to fight it and I will win."

Head coach Pat Narduzzi said "Cancer started the fight, James is going to finish it."

I can't remember what thread his suspension was mentioned in, but Demarcus Robinson is back playing this week so his suspension can't have been for something that bad. Maybe missing curfew or being late to training or something.

That Iowa/MSU game will show some nice tape for Desmond King and Shilique Calhoun. We could use either one :)

Calhoun will bust. He has the slowest first step I've ever seen. How he's ever gotten a sack is beyond me lol

He burst off the line pretty quick on his FF. The Iowa LT was struggling to handle him much of the game. Maybe you were looking at #98? (Calhoun is 89). I don't think I've ever seen him be slow tbh, and I've watched some MSU this year and last

I think he'll be a good all-around player. He may not get you double-digit sacks, but I think he will be decent at getting pressure and setting the edge. I like him as a decent Suggs replacement in that regard--he can play any down. Would love to get him in the 2nd, though he probably goes late first.

Calhoun isn't terrible, but his first snap is not good. He's probably average to below-average. He is a really smart football player, though, and he times the snap like a beast. He reads the QB well. That's something he does effectively. He's just not extremely athletic. He's a bit limited there. He also uses his hands really well.

My opinion of Calhoun has been up and down for a little while now. I feel like he's the kind of guy who can get a decent amount of pressure and do perfectly fine at replacing Upshaw as a force against the run. His lack of pass rush moves does worry me (though he put on a killer swim move against an Iowa player last year, which made me take notice), but I feel like he's the kind of guy who'll never make you swear at the TV for committing a really unnecessary penalty or doing something stupid like overcommitting one way and opening up a running lane for a big gain.

If I had to give him a grade today, I'd lump him in with a bunch of other guys who I'd expect to go late in the first but has a decent chance of falling to our second-rounder. If that makes sense.

I was just typing up my reply as you said all this, but obviously I agree especially with the bolded bit. He doesn't strike me as the type who'll carve out a HoF career for making a string of splash plays, but I think he'd help me retain my hair colour and tbh that excites me too.

no it was Calhoun lol. He's got great pass rush moves, he may be the best I this class in terms of actually engaging the OT and beating him with a wide range of techniques, but I don't think he can get away with that in the NFL without getting the occasional advantage on the jump. Tackles are just not gonna get beat if they aren't playing on their heels to protect the bend, I don't see Calhoun bringing that threat. If he can work on his game and become strong against the run I could see him as a long term decent player, he has grown man strength and is good at shedding and tackling In traffic, but I think he lacks the first step to be a real nfl level threat in the pass rush. I actually think he could pack on some weight and play a 5technique rusher because he appears too have more of a 2gap skill set

Always a plus

I've learned not to take that for granted after our secondary play during the past two seasons.

I've watched a couple of games and I'm just not impressed. Pass rush moves doesn't throw me away from a prospect honestly, 90% of edge rushers don't even have them. I am concerned with the leverage battle though. It seems that when he goes up against those big linemen, he just get's caught. I've seem him get man-handled on some plays. Also, you would hope that someone of that build can just explode through the LOS but it's not what you see. His first step isn't the best in the world tbh.

I do think he would be a good pick in the 3rd round and I will admit fits the bill of what we need. We are in dire need of athleticism at OLB. This is a pretty slow team. However, I'm just not a fan honestly.

Anyone else a fan of Marcus Maye? I'll admit I haven't watched too much of him but everytime I watched VH3 tape Maye always jumped out, he may not be the FS were looking for but could be a solid addition to our secondary.

Do we have a chance at Tunsil or Stanley again. If we have a chance at either I honestly think we take them. We need depth on the line badly, and James Hurst should never be allowed to wear a ravens uniform again.

Don't be surprised if we take a few olinemen high in this draft

I think even if we win another one we'll still have a shot at Sanley, though a lot can still change between now and the draft (for all we know Stanley might absolutely blank Bosa in the Fiesta Bowl).

I think the second LT taken in the draft will be in the 5-10 pick range. So there is still a decent shot at one of them. I wouldn't mind spending the first two picks on the o-line. Stanley/Tunsil in the first and Dan Voltz in the second.

Voltz's Travis Frederick comparisons excite me. Voltz would be nice, or our boy from Missouri in the early 4th.

I am really in love with Pharoh Cooper. He hasn't taken off like I thought he would but he has been great considering his circumstances. SC has been shuffling between 3 quarterbacks and Pharoh has gotten the short end of the stick because of it. It also doesn't help that he is the only offensive weapon they have. The point out of all of that is that I would not mind picking him up with a 4th or even a 3rd.
