[News] Late For Work 5/7: NFL World Reacts To Legend Ed Reed's Retirement

127 posts in this topic

The Pats are just such a slimy organization. No one needs to guess at their attitude towards these gray area matters and their propensity towards 'pushing the envelope' on the rules. They can deny deflategate all they want, but the entire world witnessed their shenanigans against us. Is that football? Is that the kind of football us fans want played? Clearly not considering the owners stomped out that BS the first chance they got. This is the lasting legacy of the Bellichick/Brady era. More rules in reaction to the equivalent of an annoying smart-aleck dork of an organiztion whose desparation to win leads to their golden boy QB kicking Ed Reed in the mistas so he can take his most feared opponent off the field.

Good Luck In your future endeavors Ed, I can't believe that 2 of the greatest cheaters in the NFL [ Belichick and Brady ] gave a nice compliment of Ed Reed. How in this civilize world with all the rule of football ever get away with murder, they both knew about deflated footballs, they won 3 game that way and only GOD knows how many more, the commissioner turned a blinded eye the other way, any other team that would have done that would be relived of their draft pick, give back the Super Bowl trophy and be suspended for 1 season, that would be fair, this is not the Patriots first time being investigated, I'm sorry to had bring this subject back up but every time I think about this it makes me sick in my stomach but I guess what's done Is done

Ed Reed is a role-model to fans and players. I hope that the organization puts Ed on a pedestal right next to Ray and Johnny.

In addition, I hope Brady never gets put on a pedestal and get banned from the NFL Hall of Fame!

Nothing in football was more exciting than watching Ed Reed intercept a pass but it was the run back afterwards that took the play over the top. As soon as Ed came down with a ball, I knew something crazy could be coming next....the high risk laterals, street ball in the NFL. Ed brought a unique level of dynamic play, and I loved every minute of panic when Ed would start running those interceptions back. Thanks Ed for every panic attack I ever experienced watching you play.

What a beautiful video. It makes me miss Ed Reed so much. Such a down to earth guy, but he would still light you up nonetheless. My favorite Raven, first ballot hall of famer, we love you. Heroes are remembered, but legends never die. Water covers 75% of the earth, and Ed Reed covers the other 25%.

And Absolutely... The Home page video is Awesome. Gets you a little emotional. It also shows you just how hard he played, and how he ALWAYS put his body on the line to make a play.

Congratulations, Ed - just in time to go in the ROH. Peter King, you better vote him in when he's eligible.

Read the entire Wells report last night. Brady was far more directly involved than I thought the NFL would ever end up concluding...or maybe admitting. Wells exposed Brady as a liar as well as a cheater. Kudos to the Wells investigation for being fair and impartial. Now I want the NFL to bring down the hammer on the Golden Boy with the same force others have gotten for a lot less.

Whereas with Ray it was a no brainer to give him a statue I think us fans will have to start a campaign to get Ed one. It's not his fault that his time on the team coincided with the best MLB to ever play the game. Our minds have to be desciplined enough to realize that Ed Reed in his own right is a once-in-a-generation, iconic player. And that's not Ravens homers talking. The most true praise is that which your opponents lavish on you, because they have no incentive to respect you. But if your play and effort and impact is so awe-inspiring that EVEN your opponents are forced to respect it, clearly you've earned your place in Valhalla.

DO THE RIGHT THING Mr. Bisciotti. Give Eddie and Baltimore his statue.

I think that we can all agree here, the top 100 is fun to watch but as far as how realistic the list is is down right horrible, you mean to tell me that a kicker, now don't get me wrong Adam is an awesome kicker, but he got placed above Randall Cobb and Calais Cambell who is arguably one of the best DEs in the game?! Then Joe dropping as far as he did when this was is best season as a quarterback? Not to mention the horrible fact that last year he was placed 58 after coming off his worst season! The top 100 is really just a list of the top 100 popular players of 2015.

When I saw the Top 100 show last night and Joe popped on the screen at 97, I reacted with a very irritated "No Way". It's a good thing that Joe is so chill and doesn't care too much what others think about him. I hope Joe is lights out next year. Joe is certainly worthy of more respect from his fellow players as well as the media.

I know none of us like the Patriots, but if you honestly don't think this deflate gate thing is stupid then come on bruh. The Pats still punished the Colts in that game. If it was a close game then yeah I could see why it would be a big deal, but the Pats completely out played them, and I think people forget that. The Pats vs Ravens was the REAL AFC Championship game. Sleazy as they may be, Belichick and Brady are great. We hate them because they win, and because the way they win isn't "honorable." Yeah I understand it was cheating, and they should be punished in someway, but anything more than a fine would be an overreaction. Do we really want Brady suspended? Thats like suspending Michael Jordan for posterizing you with a slightly deflated basketball. Plus, the Pats play the Steelers in week one. Do we really want the Steelers to get a Bradyless Pats team? Just fine the Pats and Brady, and let us all get over this blown out of proportion "scandal."

I'll be honest I'm 16, I didn't really start paying attention to football the year that Ed was placed on the PUP list during the 2010 or 2009 season. The very first time I remember making Ed making plays for the first time in my life was that same year when he came off the PUP list, his first game back, going against the Bill in our house and he forced a fumble against Ryan Fitzpatrick, then he had two interceptions that game also, ever since then I've always watched him. Even though I'm one of the youngest people on here I can truly say that Ed was a TRUE class act, the amount of respect he had for the game, and how much respect everyone around the NFL had for him is truly tremendous. Even though I didn't get to watch them long, I will always miss number 20 and 52 patrolling the field together.

If the punishment for Brady isn't at least... AT LEAST 4 games then the whole "performance enhancing drug" policy is just a farce. THIS directly "enhances performance"; way more than Adderall or any other flimsy medication for legit maladies.

Wow, we were spoiled for so many years. We will never ever have a Reed and Lewis on the same team like we had, probably the best players to play their positions. Thanks for the memories

The Cheatriots certainly Do, apparently, have a total lack of integrity. To me, it really boggles the mind how grown men can't seem to figure out that if you have to break or, even, bend the rules in your attempts to win, you really haven't won anything. Of course, each individual who bears any responsibility for either the actions themselves or the search and intent to find these "advantages" knows within themselves what they have done. So what if cry baby Brady or Belicheater did not deflate the balls themselves. The fact that they knew it was happening makes them just as responsible as the individuals who actually committed the offense and rule breaking. This is Not the first time this organization has broken rules. Most will remember the illegal filming of their upcoming opponent's practices for which they were fined, both the organization and Belicheater himself. And to top all this off, we have the owner not only claiming innocence, but actually "copping an attitude" and having the audacity to demand an apology from the league. Few people doubt that Roger Goodell, the league's commissioner, has a close friendship with the Cheatriots owner, Robert Kraft. Few people, also, don't think that this friendship has worked to the advantage of the Cheatriot's organization. Other than Cheatriot fans, I think that most people probably are of the belief that the penalties levied in the illegal filming instance was harsh enough, and that the same will hold true if, in fact, there are Any penalties given in the ball inflation scandal. The thing is, nobody will ever know how many times the Cheatriots resorted to Both of those illegal activities before they were caught. In all likelihood, both infractions most likely occurred before they were finally caught. The reality is that these people, Brady, Belicheater, Kraft, and who knows how many others, apparently, have No problem with cheating in order to win. That's truly unfortunate and tells a lot about their character and lack of integrity as men. To my way of thinking, though, these men have never won anything because their is a stain on All of their accomplishments. They may consider themselves winners in their own minds but, to me, they are all nothing but LOSERS. Shame on all of them. I have No regard for any of them and cannot bring myself to consider any of them honorable men and winners of anything. Both Brady's and Belicheater's accomplishments, to me, are All bogus because nobody can Ever be sure of how many of them were attained by way of using unfair and illegal tactics. Losers, all of them.

"More probable than not" that Goodell gets Brady's punishment wrong like about every other thing he's ruled on.

Take the fandom out of things and I say Robert Kraft is the one who owes an apology. Not just to Goodell but to everyone. #cheeta
