[News] Rookie Receiver Darren Waller Moves Well For A Big Man

39 posts in this topic

I was one of a few in this forum who wanted the Ravens to draft Dorial Green Beckham early in the draft. Looks like the scouts found another receiver with the same measurables in Waller. I'm hoping he can be that guy. I like the problem that we're seeing with our receivers, TOO MUCH TALENT.

he's actually a better athlete the DGB.

we may find Waller is more suited to the #1 receiver position after he hones his skills. If Perriman also pans out, his 4.25 speed with Wallers size and catch radius could provide us some skilled receivers for many years. It would be nice just once to have receivers like Marshal and Jeffries or AJ Green and Marlon Jones. To be able to have two receivers who both can break 1000 yards would be amazing.

Let this kid start 1st team offense with Joe Flacco. Steve Smith can have some reps but we all know what he could do let Perriman and Waller start during preseason they could be both big weapons for Joe.

I am getting pretty excited for all the offensive weapons compiled in this draft. It is going to be tough to let any of the WR or TEs go come cut day.

I'm excited to see what the undrafted Cam Worthy brings to this offense. Ravens got him at a steal because of his foot, but the dude is big time.

with that size and speed he should be able to produce as a red zone target or to set up some mismatches... hope he isn't another Tommy Streeter.

I've been crushing with Perriman, Williams and Allen with updated Madden rosters. Waller is raw but we can send him on fly routes when the defense is playing one safety over the top... Had a sick bomb td with him from 50 yards out.

so much talent at wr and te. what a good problem to have. I can see ravens use Waller in the red zone with Marlon brown and williams in that package.

Team is definitely loaded with potential and everything sounds good from reports (even thou it's rare to hear anything negative from coaches)... I'm very excited to see us play this year

If he isn't ready, i see him hitting IR, as i don't see this kid getting through the waiver wire, that's if he needs a year to polish his route running and all....6'6 4.40 speed is pretty rare...

Other than the Waller injury, nothing but good news coming from mini camp and I love it. keep up the good work fellas and stay healthy, can't wait to see you guys on the field.

Heard of the UDFA cornerback that broke his leg but what happened to Waller?

could be a find. you have to wonder what he would or could have done in a more balanced or pro style offense in college. what i like about him is he does not have the build of a tooth pick. this kid is big and strong. hopefully he is coachable and can improve on his technique

I didn't see anything impressive out of him at GT, but then he wasn't asked to do much as a receiver anyway. I'm interested to see what he looks like in preseason.

"I'm not shocked about the lack of serious effort to get veteran WRs. It's a deep draft and deep down all of us fans know that for all the hooplah over the top prospects with their flashy youtube highlight videos every year a no-named guy gets picked on the 2nd or 3rd day and couple of years from now our opponents defense will have to gameplan around his abilities.

Just take 2 guys for example. Darren Waller 6'6" 238 lbs projected to go in the 5th or 6th round. He's the biggest reciever in the draft, a stand-up guy from Georgia Tech that's been mentored by Demriyus Thomas and Calvin Johnson."

The other guy was Ty Montgomery btw. Green bay caved and took him in the 3rd round.

The sad part was that the QB that was throwing to him in college was more RB/CB/WR type player then actual QB. Someone with Flacco's status and ability to really get the ball to his Wr's with touch and precision will really bring out the best in Waller. Waller Brown Williams Breshad = young stable of studs. You add in Boyle and Worthy and Flacco has more than enough weapons to not just get past 4k yards but will rip defenses apart this year. The avg DB in the AFC North is 5'11-6ft. Will Waller taking away teams tallest DB, you leave some advantages for Brown, Brashad, and even SSS...

Waller at 6'-6" vs the Steelers 2nd round CB at 5'-8" should be interesting.

i had my reservations about waller, and in the pre-draft process i wasnt a big fan because he appeared stiff in his film, but that little snap preview in that video... looks like i misjudged, this dude really does move well for his size, we could have ourselves a steal if he can move like that with the pads on and if he can grasp the learning curve

Bill Polian said Waller was a fantastic pick, and that he is the kind of guy that could become a star if developed correctly. The reason he fell to us is because he is so raw and didn't see a lot of action in college. Get to work Bobby Engram.

I am not going to expect Waller to be ready by week 1, but I am going to expect us to find a way to keep him this year to develop. I think this guy could potentially be a starting WR on the other side of Perriman.

Obviously I have not been to camp but I am telling the truth when I say I am very excited with this years group of new guys both Drafted and undrafted rookies. This big guy Waller could be a red-zone target for sure.  I just cant wait to watch these guys this pre-season and the ones who make it this season. This could be a very hard year for Harbs and his staff to get the roster down to 53 and a practice squad but thats a good thing for the Ravens.

Dont sleep on this kid waller, he and Perriman are gonna bs studs for us. These are our number one and number two receivers. Bobby Engram will make Perriman and Waller into a very dangerous combo. mark my word. Ive never been more excited about our offence.

6-6 with 4.4 speed. Could be the steal of the draft. Ravens will find a spot for this guy if he's already impressing the coaches.
