If you watch Ed Reeds' highlight tape when he was at the University of Miami then you would all think that it is RIDICULOUS that he fell all the way to us at #24 in that draft. I don't know what the NFL scouts were watching that year, but they somehow didn't notice a young legend wearing #20 on the Hurricanes.

I remember his first INT at the stadium like it was yesterday. Picks it off deep on our side of the field, is running all the way back and starts celebrating about 15 yards before entering the end zone. So of course it plays out just like it did for Leon Lett and took the crowd from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in just a few seconds time. My buddy sitting next to me was outraged while I sat there with a smile on my face. I turned to him and said, "Chill man, this dude is a playmaker !" I'm no Nostradamus and am not claiming to be anything of the sort because truthfully, if you were in that stadium witnessing this first hand, you just knew. You felt it ! And I still feel it today ! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

The Hall of Fame would mean nothing if a player like Ed Reed who in my view transcended NFL secondary play doesn't get in on the first ballot! It's really that simple.

Besides being the most feared safety in the game, Ed was also the best broken field runner. Had he specialized in punt and kick returns, he would have broken all the records.

When I first started watching football, I had no idea who Ed Reed was. I remember we were playing the Jets with Sanchez as QB before he imploded. Reed made some dazzling interception and I sat up and said, "Who is that?" and then the announcer starting talking about Ed and what an amazing player he was. After that, it seemed like everytime I watched, Ed was doing something clutch in the moment, something unexpected and terrific. He was so great. Smart, funny, always original -- that's Ed.

If Ed and Troy don't get in on first ballot, then either the HOF voting system needs to be torn down and rebuilt, or the voters need to be replaced. Or both.

Ed Reed has to not only be mentioned in the best safety ever conversation but also in any conversation concerning best player ever. You have to put ED in that category... he truly is one the best football players to ever play the game!
