Too Early 2016 Prospect Watch

992 posts in this topic

right now hes typically projected early 2nd, sandwiched between calhoun and ogbah, but he very well could end up a late first

I def. think he ends up in the 1st round. Hes great in any class and this is a weak edge rusher class.

i dont agree that its a weak edge rusher class, its just not very top heavy. ogbah, nassib, calhoun, fields, ngakoue, really like all these guys and theyre all late first/early 2nd projections, same can be said for the wr class, not top heavy but tons of talent and guys that look nfl ready in the mid first all the way to the 3rd.

what would you guys consider the strongest position group this year? i think id have to give it to ILB or OL

I think this is a good CB class, but I think its fairly balanced. There's not one position where I can say, "Oh yeah this is a strong WR, TE, OLB, ect.". I honestly do agree, OL, and ILB are fairly strong, but defensive backs stand out to me.

That's my problem, I can't really say that I would be confident in our pass rush if we don't come away with Ogbah or Nassib. I don't believe we'll pick any edge in the top ten and in the bottom of the first that's when you can justify selecting a guy like Nassib or Ogbah.

One guy I'm really starting to like though is Shaq Lawson. He's really impressive, he just seems to be everywhere. He was giving Ronnie Stanley fits when Clemson played Notre Dame. He can rush the passer and defend the run. He's honestly became my favorite Edge in this draft. He's powerful and dauntingly quick. I really think he can be a beast in the next level.

I actually think the Ravens will be spoiled for choice in the early 2nd. At least a couple good edge guys should fall to that spot, one of the better receivers, or possibly a good offensive lineman. Maybe even Myles Jack, depending on how things play out. I think we'll be able to get a really good player as a position of need.

i almost hope jack isnt available in the 2nd, just because you absolutely cant pass that up, and i know it would be by far the best talent, but i would hate seeing us pass up some of the other guys that could potentially be there like nassib/ogbah/ifedi. would still be by far the BPA though.

Definitely. I had him on my radar since that Seminoles game last year. Reminds me so much of Suggs. I think he is capable of being 3 down OLB in our 34. I like that he continues to improve every year.

Incidentally, watching Ogbah in Texas Tech game I noticed TT left tackle Le'Raven Clark - he might be interesting guy to look at on day 2. Apparently started at RG and played well, then moved to LT exclusively. Needs to lower his stance little bit and probably get little stronger but very good in pass protection. Huge name value as well.

not really, hes been a favorite of mine for a while and ive seen his name floating around quite a bit.

someone said earlier that we wont find a suggs replacement this year, but i absolutely see a very similar player in ogbah, extreemely high character, natural leader, great motor, high iq, good decision making on field, and he is just the prototype OLB for us across the board, has all the size and athleticism and strength that we look for and still has tons of room to grow considering he just began playing recently and already looks well developed for his lack of experience

I love Ogbah and I'm on record saying that I see Suggs in him. He plays almost exactly like Suggs. It's actually scary.

yep, first thought when i saw him, he is quite literally the most similar thing to suggs we have ever seen. if he played for ASU i swear we wouldnt be able to tell a difference

That's what I'm most excited about getting to pick so high, is seeing Ozzie get us guys with first round talent. Unless we get to 7 wins and pick outside the top ten I still think we're going to get a stud, outside top 5 I don't see a guy like Jack, but maybe Nassib, or someone along those lines.

Also agree that Deon Bush out of Miami seems like a very intriguing prospect

Shaq Lawson has completely won me over. I would be HYPED if we got him. I don't know if he already has a bandwagon or if I should start one. I really think he's great.

He's next on my list.

If we didn't grab a pass rusher in the first 2 rounds I like Noah spence a lot, I like what I saw from his old Ohio tape, had some issues with party drugs at Ohio and was arrested for public intoxication after transferring to EKU so he has some red flags, but if he made it to the 3rd round I'd take a chance on him. As far as what I saw on tape he's a rocket off the line, rushes kinda recklessly which leads to him running himself out of the play sometimes, and got pushed off the line in the run game more than a few times, but he would add much needed athleticism to our defense.

Yeah man, I might have to start a bandwagon. I really think hes worth the 1st and if you haven't watch him yet then I truly recommend it.

While the Ravens could definitely use some help at the skill positions, I wouldn't mind the team using the two of the first three picks to improve our play at the line of scrimmage (A DL that can get interior pressure, well rounded edge rusher, OT, and/or C). If we can go back to dominating the line of scrimmage it would take a lot of pressure off of the the skill players.

Honestly, I have come to this conclusion.

I don't care who it is we get. I want a play-maker on defense, whether its at CB, FS, OLB, or even DE. I want someone who can make a play whenever we need one. Our biggest need is at play maker. We really need a difference maker on this defense. Very badly.

I've been saying this for weeks now. Welcome to the Playmaker bandwagon.

I don't think I could care any less about specific positions as I do leadership, impact, energy, and the ability to make plays happen, whether directly or indirectly.

That is how I feel as well. When I look at this team, there is not one player that I look at and dread playing.

This is how I feel, I could care less about the position as of now, I just want a playmaker. Whether it’s on offense or defense for that matter.

I haven't seen this name, at all, but if the Ravens land in the top 10 and trade back, but want a defensive playmaker, DeForest Buckner could be a real good player and fit

He's one of my favorite players this year, it's not really a position of need but he looks like a beast. I really think he compares to Watt (coming out of college of course) I would not be disappointed if we picked him up.

I liked Buckner a lot last year and seemed like he'd be a Ravens type pick, but I've heard hes fallen off a bit and has been more just a run stuffer. However I have not seen him this season yet just going off what others have said. Anyone else seen that?

I agree, although I hope that isn't an ILB. If we could somehow come away with one of Bosa, Hargreaves, Nkemdiche or Ramsey I'd be so happy. As of now those are my top four guys in that order.

I think he's always been a very strong run stuffer who can play too high and needs refinement as a pass rusher

I haven't seen it in the 2015 tape I've watched of him, he has 7 sacks already this year which is more than he had all of last season if I'm not mistaken, he is also PFFs top rated interior defender(for what that's worth) with a ton of QB pressures. Although he didn't do great against Conklin this year.

Buckner is top notch at run defense right now but raw as a pass rusher. Tremendous size and is going to test very well athletically. Another athletic freak DL from Oregon. Doesn't help him that their defense doesn't have much of a supporting cast around him. Have to remember that Dion Jordan and Arik Armstead didn't really put up great numbers in that defense. I have him in the mid-first right now.

Bosa just got triple teamed, literally. It wasn't an accident, it was schemed. Guard pulled to help the tackle and the running back rushed straight up to help as well. It was a chip, they encircled him.

Don't think I've ever seen that before

He's an exceptionally dangerous player.

i believe bosa is the best player in this draft. Also if we lose vs the jaguars i only see 2 more wins which would put us in a position for bosa. The lions need a LT.

I wasn't really a fan of Jordan and to be honest I despised armstead as a first round prospect. I think Buckner is 10x better than Armstead, if Buckner has a decent combine (which I suspect he will) I see him as a top 15 lock.
