[News] Undrafted Rookies Separate Quickly

If Carter gets a roster spot, the team is going to have to either keep 7 WRs or cut someone between Marlon, Kamar, Camp, and Waller. That's going to be a tough decision.

Digging a little deeper here, you've got to think Blaine Clausell or Darryl Baldwin have a shot at a backup OT position. Right now we've got James Hurst and Jah Reid backing up Monroe and Wagner (both of whom missed significant playing time last season). One of those guys could definitely unseat Reid if they have a good camp.

These are the WR I think will make the cut: SSS, Perriman, Brown, Campanaro, Aiken, Waller, and Carter.

They usually keep 6 or 7 WRs, with the 7th being there as a ST spot.  But you're also forgetting about Jeremy Butler from last year, who's coming back (I think he was either PS or IR) and showed well in the pre-season.  I think Carter goes to the PS, following in the footsteps of previous UDFA WR standouts for the Ravens.

Yes, it seems like it may come down to Carter vs Camp. With the secondary woes of last year, I don't see the Ravens keeping 7 WRs. The 6 to me are - SSS, Perriman, Marlon, Aiken, Waller and then a choice between Camp/Carter with Butler on the outside looking in. Love Camp's heart and toughness but hard to choose that over Carter's speed and quickness.

Also, there's always the pre-season "injury" that puts a guy on IR

I think they are all gone. The Ravens usually keep 8 O-linemen. With the starting 5 plus Urschel, Hurst & Jensen. You also have to factor in Quadzilla. I think it comes down to keeping 1 of Jensen, Quadzilla, Baldwin, Jah Reid, Clausell or Easton

I like where things are headed. Man, if the caps and wiz can find a way to close things out it could set up to be a very good sports year for the DMV. Ravens look like the class of the AFC North, not to mention Maryland bball is likely to be ranked preseason #1 with the signing of the Duke kid. This year will bring a lot of excitement

DePriest won't make it, he's too slow overall.

same thing was said about a guy named Suggs and look how that turned out  :D

I think Camp was too good in the slot last year when he was actually on the field to cut. He didn't have many catches, but he showed the quickness to get separation, great hands, and a knack for moving the chains, as he caught a couple 3rd and long conversions in the game where he got injured. A guy who can get open in the middle of the field and move the chains could be a huge complement to the potential playmaking ability of Perriman on the outside. We may not want to keep 2 slot receivers though, but Carter will probably be mostly a punt returner this year. I think the most likely scenario is either Carter getting cut or someone getting stashed on IR.

Well the article began well enough but I lost interest once you said "[Harbs] wasn't going to name any players that caught his eye,.." ,...

... which, if he did say something, is usually when my eyes glaze over at the hyperbole!  <_<

Anyway, thankfully, that didn't happen but I'd already cites Nick Perry and Trey DePriest as guys to watch,...

Sorry, but, DeAndre Carter, with that description, sounds like LaQuan 2.0 !!!  :oldwiseman:

Don't bother to neg,... let's just see what happens when the pads got on!  :lol3:

Carter very intriguing indeed. Looks like the Coach may have found his punt returner.

Sorry, I see LaQuan Williams redeux,...

I had DePriest, Perry, Wilson, Clausell, and Worthy making the team....

WOW ...  Would like to know who your bubble players are that are not going to make the team.

Only spots I see open are on the PS but I'll admit....one UDFA will probably make the 53.

DeAndre Carter has the best chance to make the team out of the UDFA because he is not only impressing our coaches, but he is very fast and could be our kick and punt returner next season. The only fill that I think we have not filled is the PR/KR spot, and Carter might be that guy.

I continue to wonder about the kr spot and have yet to hear who's looking good for that. Camp looked good as a slot wr and pr IMO

DePriest because our depth at ILBer isn't overwhelming, Perry becaUse he is a big safety that could push the safeties we have on the roster, Worthy because we all know we are looking for a slot WR who will eventually take over Smith spot next year, and he is a bigger WR, and Clausell simply because he is just a large human being, and Monroe hasn't impressed me....

I think they are planning to move smitty to the slot some more which might spell doom for camp

I can definitely see Camp as a PR, but he does not have the kind of game breaking speed to be a KR.  I could definitely see Carter being that guy, or maybe even Buck Allen because of his amazing vision.

Maybe it is the high number of picks this year, the high number of offensive guys picked, or the quality of the UFA but I get the feeling the cuts this year are going to be very tough.

The Ravens should really take a look at CB Kyle Arrington. Patriots released him today. He has been their starting slot CB for the past five years. He is only 28. They wanted him to take a pay cut. He is only a 3 mil cap hit this year, plus he would be a cap casualty. We can afford him, and he would be good insurance to our CB core. Just a thought.

I like the underdog. Because if they make it you know they have heart and drive. Just look at Forsett delt rough hand after rough hand but never gave up guy is just awesome.

I just love the talent the UDFA have, they are often over looked due to the smaller school, or they might not have the best 40 times, but on the field, they can ball in a system that fit their talents.....And such a thin line between a drafted player, and Undrafted today, the athletes today are just so close....

It's going to be so sweet watching these guys stomping the Patriots in the division round at M&T this year..! That's if the Pats even make the playoffs.

I really like our safety situation with Nick Perry in the Mix, CB wise Arrington would make sense if it were to be more than a 1 year deal....But i'm also good with Melvin, and Asa...
