[News] Steve Smith Gives Rookies A Lesson On Day 1

27 posts in this topic

Steve Smith was such an underrated signing. The fire he has and hopefully shares is priceless. Off topic but he's got such a baby face for being in the league that long  lol

OMG I love SSR!! He brings so much leadership and wisdom to our team. I hope the Rookie's are smart enough to learn from one of the great WR's from this generation.

saw a little of the practice on vid. Perriman was being guarded by Walker. They were both at full speed and Perriman was pulling away from Walker like Walker was wearing swim fins. Don't know if that was a testament to Perrimans speed or not but it sure looked like it.

Too bad Smith spent all those years in Carolina where he didn't get the appreciation he would have had in B-more.

Hoping some guys on D can step up and become role models/leaders for the young guys.

I think Jimmy is going to step into that leadership role even more now that we locked him up long term. I also think Webb is an underrated leader, a lot of the young guys, especially the db's look up to him. Then you have the future leader of the entire defense in CJ, I think he's going to mature into that leadership role really well in the next couple years.

That dude shoulda been a Raven all along. Go take those lunchboxes, Steve!

I feel the same way, if you want to talk about "Play Like A Raven" SSS is the poster boy for that motto. I've loved every minute he's been here and my only regret is that we will only have him for a few seasons. Too bad him and Boldin never got to play together here, that would've been special.

Steve Smith rocks! Perriman highlights look great! I know they're highlights for a reason, but hope he looks like that on the field :)

Perriman tied Chris Johnson for fastest 40 time EVER. He'd abuse a rookie Ike Taylor. Not a single rookie CB would look good running next to that man. I get the feeling that Walker is gonna be a really feisty player once he sees that he can cover the D-1 guys. He has the physical attributes needed to match up. Ozzie and the coaching staff must think that he either already has a high enough football IQ to make it through camp or is smart/eager enough to soak up the classroom.

Also a big advantage to Perriman since it was non contact and he couldn't jam him at the line which I heard he does well but anyway... all good stuff

The two undisputed leaders on the team now are Smith and T-Sizzle. I think that given another great year or two, Moseley will become that also.

Ravens rookie CB Julian Wilson suffered a broken leg during Friday's minicamp.

Wilson will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the entire season. A priority UDFA signing, Wilson will likely be stashed on injured reserve.

I hope this isn't a repeat to our corner situation as last year. Please stay healthy OUR RAVENS.

well i think rookie camp is non contact , so he really couldn't give him any business on the jam. but in the last quarter of the vid on the slant what impressed me was how quickly he got seperation.

This is tragic tragic news. Wish the best for the kid and his family and a speedy, full recovery. Hopefully guys like Pitta, KLM and Brent Urban can walk him through it and make sure he keeps his spirits up.

Can't judge anything on coverage with no or limited contact so CBs are hard to judge right now as a big part of coverage is disrupting the plays timing with contact off the line. Perriman looks like he is what is being advertised. The more time he spends with Smith Sr though, the more he will learn hopefully making him more than just a deep threat. Big guys with muscle, not fearing contact can make big plays anywhere on the field. He learns to run routes and bait defenses he will be even more of the threat. I hope we hold up well at the beginning of the season because as long as we stay healthy November and December could be sweet. If that comes true January could be more than a dream and February will be possible.

Smith will never keep up with Perriman. We waisted our money with Smith.By game 5 Smith will be out with an injury......due to humiliation!

He'll be just fine, shutting down wr's. Now the steelers defense (especially the secondary) will be fun to watch... Unless your a fan of them of coarse

wow Steve is only 3 years younger than my father. He sure plays great though. I'm glad he is on our team. He can teach these younger guys how to play the game Ravens style.
