2015 Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread

I don't know how much Manning's "injury"(the one that came out after he lost to the Colts in the playoffs just in case you were wondering) really affected him last year, his play really dropped off.

I heard strained quad.

Manning had neck surgery in 2011.  In 2014 he said his arm strength still wasn't back to what is was before the surgery.

Yea being 2-3 years older has nothing to do with that. He clearly doesn't have adequate arm strength to throw the ball deep, fit it into tight windows and/or play QB at a high level

Correlation does not equal causation

For any idiot who mentions his age, I will throw Brees, and Brady back at you

Not necessarily his age but how about the al dente spaghetti hanging off his shoulder?

It was boom but turned bust when #22 got injured

I had quite a few injuries that were very unfortunate because of players playing at a very high level

I am shocked I got a shot at OBJ this late especially when some of the other rookies were going. Ecstatic to get one of the best WRs in the game!

Nice, was hoping he'd drop to my next pick. Surprised he was the first WR taken, though he does deserve it.

Got him in the 6th round last year and people thought I was crazy.

Good group of WRs this year too will be interesting to see where they end up going...I know there are some I would love to see paired with OBJ...However, at some point I will need a QB to get it their way

I was hoping either of the last two prospects would've fallen to me. Houston was arguably my favorite prospect in his draft class and I loved Beckham when he was coming out. If he were healthy for the entire 2014 campaign, he would've been arguably the best WR in the league. It's scary to think that the pick comes with upside.

No surprised at all by ravensdan's pick.

OBJ was the other player I was really interested to see where they landed.  I wouldn't build my team around a WR, but he is obviously very talented.

Houston is a steal.

I was wondering when Odell would go... Great pick. Wouldn't argue taking him in the top 10

Wow... Lot of love for ODB.. Surprised he went here but then again seems like a good spot for the first WR to go

Love for him only grew around here. I'm not sure how was that at all possible.

He's not going to have the greatest QB to throw to him, though.

Yeah, I love him (great production, great upside, minimal injury concerns, and he's like half Peyton's age) but I dunno about him as a cornerstone piece.

When gabefergy took OBJ at 191 last year, the +/- on the post was -2.

Now at 29 overall, the pick is at +5 and counting.

And because I have too much time spare, the discussion about that pick begins on this page:

http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/58386-draft-a-franchise-discussion/page-170

Not much discussion really, approvals all around. Unless it continues 3 pages later, I have no idea how it ended being -2.

Looks like burger joints around the country were discussed more.

They also had two kicks returned for TDs.

he also threw a pick 6 and then threw an overtime pick on their side of the field by breaking the cardinal rule of all qb's in nfl history.

the one year he did win the superbowl he actually performed pretty much below average and the colts defense somehow was freaking insane in that SB run.

peytons regular season accomplishments really need to start being overlooked a bit in favor of his postseason meltdowns

Yeah I saw that. One heck of a steal... Who was your QB?

Don't worry; I'll take him.

I told you you wanted to get among it. :P

Great pick in Houston, still surprised a certain player is available though

Yeah. He won't get past these two picks with Baltimoreflacco

I am a little worried with the QB also but given my position I am by no means upset with choosing him over the QBs there. On the plus Eli on a ok year was enough for Beckham to storm the league in every game he played so he may be good enough to make a QB look a little better. I do believe he almost single handedly saved Coughlin his job with the love fest circulating around him. Then again the Giants are all about consistency at the HC position.

Agreed that I would have preferred others (mainly one of those QBs taken early) but again given my spot to pick and who was on the board I see his impact being the same or more than some of the defenders left and likely more game changing than any of the QBs left. I do hate the idea of WR being a cornerstone of a team but luckily for those of us at the end of the first we basically can pick up two cornerstone type players
