[News] What's Next For Ed Reed?

15 posts in this topic

Broadcast booth,... he seemed to be enjoying himself on ESPN with Ray!  :oldwiseman:

Whether he'd be available to teach young Ravens his film study secrets  :bowdownsmiley: may depend upon the CBA,... and whether Harbs can let bygones be bygones! :eyes:

Guys, just realized: Reed may be gone tomorrow - but as of now, he's a full member of our roster (until 4pm tomorrow) - so, right now we can still say we got Ed Reed ;)

It would be really great if Ed Reed could come back as a coach and a mentor, to share his knowledge and wisdom about the game with our new young DB corps. Mold them and coach them up the Ball Hawk/Raven way!

I could see him returning to Miami. He loved that school and the football program there more than anything in the world when he left. I just remember watching him talk to the 2011 Canes saying, "This is the greatest time of your life. I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE HERE! All I talked about was trying to get two more years. I love this school, man, I love everything about it. It's different when you get to where I am now [the NFL]." Having the U on his lapel today made me think twice about the Ravens' ability to get him as a coach. I think we all know that Ed Reed is going to do what Ed Reed wants to do. He'd be such a boon for Miami's recruiters. He'll likely go wherever he feels like he's needed most and can contribute the most. He clearly likes working with young people a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if he moved back down south closer to home.

Most importantly Bio, these new UDFAs, drafted rookies and 2/3rd year players who didn't have the fortune of being around Ed Reed can now clearly claim they were on the same team at the same time! What if it were for only 1 day??

Is it true Ed didn't even have an agent for years while he played with the Ravens. I heard that and from what I know about him I wouldn't have trouble believing the story.

It's true.

Ed, given the direction that defensive rules seem to be headed for in the "No Fun League", that flag football coaching experience might just come in handy!
